newbe problem with indirection

Hi there: I have a folder with photos of the office team. Since I don't have all pictures, I want to show a "no photo available" instead, so I've created a "showpic" method with the follow:    ? (Photo not available)  This method is called from a document the following way:  The idea is to have the "no photo available" until I place the proper image on the folder, but it's not working. FTP filesize problem

I have a file object with reported size from the manage interface of 2,886,010 bytes. My FTP client reports the size as 67962 bytes. I know the file size to be the former so is the FTP server broken or my FTP client. I see some files 109,056 bytes long which is reported the same in both interfaces. -- Robin Becker

Zope 2.0.0 withdrawn from release

Due to the security problem reported and resolved last night, we are retracting the 2.0.0 release from availability at this point. We are working hard to produce a 2.0.1 release today that encompasses that fix as well as potentially many other bug fixes. More news as it develops. Zope2.0.0 final - hung.

I have a weird one here. I've been using Zope 2.0.0 final, binary release, Solaris 5.6 since it came out. It's been fine. Now it's hung. I've tried connecting to the server using Lynx etc. and no joy. The FTP server on port 8021 is also not responding. I haven't *as yet* killed the processes and started new ones, as I'd *really* like to know what it is I've done. The only thing I've done is to use the binary release of python to do some MySQL work. I haven't installed Andy Dustmans' MySQLdb-0.1.0 yet. I used the same python installation that the Zope server is using. Is it possible I've done something to the 'interpreter lock' or somesuch... If the outcome is that I should leave the Zope python binary well alone whilst Zope is running - then that is completely icebox with me. I agree that the web interface does provide useful functionality, particularly for the developers. I have a couple of comments in relation to using a WYSIWYG editor: - There are probably many cases where the user needs to work on a pretty standard "document". They are revising the text, adding an image, etc. It seems plausible that we can create something to allow people to work with this kind of object in a wysiwyg editor. That would be a lot nicer than requiring the user to type to boldface something. The "Formatted Document" object on the Zope.org site would allow people to create docs without a single bit of DTML (because the standard_html_header and footer are included automatically). This is probably enough for some situations. Turn "Formatted Document" into an ObjectManager, and it may even be possible to include associated images directly with the document. - People have talked about the problems with retrieving rendered vs. unrendered objects. Keep in mind that everything is extensible... we all have the ability to create new objects *and* the source code for the whole system... I think it is possible to make wysiwyg solutions tailored toward specific needs. Maybe it is complicated for the page designer to use Dreamweaver to edit the header and footer objects... but it is quite possibly not that complicated for the people writing the content to use Dreamweaver (or Frontpage) to edit something like a "Formatted Document". Want to be able to use DTML in the documents, but have a problem with DTML Methods coming out pre-rendered? Subclass DTML Methods and change the FTP support to send you the raw text... I'll grant that it will be difficult to consistently and conveniently handle every situation out there based on the tools and protocols that are readily available today. But, I do think it is possible to handle many situations with just a little bit of Zope development. Kevin

Problem setting security attributes of a file

Hi, I'm getting an error when a try to set the security atributes of a file. The setting of the security attributes of a DTML Document works with no problem. inside a <dtml-in> tag , i have <dtml-var sequence-index>, showing the number of the item in the sequence. A question about logging and Zope

Hi, I am nearly finished with my first inhouse Zope application - a frontend to the userdatabase that we use to manage our customers. Everything went really fine, but I like to log all actions that user do to a SQL database, cause I like to make the logfile entrys for each Userobject (in my database) viewable. can I implement a new logging facility based on the zLOG.py file or how can I implement a logging facility myself?
