products folder

Hello zope, I am new to zope, but I tried to read documentation carefully. Anyway I have a problem with installing new products. Lots of products from zope.org/Products must be just unpacked or copied to the Zope's 'Products' folder. What folder should I use to install new products? Why should I use only that folder? Under Windows zope 2.7.3 default setup puts executables in the "C:\Program Files\Zope-Zope-2.7.3-0" and creates a folder "C:\Zope-Instance\". So I have 3 'Products' folders: C:\Zope-Instance\Products\ C:\Program Files\Zope-2.7.3-0\lib\python\Products\ C:\Program Files\Zope-2.7.3-0\skel\Products\ I used to put new products to the first 'Products'-folder. But I noticed that a lot of products, which store additional files on disk and try to access them, do not work. Button Builder for example (and ZopeBoard also) has a hardcoded variable localdir = SOFTWARE_HOME+'/Products/'+ProductFolder So ButtonBuilder must be copied to C:\Program Files\Zope-2.7.3-0\lib\python\Products\ and doesn't work if you put it somewhere else. -- Best regards, Pavlo mailto:pkorzh@ua.fm ICQ 155870780

Using a variable for downloaded fileneme

I have the following Python script which allows the user to download an XML file generated by the DTML method 'controlmakeXML'. I want to be able to generate the filename (fname) on the fly from the request but I'm having a problem with the syntax to insert the variable as filename=fname in the script. Zope and Javascript

I've run into a problem that spawned what is probably a stupid question. I'm probably doing something wrong here. I've been using JavaScript to control some cookie functions. I created a page template called cookies.js and then placed a link on the page that looks like this; '<script language="JavaScript" src="cookies.js"></script>'. This has worked well for months. I was trying out a routine I found that uses Javascript to sort HTML tables on the browser side. Following the same pattern, I created a page template called "sorttable.js" and pasted the sample code into it. When I tried to save it, I got an invalid tag error on this line; for (ti=0;ti<tbls.length;ti++) { Obviously it thinks the less than sign is the start of a tag. I didn't run into this before because my cookie script doesn't have any less than or greater than signs. Since java scripts are pretty integral to web development, I'm sure Zope must have some way of processing them. I know I could put the script in an external file but that seems like it would be kind of kludgy. There are lots of different object types available; python script, structured text, etc. but which one would you use to store a java script file? Joe Goldthwaite

HI all. I have zop hostnig on zettai.net and I have instaled there zope WebMail product. And I cant save messages which I'm sending from that product becouse that prodact can not do the append command to server. can anyone help me?

My Installation Problem 2.7.3

Im absolute zope beginner and tried to solve my probability Easy-Problem by googling and looking in the forums, but it seems much confusing to me. There are informations to use user nobody and sticky bits, but on the other site I found informations such: http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Books/ZopeBook/2_6Edition/InstallingZope.… Note: for Zope 2.7, none of this permission-sticky-bit-setting nonsense is necessary. Instead, just set the effective-user parameter to an existing (nonroot) username in the zope.conf file and start Zope as root. All files including log and pid files will be written as the lesser-privileged user. If I try to make an instance of Zope 2.7.3 with /opt/Zope-2.7/bin/mkzopeinstance.py I don't see an error (is there a logfile?) but if I start the Zope-instance I get the following error. Can someone help me? I use Python 2.3.4 After completing mkzopeinstance there are no files in the VAR-directory. Is this correct? Yes, that makes sense. The main problem I'm having is that this would need to be set up as a Product - There'll be several of the items set up, and I'd like to create new ones with a minimum of fuss. I'd need to create a ZCatalog programatically - fairly easy really, but I'd need to protect the contents somehow, I guess revoking the appropriate role would do it. So, I guess there's a new question - if I create a product that subclasses ObjectManger, what access does it have to its subobjects? Would it always have Owner access? No can't import. All: I've recently up to RH9 using python 2.1.1 with zope 2.4.3. KeyError:-1074637436

Hi, We have been deploying MailManager 1.0 which is a Zope product for few months. It initially works very well. For some reason MailManager suddenly keeps returning KeyError with value such as -1074637436 (it can be any number). It seems that it is ZCTextIndex error because the error log always includes the following traceback ..... Module Products.ZCatalog.CatalogPathAwareness, line 110, in reindex_object Module Products.ZCatalog.CatalogPathAwareness, line 106, in unindex_object Module Products.ZCatalog.ZCatalog, line 558, in uncatalog_object Module Products.ZCatalog.Catalog, line 411, in uncatalogObject Module Products.ZCTextIndex.ZCTextIndex, line 181, in unindex_object Module Products.ZCTextIndex.OkapiIndex, line 68, in unindex_doc Module Products.ZCTextIndex.BaseIndex, line 176, in unindex_doc Module Products.ZCTextIndex.BaseIndex, line 304, in _del_wordinfo I do pack the database, update the catalog, restart Zope but they only can help for a short time then we encounter KeyError again. This error usually occurs when users try to modify the ticket which is Zope object. The database is about 200MB and the catalog holds > 2000 objects. Has anyone experience similar issue?
