The .tgz contans a README.txt file in the src directory which details the all-too-painful process of compiling the Oracle modules. Even in its current state you should be able to visit the Control Panel/Products folder and see a broken ZOracleDA product. Check the README.txt for step-by-step compilation instructions. BTW, what platform are you running (Win/Sparc Solaris)? --Rob

MySQLDA Compile problem

I can't seem to make MySQLDA. I get the following: -------- gcc -fpic -g -O2 -I/usr/include/python1.5 -I/usr/include/python1.5 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I/usr/local/include/mysql -c ./MySQLmodule.c ./MySQLmodule.c: In function `pythonify_res_fields': ./MySQLmodule.c:456: `AUTO_INCREMENT_FLAG' undeclared (first use this function) ./MySQLmodule.c:456: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once ./MySQLmodule.c:456: for each function it appears in.) make: *** [MySQLmodule.o] Error 1 -------- And yes, I did initially use -lm, instead of gcc. Feature requests and questions

Here is a smattering of feature requests: 1) Have an install that automatically installs a default webserver that will run as a background process 2) have a feature rich install that has all the messaging, ftp, etc. packages pre-installed so users can just run it 3) an easier way to install new packages - like just clicking "install" 4) Port Zope to mac!! 5) Improve the admin interface with useful functions like "export site to HTML" 6) implement XML-RPC between two zope servers 7) implement a mailing list from within Zope 8) Product requests: a)web-board b)mailing list c)workflow d)project management 9) Create a "serialized" XML export/import format so that for example I could email a zope site to a friend as a single file and have them "import" it. Sans images of course. adding Oracle adapter?

I successfully downloaded Zope, and it seems to work okay. But I want to access my Oracle database with Zope SQL methods, so I downloaded the Oracle database adapter (Z Oracle DA). The "installation instructions" only tell me how to build DCOracle; no sign of how to install ZOracleDA into Zope can be found, and Zope has yet to read my mind and detect ZOracleDA's presence. Where must I install the ZOracleDA stuff, and what (if anything) besides restarting Zope must I do after that so that Zope will let me create Oracle database connections as it now lets me create Gadfly connections? If it's in the docs, I don't see where, and I've looked through everything vaguely relevant. A link in http://www.zope.org/Download/ZOracleDA would be much appreciated... (I don't want to move the Zope database itself to Oracle yet...) Keith
