Zope 2.0 beta one should be out *very* soon. This week saw a lot of screw tightening in preparation for the beta release. The public CVS archive is temporarily frozen due to some re-organization but will open up again when the beta release comes out. Most of the traffic on the Zope lists was devoted to Zope community members helping each other solve their various real world problems. One of the most notable discussions this week started with a comparison between Zope and other web development platforms with respect to xml facilities. Folks at DC weighed in with their 2 cents on the subject which includes the imminent release of a Zope product which will allow access to xml objects in Zopish ways. Interestingly many community members have similar ideas of what Zope needs in terms of xml support. It will be exciting to see how Digital Creations and community members collaborate on XML development efforts. * Chris Petrilli announced an new Zope mailing list, zope-announce. Alexander, If you're looking for one admin setup and several different sites you can do this: Set it up as I mentioned. Josh PS separate installs aren't entirely against the usefulness of ZOPE in all instances (web hosting for example where you WANT people to have a higher level of control and yet only destroy their own setup.) how to delete objects with " in id?

I created a folder with double quotes in the id. It created fine, but I couldn't delete it. Acquisition and Folders in ZClasses

Hi, I'm having trouble with acquisition in a case where I have a ZClass with a Folder inside the Methods tab of the class. Here's what I've got: KMArticleStore (ZClass) - article_list (DTML Method) - html (Folder) * index_html (DTML Method) * list_item (DTML Method) Zope Root - index_html (DTML Method) - art (KMArticleStore) My index_html looks like this: <dtml-with art> <dtml-with html> <dtml-var "index_html(category='top')"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> The index_html in the html Folder looks like: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var article_list> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> When I access the top level index_html, I get a KeyError in the other index_html for 'standard_html_header' which exists in the Zope root. If I remove that reference (replacing it with just <html><body>), it can't find article_list... which exists in the KMArticleStore. *Should* this work? I was figuring that a Folder within a ZClass should work like a normal Folder. Also, should Zope allow us to override a ZClass class method at the instance level? (I just get an error stating that the id already exists). I'm running 2.0a4 (on Windows). If this behavior is not reproduceable, then I'll check out the beta when it comes out and see how it works... I've been using this for several weeks without a hitch, and it has been very nice to be able to type "4am.com/manage" rather than "4am.com/Zope/4am/manage" (I also rewrite to Zope if a URL lacks periods). Part of the Zope 2 Documentation effort is to capture this VERY kind of information. The resulting document will be the Zope Administrator's Guide. It will be focused on issues about the filesystem, processes, pcgi, etc.. I imagine that the initial (alpha) versions of the docs will appear shortly after the software is final. --Rob
