ZClass Question

Help! I am Zenless. 8=( I want to keep things simple for content managers. I have a ZClass (agendaClass) that contains a dtml method index_html and a dtml document with id content. The index_html calls the standard header and footer with <dtml-var content> inbetween. I know that the ZDG chapter 1 on ZClasses says that the only permission you should grant to documents and methods in instances is view because you don't want managers to be able to edit the documents and methods, but that is exactly what I want. I want them to edit content to contain the appropriate html content for that particular agenda. I have tried all sorts of permission combinations, but I can't seem to get it right. When I create an instance (agenda), the Contents page appears empty (index_html and content are not listed), but when I view the instance I see the page correctly with the default contents from the agendaClass. I would like "content" to appear on the Contents page of the instance. Clicking on "content" should take the content manager to a set of pages that include Edit, Upload, Properties, and View. I do not want the index_html to be editable. I can achieve a similar result by leaving content out of the agendaClass and teaching all my content managers to Add a DTML Document and give it the id content as soon as they create an instance, but I want this to be automated. I cannot give you examples with the software you mention, but I can give you an example that we are working on with ZCatalog. We are desiging a 'Topic' based system that works as a catagorical hierachy, ala Yahoo. ZCatalog is an object index, somewhat identical to what I describe above. ZCatalog indexes objects into an arbitrary set of various kinds of indexes. Each index is responsible for indexing one particular property of an object. If the an object being indexed does not have a property that an index is looking for, the object is simply not indexed in that index (but it may have a property that another index is looking for, and therefore will be indexed in *that* index). The CVS version of ZCatalog uses three types of index (in 2.0, there are only the first 2): Field Index: property values are treated atomically. Indexes can be queried for all objects that match that value. Range searches can also be done on indexed object values that support comparison (like numbers, dates, special purpose 'length' objects, etc). indexes can also be queired for the set of unique values in the index, for example, you can ask for the set of unique 'meta_types' of all objects indexed. A good example of this is the search by 'type' on the Zope site (http://www.zope.org/SiteIndex/searchForm) Text Index: property values are applied against a lexicon object that stems, stops, and parses the value into a full text index. The index may be queried with a simple boolean query language that allows 'and' 'or', phrasing, parenthesized boolean expressions, and proximity matching. Relevance ranking is supported and returns the sum of the occurances of all query terms in the 'hit'. A normalized score is also provided that is normalized from 0 to 100 over the whole result set. Keyword Index: Subclasses all of the field index behavior, except that property values are treated as a sequence of keywords. The ZCatalog can work in a UNIX 'find' like fasion, where it spiders over the object hierarchy indexing objects, or Zope classes may subclass behavior that makes them Catalog Aware, allowing them to index/unindex themselves when their state changes. The new Zope site is driven by ZCatalog. All of the product listings, member contributions, news items, links, tips, documentation, how-tos, etc... are all catalog aware objects that index themselves. As new content is added anywhere in the site, all of the various dynamicaly generated information is updated. Some user have the propery access credentials to review or immediatly submit new content, other users must submit content for review before it is cataloged. On the bottom of every screen, there is a 'DTML Source' link that shows you the DTML that generated that page. Hi, The default view for an object is called "index_html". So, if you go to "yoursite.com/Folder", Zope will serve up "Folder/index_html". If you name it "index.html", Zope won't find it. Other than that, "." is not legal in python expressions, so you may find yourself having to use "_['index.html']" sometimes if you are trying to call it from other objects. Problem with ZODBCDA-3.1.0b2

I can't seem to establish an ODBC connection to any of my ODBC sources. The "Add Z ODBC Database Connection" page seems to come up fine, and lists all my odbc sources, but I have no joy when trying to create a connection with the "Connect immediately" button checked. I tried all of the connections, some of which are SQL server and some are Access thingies, but none of them work. I've included the source of the page with the error message. Any thoughts? Zen of adding objects through forms

YANQ Okay, I'm wanting to add articles, quotes, etc to my system through an admin form interface. For instance, under the main folder, I have a folder called quotes. I want to generate a unique folder with a single index_html and a property called author. Then, I want a document that will allow me, with DTML, to add this folder, create index_html and insert into this file, the quote, already formatted. So, for a Zope newbie with lots of HTML experience, but little/no forms experience, what would be the best way to start? I've searched around for this, but searching the zope site for "forms" or "form" has proven to be a less than helpful activity. Dave, who will soon be trying to figure out how to increment the integer property "count" by one

Make sure that your DTML is wrapped with <dtml-try>s, because if your standard_html_error causes an error, you could be in trouble. -Michel

Because acquisition kicks in when you access namespaces above you, you just reference the variable. It apears towork the same either way, even though one method uses acquisition and one doesn't.
