We do backups all the time on Unix and have no problems. HELP NEEDED - EXTREMELY URGENT (Zope on NT4 SP4)

Today I tried to move my nealy-finished Zope application (will post a testimonial when it's online) to our customer's brand new super-duper-Compaq-PII-400-RAID1 server running Windows NT4 Server SP4 -- and bought exclusively for our application. My problem: Zope won't run at all. On running freshly installed start.bat _with_the_builtin_database_ the following traceback appears: [...long traceback] File "C:\Programme\Zope\Koelnzope\lib\python\BoboPOS\SimpleDB.py", line 1332, in read_index raise DatabaseError, ('Corrupted data record at %s' % pos) DatabaseError: Corrupted data record at 9 The Zope install itself seems ok - I installed the identical file successfully on several NT4 Workstation SP3 machines. So I can't believe the reason is really a corrupted database. I will try to make a test installation on another NT4 Server SP4 box to see if that is the reason. The server itself is included in a large (several hundred) server pool with identical basis setups and managed homogenously via SMS. I'm running start.bar with local administrator rights and unrestricted access to the Zope installation, but according to the rest of the network machinery the permissions of the test account are rather restricted. But this propably shouldn't change anything. Did anyone ever experience something similar? Assumptions..guesses..any ideas appreciated - I'm pretty desperated because the whole thing should go online on monday, I have no server access on weekend, and there's quite a lot depending on it. Amazon has accomplished this by providing a post request variable. ie www.amazon.com/?4834938348934 Go to their site and look at the method. It is fairly straight forward. They use an identifier that is dynamic per user across sessions. The accomplish it via cookies and consistently using the uid(userid) variable in the same location. Zope has an advantage here because you can reference the cgi request variables without CGI: ZOPE DOCS: http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Guides/DTML/DTML-HTML/DTML.html#29461 use the QUERY_STRING variable to save session variables. use cookies to save the id across sessions. <---The combination is Amazon's Solution Just a thought. 2cents worth! Well, I gave up on a DTML only method, and wrangled with Extensions till I got it right: Here's the code, in case anyone's interested. from string import split def getbypath(ob, path): """Return an object as directed by 'path'""" parent=None current=ob for i in split(path, "/"): try: parent=current current=getattr(current,i) except TypeError: return "Encountered Exception" parent.temp_child=i return parent And here's the DTML that calls it:      Of course the real DTML would have some variable in place of 'index_html'! note: the simplest and most obvious course (to me) gave poor results. If the Extension method returns 'current' then you get the equivelant of a '#var ... urlquote' where not even the DTML is evaluated. The mucking about with 'parent' and 'temp_child' is necessary to bring it in properly pre-evaluated. But now it works fine. Thanks to all who helped.

The FORM's ACTION determines where all INPUT TYPE="SUBMIT" buttons send the form. Alternatively, you may try adding a little JavaScript and changing the button to: <INPUT TYPE="BUTTON" VALUE=" Go! " onClick="somefunction(this.form)"> in the JavaScript function: somefunction(form) you can change the ACTION property of the form based on which button was clicked. smart buttons

Is there any nice automated way in Zope to make a form with multiple submit buttons each calling a different document? Currently I have hacked around this by calling a single document containing a deeply-nested conditional and some  includes but this is giving me obscure errors and anyway is messy. --- Julian Morrison Programmer (Zereau Ltd)

This is my current code          the 'extra_pages' is an SQL query returning location='rochaj/studinfo' where the rochaj is a directory name and the studinfo is a Document in that folder. It is key that there may be an arbitrary number of directories before the final Document is specified. What I need is some command to put in place of the 'call REQUEST' which will put me in the namespace of a folder in the current folder, i.e. move me one deeper into the hierarchy, but without requiring an open and close tag, since they won't operate properly inside of an 'in' loop. Please help.

Well, I thought this would do, so I let it sit while I built a new webserver. Now I am back to work on Zope, sitting on my new server, and I find that I'm not sure I fully comprehend these instructions. What I need to do, is to 'include,' in the same way the default document says '' a document whose location I receive from an sql query in the form of 'dir/dir/dir/.../file' with an arbitrary number of directories. It is not an object whose namespace I need to enter. Rather, I need to get into the namespace of the last dir, so I can #var include the file.
