Zope on Debian 2.1

I am trying to install Zope and have had a rough time. I have a Debian 2.1 (Slink) system running here. Zope comes in binary format for debian but would require me to upgrade to Potato. I have a pretty security intensive user base and I don't feel comfortable upgrading at this time. I have the Zope components, but I don't know where my 'Python path' is for purposes of installation. I have /usr/bin/python and /usr/lib/python1.5. Which is the path. The one in /usr/bin is a binary. Do I put it in /usr/bin? Want Attribute of Children used in Parent

I have several child objects below a parent object and I want to do some DTML that's conditional upon any one of those child objects having a property set to a given value. But the trick is I don't want it to repeate for all the values once it finds one. Sort of like a python break. I have:     Show me Only once!    Show me if no MyClasses Exists.  But this gives me the "Show mwe only once!" one time for every object where the value of myproperty isn't equal to 'foo'. I want the 'in' tag to break when it finds one. delete zclass instance

Hello, When creating a zclass, the dtmlMethod YourClass_add(...) is automatically added. The actual line in the code to do the work is: (My class name is ItemClass) [snip]-#with "ItemClass.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST)"[snip]. Is there such a method as .deleteInObjectManager(.....), and if so, what are it's parameters? I'm experimenting with an ecommerce idea using dynamically created instances of zclasses, but I'm stumped on how to get rid of them via dtml. How exactly you set it up will probably depend on your security requirements... The general process would be to make a DTML method for updating an item that posts to another DTML method. The "update" method would do something like: <form method="post" action="SaveChanges"> <input type="text" name="name" value="&dtml-name;"> <textarea name="problem">&dtml-problem;</textarea> <input type="submit" value="Save Changes"> </form> then the "SaveChanges" method could do something like: <dtml-call "propertysheets.basic.manage_changeProperties(REQUEST)"> (replacing "basic" with the name of your propertysheet) <dtml-call reindex_object> (if it is a CatalogAware object) KM|net News has a working example of this, if you drill down to the KMArticle ZClass and look at the "edit" and "postit" methods. I'm trying to set up a simple trouble-ticket type application using Zope. I defined a ZClass for the individual tickets and added a few instances through the management screens. That all worked fine. But here's the catch -- I want the users to be able to create and update tickets through the regular web site rather than through the management screens and I can't figure out how to do that. Zope v2.0.1 released. PLEASE UPGRADE

Gang, Zope 2.0.1 has been released and is now up on the new portal site (which as you'll see in a site note is back on port 80). I would strongly (very very strongly) recommend that anyone who is using 2.0.0 upgrade immediately, as this changes nothing except to fix the outstanding security hole discovered yesterday. This is critical if you are using local roles. If you are tracking CVS, then the change was committed last night, and you should be up to date with that. What needs to happen is that you have to get Zope to close it's log files and reopen them. It doesn't (as with all UNIX software) track based on name, but on inode/fd map information. If you send Apache a SIGHUP it'll close and reopen them. ZServer should do the same, but it doesn't.
