ZODB performance via direct disk writes

Would there be any performance gain from having ZODB3 access a raw io device instead of using a filesystem, as can be done in FreeBSD for example? Greetings Zope-users, I just wanted to announce that http://www.stormlinux.com is now powered by Zope2.0b6. Zope is really cool product, and I've been cutting and pasting code snippets from the mailing list and elsewhere as I learn Zope. Thanks to Digital Creations and all the folks who have been working with them to make Zope what it is. Storm Linux is a new Linux disto based on Debian GNU Linux. Well, this has been the busiest week of all, or at least in a long long time, for Zope development. Not only was beta 6 released, but the final release of Zope 2 has finally been made! ZSQL error using MySQLDA

I have a MySQL query as follows: select foo.id, bar.name, count(*) from foo, bar where (foo.id = bar.id) group by foo.id This query executes normally from the mysql client, and I get: id name count(*) 1 joe 10 2 blow 24 etc... When implemented as a Z SQL Method, I get the message: Error, exceptions.KeyError: unhandled Why might this be? If I omit count(*) from the query it runs fine, or if I use count(*) in a query involving only a single table, it also works. I'm running Zope 2 beta6, Linux (RH5.2), and MySQL 3.22.19 TIA for help, Rick

Python compile problem

I'm trying to compile Python 1.5.2 with threads support turned on and I'm running into some sort of roadblock. I run configure with the "--with-thread" option and that seems to run fine. But then when I run make install it stops and tells me that I need to run configure with the --with-thread option. The install docs were a little unclear about whether the threadmodule needed to be manually uncommented or not, but it doesn't work for me either way. I'm running Caldera 1.3 as it came out of the box with a Linux 2.0 kernel. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? -- Web Mayfield EDS Medicare Business Services 972-604-2277 (8-834)

Hi, I'm pleased to announce the second alpha release of XML Document. It's available on the new Zope.org site: http://www.zope.org:18200/Products/XMLDocument XML Document allows you to use xml objects in the Zope environment. You can create xml documents in Zope and leverage Zope to format, query, and manipulate xml. This release fixes quite a few bugs including one that broke ZClasses. Thanks Martijn and Thierry, Neither of your solutions worked, but they did give me some ideas and I now have a better idea of the mechanics of my problem... Thierry, my main.dtml is different to yours... and Martijn, ^/Zope(/.*) /home/httpd/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi$1 didn't work... but, thinking with my fingers, looking at the main.dtml (it is burried so deep in the subdirectories.... I doubt I would have found it myself) I discovered that I could add pages, if I went directly to the address: http://linus/Zope/manage_addDTMLDocumentForm I could change the main.dtml so that I am sent to these type addresses, but I feel I will run into other trouble later on when I try external methods. The way I understand it at the moment, what the rewrite rule is trying to do is to turn: http://linus/Zope/?%3Amethod=manage_addDTMLDocumentForm into http://linus/Zope.cgi?%3Amethod=manage_addDTMLDocumentForm which will then redirect to http://linus/Zope/manage_addDTMLDocumentForm I feel very close to a solution now... and at least I can build some Zope pages while I am stumped. Thanks again.... I will go away for a think and try again tonight or tomorrow.
