Editing DTML Methods with Emacs ?

I remember this problem was raised here once, but I don't know if there's a solution now: I'd like to use something else than Netscape's text widget to edit my Zope site. XEmacs would be preferred. Ftp access to the site does work with the /superuser@host#8021:/ syntax. The problem is that if I edit and save a DTML method with XEmacs, the method turns into a DTML document, breaking the logic of the site. I think I understood the underlying problem (ftp just can't express the differences between the objects), but I don't remember if there was any workaround. So what do people use to prototype Zope sites ? Are you all stuck with the Zope web management interface ? Gregor

Building a list programmatically under DTML

Hi, I'm working on a project where I need to build a list programmatically I have tried a number of variations of the following without much success. Once the list has been built, I need to pass it on to the next page: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('idx', 0)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('desc', [])"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('desc_qty', [])"> . . . <td> <dtml-var expr="_[Category]"> <dtml-if "_[Category][0:2] <> 'No'"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('desc[&dtml-idx;]', _[Category])"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('desc_qty[&dtml-idx;]', qty)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('idx', idx + 1)"> </dtml-if> </td> All help would be greatly appreciated! -- Stand Fast, tjg. Portal How to .

Hello I'm still a newbie at this. I have heard about the "portal" features in zope 2 but I'm wondering what gives zope this? is it a product? is the added owner role? I'm wondering because I'm interested in creating a portal and I don't know where to start? Grant

starting ZServer via telnet

Hi, have a look in the directory /utilities in your Zope-2.0 installation, there's ia tool called bbb.py, which will do the conversion for you. But watch out for confera stuff in your Zope Installations, they're well known to produce problems in 2.0. Hi, I played around a little bit with the Tree at home. I will try to summarize it. When you hit the +/- signs of a tree, you are actually hitting a <a href> Where the link contains some information of the tree. When this is replaced in the lib/python/TreeDisplay/TreeTag.py by a form <form action= > <input type=hidden name=tree-e value= > <input type=image ... > where action point to the Tree page and the tree-e variable contains the tree information. The image is then used as a map and is a replacement of the submit button. Trouble is that the tree-e information contains something like "abunchOfCharacters#1" The "#" character is transformed into something %06 by the post-encoding. And the whole stuff does not work anymore. should I also change the parsing of the tree information? My conclusion is that a tree in zope1.3 cannot work together with a form. Vanroose Wim
