A problem is that by using HTML Comment syntax, it's actually harder to teach HTML editors to handle DTML because most of them already have code to handle comments (even the luxurious Alpha text editor has a lot of quirks) as comments, not processing directives, and it's harder to extend them to handle our special comment syntax. But training Alpha and other smarter editors to recognize something a bit more unique like <?ztml ?> would be easier. Or even just to recognize the <? ?> processing directives. (Dreamweaver already recognizes ASP's <% %> syntax. ColdFusion gets around this problem a little bit by (a) using normal tags <cfinput> <cfquery>, etc..., and (b) using a shortcut for 'var' - ##, like <font size="#arg#"> i like the <?ztml proposal. PHP has something similar. I'd prefer something like the following though: <?ztml-tag (like <?ztml-var ?>, <?ztml-in?>, etc...) although that Z key is not something i'm used to reaching for... maybe keep it dtml instead? <?dtml-if signature?> <?dtml-var signature fmt=structured-text?> <?/dtml-if?> :)

Note that Zope is used in hundreds of sites, is featured in *two* upcoming books, I don't know when you became such a history buff of Zope but Image.py has been around about a year and a half, and also existed before packages (we previously used a hacked ni). > why not fix Zope instead? I had this problem. I believe the step that fixed it was statically compiling mod_rewrite into Apache. By default (with 1.3.4), it was loaded as a DSO. Have the Zope principals considered a different logo? The current logo is ...is...ok but It might help to have something that "sizzles". I see that the http://www.opensource.org has a logo contest and there are a number of cool submissions: http://www.lerdorf.on.ca/os/logos.php3 Does (will) zope.org sell any stickers for server boxes that say: "Zope Inside" ? It seems like the day is not to far away when anyone can order a _small_ box that only has two connections: Power and 100/Ethernet. No monitor/keyboard, built in battery backup like laptops. Take it to the home/office/ISP and plug it into the network, turn on the hidden switch and you have a "Zope Instant Web" Naturally, the OS is Linux. Boxes could be sold by the big guys: Dell/Gateway/Micron etc or even an off-brand outfit. The box also comes with a Zope hat and tee shirt! Check that cgi-bin has 'Options ExecCGI' in your apache config files. I just installed 1.3.4 and it doesn't automatically set it. I had the same problem as you until I put this option on. Hello boys One should be able to use zope from Apache with pcgi by doing what WEBSERVER.txt says. I can't! even if I write the RewriteRule, it always end up in "you are not allowed to access this ressource. Any ideas? Jephte CLAIN Service Informatique CHSR
