- Problem with multiple inputs

One of my search forms allows people to search using one or more keywords. If they select one keyword it's delivered as a string. If they select multiple keywords it's delivered as a list. In the search results page I want to generate a new search form that contains the input parameters from the search to make it easy to generate a related search. I currently have   <input type=hidden name="keywords" value="">   This fails if the user selected just a single keyword, since the keywords parameter is a string. Is there some clean way to work around this problem? The only thing I can see is something like   <input type=hidden name="keywords" value="">   <input type=hidden name="keywords" value="">    which fails because the builtin function type is apparently not available. I also tried using "_.type(...)" but that failed with an AttributeError (was that the correct syntax?). My short-term solution is to add a hidden parameter with a dummy value that guarantees if the user selects a keyword there will be at least two keywords, thus I'll get a list I can loop over with #in. I had a similar problem with Bobo and Zope, that Jim sent me fixes for. A cookie with two equal signs (I' don't think that's valid) would cause this error. I have the new Publish.py file available if you want it. Hi again - I am trying to script acl_users to add Zope users according to form input, but am having a little trouble getting the DTML scripting right. Can anyone give me some advice on the following? I have no trouble making new users with the following: (I am generating sequential logins and storing it in a property of the folder, that's what last_new_login is; password_verify is just there since I name that field differently on my form than the Zope edit users page...)    This adds the new user to the parent folder's (in my case, the Zope root) acl_users  However, when I try to use a similar method to change user data:     ...I get an AttributeError in BoboPOS, as if that user doesn't exist. Is there a better way to do this (probably!) ? Can anyone give me an example of the right way to script acl_users changes? Thanks! --Brian Hooper

- Bug or Error? in ZMySQL

Well, I wish this is my error, but as far as I see, it seems otherwise. I've searched the zope list but failed to solve this problem. The ZMySQLDA-1.1.2-nonbin.tar.gz and python 1.5.1 are installed. Using Zope 1.9.0 with PCGI through apache redirection. MySQL server version is 3.21.30 installed from mysql-3.21.30-rh50.1.rpm and mysql-client from mysql-client-3.21.30-rh50.1.rpm. OS is RedHat 5.2. (with no attribution at myhost/Zope/ yet. this site is not 'released' yet). (actually I used custum edited ones. however auto-made ones do the same curious thing) I have test several pairs of data input through the search form y and whenever & whatever I did, y-update_anot-x tripple makes words field '0' and do not update any other field. Same pairs succeeded to update through mysql at telnet terminal. Now what is my fault? Please tell me, then you are a God-send angel!!! LEE Kwan Soo p.s. What I'm afraid of is reinstalling mysql from source codes. Should I do it?

It's really nice when that insight catches up with you, and you realize that if you just move your angle of perception a couple of degrees, you'll see that moose that just wandered into the room. After sending off some mail to this list (and getting very useful responses -- thank you to everybody that responded) about Frontier and Zope and Templates and the Apparent Lack Thereof, I ignored it for a while. And I played a little bit (unsuccessfully) with ZServer, periodically looking at the website. I noticed the HOWTO on changing the default object from index_html to whatever you wanted. I also noticed that it DIDN'T really change the default, it just modified index_html to load whatever page you wanted. I suddenly felt both smart and stupid at the same time. I can use index_html as my "template", with index_html loading the page I want rendered. So now my index_html loads index.html. I can create subfolders, with their own index.html, and they all inherit from the index_html, with the style that I want. Blam. There it was. Funny, I've been getting paid to do OOP all these years (with Smalltalk, Java, and C++, but Smalltalk the most), and I didn't see the obvious. dave (finding zen, line by line)
