Hi. I'm building a loan system with Zap and I have a SQl statement problem. Let's say I have 2 table: loan and doc Fields in doc: pno * doctype * docloc ... Fields in loan: usrid * pno * doctype * ... Note: * means primary key What I want to query is how do I get all the pno and its according type, that doesn't exist in the loan table? This is to make sure that the borrower does not select a document that had been loaned!!! In other words, all documents except those that are being borrowed. I had the same problem. I ended up deleting it directly from python (shutdown Zope, then import the Main package from python, and then delete the relevant data. Don't forget to commit the transaction) This problem is due to the lack of  (notice the html_quote) in various part of the DTML sources shipped with Zope. Alternatively, you could patch your DTML to include the html_quote attribute to be able to delete the folder. > >I created a folder with double quotes in the id. <Disclaimer> I am very new to Zope and have just begun evaluating it, and it's XML capabilities in particular. </Disclaimer> First, I am very impressed with the Zope architecture and am happy to see XML being integrated into the process. I will defer specific comments on the XML roadmap but use the opportunity raise a more general question. There is a fair amount of XML capability in the Python XML-SIG, but there is even more capability in various Java/XML packages and with the use of JPython these packages can be integrated seamlessly with the XML-SIG packages - no glue code required. If Zope could run under JPython then a very large amount of XML/XSL/DOM capability would be automatically available. As an experiment I tried making the Zope python packages under JPython instead of CPython, and I only experienced one minor hitch so far, most everything compiled straight from the make files. That of course leaves the problem of all the parts of Zope which are written in C, and I have no idea how much of a problem it is porting that to Java (or constructing a JNI interface). But it might be worth comparing the effort required to get Zope working on JPython to the effort to port existing XML/XSL and other existing Java packages to Zope (Python or C-Extensions) Aside from the porting effort I realize that there are speed issues, but for some of us portability and the simple extensibility offered by the JPython /Java combination outweigh speed considerations. ZClasses: Object Manager's containing renameable Object Manager's

I've created a ZClass that inherits from Object Manager. I want it to hold another type of ZClass/Object Manager. The problem is I need to manage_renameObject() the Object Managers that are inside Object managers and when I do I get "The object foo does not support this operation." The sub-object managers were created in side the method's view of the parent-object managers. So, I tried inheriting from Folder instead of Object Manager and I can't get the option to add the sub-folder objects to show up on the menu. Any help is greatly appreciated. ^Roman

Zope 2.0 beta one should be out *very* soon. This week saw a lot of screw tightening in preparation for the beta release. The public CVS archive is temporarily frozen due to some re-organization but will open up again when the beta release comes out. Most of the traffic on the Zope lists was devoted to Zope community members helping each other solve their various real world problems. One of the most notable discussions this week started with a comparison between Zope and other web development platforms with respect to xml facilities. Folks at DC weighed in with their 2 cents on the subject which includes the imminent release of a Zope product which will allow access to xml objects in Zopish ways. Interestingly many community members have similar ideas of what Zope needs in terms of xml support. It will be exciting to see how Digital Creations and community members collaborate on XML development efforts. * Chris Petrilli announced an new Zope mailing list, zope-announce. Alexander, If you're looking for one admin setup and several different sites you can do this: Set it up as I mentioned.
