Yep. Define a "virtual" field that returns a concatenation of all the real "fields" that you want indexed, then register that with the ZCatalog as the thing that supplies the text. The "virtual" field could be defined up above all the XML Documents and use the magic of acquisition to bind it to all the actual documents. You have a number of options for defining the virtual field. An external method is straightforward, or an DTML Method that used the wonderful, wonderful new  tag. Alternatively, and this is where it gets truly fun, you could start looking at giving your XML Documents a "brain". To answer your question, bobobase_modification_time() is a function. So just referring to "bobobase_modification_time" will get you the function instance, not its return value. threading and External Methods

Hi there - Real simple question: Do I need to worry about threading when coding External Methods (in Zope 2)? If I do have something that is not safe (for example, I want to os.system nslookup to check MX records) do I have to explicitly protect it somehow? --Brian

tiny table help

does anybody know if it is possible to fill a column of a tinytable with some DTML script? Basically i am trying to take the contents of a list object from a form and input the data into a column in a tiny table. I then want to take the contents of another list object from the same form and put this in a seperate column in the tinytable. Is this possible? Cheers, Wom.

On my pocket electronic organizer, I can search for a string anywhere in any field of the address book or in some specified fields. This is of course similar to the idea of searching through an XML document as though it were a text stream rather than a structured source. Hidden field with a list type

Hi Zopians. My problem is how can I make a hidden field to be a list with a default value? For instance, I try to make the following. REQUEST.form['pno'] contains ['abc', 'def', 'ghi'] <snip> <input type=hidden name="pno:list" value=""> When I submit the above page, and try to refer to pno, it doesn't produce the result I want. For example: <snip>  <BR>  produces only 1 item, "['abc', 'def', 'ghi']" and not 3 items, abc def ghi Thanks for any comments, --Paul

Gosh, this looks great, and very timely, I was just about to do a really dumbed down one here. A couple of questions: People might want to (at least, here they might want to) upload an XML version of an article, tagged with category etc. - is that non-trivial to implement? I think I'll have a go anyway... Also, can articles belong to multiple categories in principle? (I ran into the same requirement with Squishdot). Thanks a lot for this! Dear Zopistas, is there a subtle trick to using date and time from a folder property or using the fmt="%[A-Za-z]" options? When I use &dtml-var "_[ 'sequence-item'].date" fmt="aCommon"; the date and time shows me the date and time according to the local timezone (Pacific Standard Time) just as I need it. However, when I use &dtml-var "_[ 'sequence-item'].date" fmt="%a %m/%d %x %X %c"; fmt="aCommon" all the dates and times are 7 hours ahead (GMT?). I'm looking at the python module docs (http://www.python.org/doc/current/lib/module-time.html) and wondering why I can't extract the correct information according to the local timezone (as fmt="aCommon" seems to do). Am I doing something wrong or just plain overlooking something? Any Zope Zen hint(s) would be appreciated!
