This really concerns MySQLmodule.c, not ZMySQLDA per se. But I found these problems while working w. Zope, so thought it best to address the Zope list too. Problem 1: When compiling against MySQL 3.22.14b-gamma, this warning is displayed: ./MySQLmodule.c: In function `pythonify_row': ./MySQLmodule.c:199: warning: assignment from incompatible pointer type Cause: mysql_fetch_lengths() returns 'unsigned long *'. The result is being assigned to 'unsigned int *'. Not a problem on many 32-bit platforms, but what the hey. Problem 2: When attempting to do an invalid database insert (e.g. inserting with a duplicate key value), Python dumps core. Cause: In function DBH_query(), not all fields of sth are properly initialized. When a database insert fails, sth->res has a random value. The subsequent free(self->res) in STH_dealloc() generates a bus error. The attached context diff contains the fixes I used. Speaking of "Zopespot" - I'm surprised slashdot hasn't yet mentioned zope, it seems very apropos. And I submitted it too. Hasn't CmdrTaco realized we're planning a takeover ? :) -Simon

I think they are already in the name space when your module is imported into it. You are going under the assumption that your module is the top level entity, it is not. They tell me they don't want to put python code in the object database. Just why should be put on the zope web site. Hi All, I've just uploaded a tar file to the contrib area. It contains a Zope folder with a bunch of demos showing how to get started with DTML. It should be useful for newbies to get a feel for how to achieve the 'bare-bones' functionality you might want when creating a site. (Looping, Traversing, Storing Info, Creating Folders etc.). The file untars in the top level zope directory, and has the following files... var/export.bbe - the contents of the folder. Extensions/timesTable.py - An external methods file Extensions/README_DTMLExamples.txt - How to load the folder Comments welcome. Cheers, Andy.

Would it be possible to 'extend' the SQLtest class to be able to dynamically generate more things than just 'in' and '='? I'd like to be able to put the following in int type textboxes: '1-10' will generate the SQL fragment: (column BETWEEN 1 AND 10). '1,3,5-12,17-28,34,37,39' will generate the SQL fragment: ((column IN (1,3,5,34,37,39)) OR (column BETWEEN 5 AND 12) OR (column BETWEEN 17 AND 28)) '> 34' will generate the SQL fragment (note: all numeric comparisons should be available (>,<,>=,<=,!=, etc): (column > 34) In text type textboxes id like to be able to put the following: 'Z%' and have it generate: (column LIKE 'Z%') And finally in date type textboxes I'd like to be able to specify a list or range of dates (similar to the int type above) with the exception that to specify a date range you wouldn't be able to use the '-' character. You could use something like 'to' like this: '01-JAN-1999 to 01-MAR-1999' Note that none of these should be very difficult to implement. I actually have a web based database app (connecting to Oracle and written in Perl) which does all of this (and more). All my queries are dynamically generated using the above rules. I've become VERY interested in Zope as of late and am trying to push for our Apps to be more Product centric and Zope seems heaven-sent, so hence my interest in porting some/all of our apps to Zope Products. Getting everyone else to see that vision is another matter... My question is whether this would be a generally useful addition to SQLtest or if it should be created as an Extension Module? I was speaking with a coworker here yesterday, and he was saying that one advantage that perl has over python is CPAN. He said that there are tons of python modules out there, but you really have to go looking for them. I've seen a few Products that people have put together here and posted on their own websites. I think it would be good to take the contrib area on the Zope site seriously, so that it will grow into a repository as useful as CPAN. To get things going in that direction requires the cooperation of everyone. If DC can keep the contrib area organized as the number of Products increases, and if people make sure they submit their Products to the site, we'll have the beginnings of CZAN :) Kevin -- Kevin Dangoor kid(a)ans.net / 734-214-7349

Well, I've been having fun poking around Zope, and whilst learning, I came up with a simple,but usefull Zope product, ExternalLink. It's used to represent hyperlink, and is usefull for linklists. It: - can check links - also keeps track of statistics on the remote document (size, mimetype & last modified date) - can count click-thrus - has a facility for batch creation of ExternalLink objects by uploading a simple textfile And it includes a ZPublisher.Client script runnable from a cronjob to automate link checking (when the script runs, it does the actual contacting of the remote server itself to avoid blocking the Zope server) So, get it, use it, love it :> http://www.integral.org/~dragondm/python/ExternalLink.tar.gz -The Dragon De Monsyne

I have not tested if It could be the proxy server, as I have not yet properly set it up on my home computer. some more facts: 1. On my clients computer the switch to Apache 1.3.3 does not make any difference, so I guess it is a pcgi/Bobo problem 2. I use the pcgi info file to set PYTHONUNBUFFERED=1 BTW, does PYTHONUNBUFFERED affect also pcgi-publisher.exe ? 3. I once got an uncomplete response on my home machine as well, it was the first time I accessed the page after startup, i.e. the request that started the Bobo server. So it just _may_ be that it is a performance related issue. Just speculating, but it may happen to other people as well, and they just don't notice, because: a) it does not happen on very short files b) it is usually hard to detect if the end of file is missing I see it each time because the end of file contains a JavaScript function that is invoked using onLoad() and thus each time it is missing IE4.0 shows an alert (in addition to not running the function) ---------- Hannu
