Links for ever

Hi I was thinking of making a Yahoo! site with Zope (links section)... Is there already a product or community effort for this ? Is Zope enough strong to hold 1.457.478.547 links ? ;) Bye -- >> WinErr: 080 Clavier introuvable - Veuillez appuyer sur n'importe quelle touche pour continuer. << Arnaud LECAT >> Email: lecat(a)hexanet.fr >> WWW page:www.hexanet.fr/~lecat HEXANET >> http://www.hexanet.fr Z.A. strange "in" behavior
by CHUNG-SHU YANG 05 Oct '99

Hi all, I have an "in" code fragment like this: .... Now "result" contains 6 rows: If ROWS >=4, I always get all 6 rows on a single page. If ROWS<=3, I get correct number of rows on the first page. However, suppose ROWS=2, I click "Next 2 results" and the second page gives me 4. Any idea? I'm using ZOPE2.0.1 and ZODBCDA3.1b2 on Win98 TIA CS

There isn't any difference, the internal representation after parsing is the same. The new <dtml-command></dtml-command> syntax was devised to make it more usable in HTML editors like Homesite, that allow you to define new tags, including dialog boxes for all the tag's options. -- Martijn Pieters, Web Developer | Antraciet http://www.antraciet.nl | Tel: +31-35-7502100 Fax: +31-35-7502111 | mailto:mj@antraciet.nl http://www.antraciet.nl/~mj | PGP: http://wwwkeys.nl.pgp.net:11371/pks/lookup?op=get&search=0xA8A32149 ------------------------------------------

How do I index a calcuted property of a ZClass instance?
by Jay, Dylan 05 Oct '99

I created a DTML method called "raw" that gave text to be indexed of a ZClass. It combined several fields togeather. When I update the cataloged items those instances are not being indexed on this method. Anyone know how to do this?

The quick solution is to delete your catalogs and create new ones. The real solution is for me to impliment a __setstate__ method that invisibly converts old catalogs to new catalogs. This will be done before the next alpha release. Until then, remember, CVS is not for the timid. -Michel > > > > ------------------------------------------------ > Geir B Hansen > geirh(a)funcom.com > Web-designer / Graphic artist > Funcom Oslo > ------------------------------------------------ > > > _______________________________________________ > Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org > http://www.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope > > (Related lists - please, no cross posts or HTML encoding! > > To receive general Zope announcements, see: > http://www.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce > > For developer-specific issues, zope-dev(a)zope.org - > http://www.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ) >

forgot to send this earlier - I'm giving an intro/overview for Zope talk tonight at the Linux Users of Victoria meeting. The meeting's around 6.45pm (I think) at University of Melbourne Comp Sci. Building. (details are at www.luv.asn.au) Any local Zopistas who are in the area, pop in and say 'Hi!' Of course, this is provided you don't mind your apps all looking like they're built for the BeOS, NeXT, or especially the Mac. (ie. way cool) chas

<dtml-var> vs. [Q]

Hi! I have read the DTML docs and I couldn't find the pros and cons of each. Why diferent syntax for the same? I mean, makes it usable for HTML editor like HoTMetaL since it's a "comment" tag :-) Is there any "underwater" difference between the two syntax that I didn't saw? TIA /B Bruno

DTML var and performance
by Oscar Picasso 05 Oct '99

05 Oct '99

Hi, I would like to translate some products (like Squishdot) in other langages (french, spanish...). I planned to replace all the hard coded texte in DTML methods and documents by reference to properties or attributes of some objects. The question is: Will I lost in term of perfomance if replace each word or phrase in all the dtml methods or documents by a dtml var tag? Same question if I use a lot of cascading style sheets in order to make the products even more customizable. Thanks. *************************** Oscar Picasso picasso(a)videotron.ca ***************************

authentication via userdb or user folder
by kedai 05 Oct '99

05 Oct '99

hi, situation: i'm trying to set up a site with two distinct users - anonymous and member - just like the zope org. problem: with user db - it can only be one level off root dir (e.g. Register). authentication is ok. the only thing is i get AUTHENTICATED_USER as anonymous user on other folders except the user db folder. i guess i need to acquire to the root dir. how could i approach that? removing the default user folder at root and moving the user db to root didnt help much. it locks off users. with user folder - i can't figure out how to authenticate thru a form. what do i need to compare? if only i can have a peek at what happen when i log in at the zope site.. i did look at logged_in.html - but can't see where the authentication takes place. what to call, etc. sorry if this is too simple. i searched thru the archive, but no relevant answers to my Q. i did came accross Michel's point about membership. is it available now? tia
