This is properly an enormous stupid question, but I just can't figure it out. In a folder I have another folder for images within I want to store images. In a document in the main folder I want to refer to images in the images folder. What's the DTML/HTML code for accomplishing this ? Wiebe

HOW do I code up a page in Zope that will allow the user to use the PUT protocol to upload their own web-page? basically I am trying to allow users to create documents, then add meta-data about those documents to a database, and upload the document to hte server. I have a method that aquires the meta-data and creates the folder for the document. However, i don't have an easy way to allow the users to simply provide the file name to upload using a PUT. - Using external method to set/test cookies, test request vars, set vars?

I'm trying to develop an external method that must do the following: 1. check for the existance of a request.cookie 2. set a reply cookie 3. check for variables in the query string Optionally, I'd like to be able to "set" a variable in an external method that could later be tested in DHTML, though this isn't quite as important. However even the most simple external method is giving me an error, read-only buffer, class from line 266 of ExternalMethod.py Does anyone know what this error means? Is it going to be possible to do items 1 through 3 above in an external method? What about item 4? (I could do REQUEST.set() perhaps) Maybe I'm not importing all the modules I need to.. Which modules do I need to get at REQUEST and REPLY? I'm assuming in the [blah blah] you still have the e=HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION:%1? Also, The RewriteCond must come before the Rule, that's what the %1 references. Just checking the obvious there, otherwise what I'd suggest is writing a simple script that spits up your environment settings (perl or python will work) and calling that through it's own RewriteRule and see if HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION is even getting set. This is where having a RewriteLog comes in handy, and it tells you what it's setting and when. A possiblity there is to set up your own copy of Zap, have it run as you listening on a high port, and tweak all the rules and settings till you get it to work. Have you made sure that the Options line for your cgi-bin directory has 'ExecCGI' i.e. <Directory "/www/cgi-bin"> AllowOverride none Options ExecCGI Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> I ask because I struggled for a few hours before realizing that cgi stuff seemed to be working when called directly, but as soon as I used the redirect it stopped working. It's worth a look. - Zope Hosting: Sharing vs Dedicated

I would like to understand these issues more clearly: *Sharing Zope hosting as planned by http://www.codeit.com/announce.html AND *Dedicated Zope with a dedicated server. The February issue of WEBTechniques was where I first learned about ZOPE aka bobo. In that issue www.9netave.net (1) has an ad for a "dedicated server including hardware" for *ONLY* $99/month! I have started to look locally and here in central Maine www.ctel.net (1) would let me put my hardware at their center with "Dual T3's" for $300/month. With their rack mount hardware, it's $550/month. There seems to be a benefit to having one's own server connected to a big pipe. Now, it seems like some issues about sharing zope have not been resolved. Say I share a Zope server with my one domain name and sell service to _my_ customers. * What databases can I use? *Can I use add-on products? * Do they have to be tested by the Host service first? *How do I get charged If I want to add a second and more domain names? I've started to look at these options because Hosting at my location would be very expensive with a small pipe. Cable modems which aren't here yet may be problematic in their own way. Of course, the bottom line is the cost: ~Shared: US$50/month +... VS ~Dedicated: $100 to $300 to infinity and beyond! I look forward to thoughts and Ideas from others. This is the only thing I can see that might be causing this (in Zope, the REQUEST is passed as the mapping param, and  works). Given a template's constructor: def __init__(self, source_string='', mapping=None, __name__='<string>', **vars): ...if you instantiated it using: my_doc=TemplateClass(src, REQUEST, var1='', var2='') then  _should_ work. If, however, you were to use: my_doc=TemplateClass(src, some_other_mapping, REQUEST=REQUEST, ...) or even: my_doc=TemplateClass(src, REQUEST=REQUEST, ...) then  wouldn't work, because REQUEST isn't being used as the default mapping for name lookup (though  would work as expected). After uncompressing it, you should have a directory lib/python/Prodcuts/ZODBCDA (I think) in your Zope directory. It should contain several files. Restarting Zope makes it visible in the add list. --Paul
