dtml-in strange behavour?

Hi, Could someone explain why iterating over a list of lists, like this: <dtml-in expr="[[1,1],[2,2]]"> <dtml-var sequence-item><br> </dtml-in> gives as result: [1,1] [2,2] but iterating over a list of tuples like this: <dtml-in expr="[(1,3),(2,4)]"> <dtml-var sequence-item><br> </dtml-in> gives as result 3 4 A list of tuples is created for instance when applying the items() method on a dictionary resulting from a SQL method call. When doing the above iterations in Python console, it gives the expected result eg. two lists and two tuples. Thx for any help -- Marc - a bloody Zope beginner -- mettwoch(a)pt.lu

upload post request file object

hello all i'm currently implementing a virtual filesystem client using zope and gnome.vfs i have the following question regarding file uploads how do i get a file like object (for iteration) from a "POST" upload request in order to proxy the data to the actual target storage i don't want to load the whole data into memory, so i have to do this in junks tia, bernd ps: i alread took a look at OFS.Image, but this uses some kind of persistence stuff, hm

Catatonic Zope Server

I'm having some trouble with a Zope server becoming unresponsive. The server runs quite a busy site, and sometimes has memory problems. We have been restarting zeo, and then zope, every few hours (with some five minutes difference inbetween). Recently, the disk containing Data.fs became full, and we had some strange conflict errors, where the error message appeared to suggest that our transaction had caused a conflict because it had started many hours ago, which of course it hadn't. We truncated the Data.fs some and the problems went away. A few days later, we had a new problem. Right after flipping cache files, Zope began to log a flood of errors such as: (our cache file).zec invalidate: oid mismatch: expected 0x0edcd6 read '(data)' The data looked like object pickles, including strings from our application. We deleted all the cache files, and deleted the Data.fs.index, and restarted. We haven't seen any obvious data errors since. That may be related to the current issue, or it may be a red herring. But now, the server has gone into a catatonic state just after a restart, at least twice. In this state, nothing appears in the Z2 or event logs, and requests for pages appear to mostly time out (although apache, for whatever reason, served up empty responses with a 200 ok code for some Zope requests during this time). The server sits in this dead state until it is restarted. The last time it happened, it would not restart correctly until zeo had also been restarted. I'm baffled. Database call before Product installation

Following the discussion of ZClasses vs Products earlie this year I decided to convert some of my ZClass utilities to real Products, and I have run into an early problem. Im developing with Zope 2.7.3 and MySQL 3.23 but don't think the versions are particularly relevant. The database connection works fine - I used the Connection Test tab to create the table I need and make an initial entry. I want to get some information from the database during the instanciation sequence. I have Googled for hours, looked at other Products and looked at the source code for ZSQLMethods and DB and lots of other things, and I am stuck. This is where I have got to: I have a dtml form that lists available connections for the user to select from. That passes a connection id to a second form. In the second form I have a bit of dtml: <dtml-in expr="getFilters(connection_id)"> <dtml-var Filter> [just a list at this stage] <dtml-in> In the product I have tried this: def getFilters(self, connection_id): return SQL('getFilterSQL', 'Get Filter List', connection_id, '', _getFiltersSQL) where _getFiltersSQL=""" select Filter from Table group by Filter order by Filter """ [just the table name at this stage - no parameters] (which I think creates an SQL object) It gives me this (partial) traceback on submission of Form 2: * Module App.special_dtml, line 175, in _exec * Module DocumentTemplate.DT_In, line 685, in renderwob * Module Shared.DC.ZRDB.DA, line 492, in __getitem__ * Module Shared.DC.ZRDB.Aqueduct, line 313, in __getitem__ KeyError: 0 (Also, an error occurred while attempting to render the standard error message.) and I have tried this: def getFilters(self, connection_id): return SQL('getFilterSQL', 'Get Filter List', connection_id, '', _getFiltersSQL)() (which I think calls the SQL object) It gives me this output: The database connection MySQL_database_connection cannot be found. (Also, an error occurred while attempting to render the standard error message.) and I have tried this: def getFilters(self, connection_id): connection = getattr(self, connection_id) return connection().query(_getFiltersSQL) (which I think calls a method of the Connection object) I know that this returns ([{'width': 6, 'null': 1, 'type': 't', 'name': 'Filter'}], (('Public',),)) but the dtml-in loop does not produce anything. [Public is one of the Filters, nothing to do with Zope] I would be grateful if anybody can tell me the best way to read from (and write to) the database before the Product is installed, or point me to good documentation or an example Product. Set up different user accounts on the machine, then run two instances of the browser using different accounts. Under Windows 2000/XP, hold down shift, right-click on the shortcut and choose "Run as". Under Linux, use "su". Should do exactly what you want. I need to open two instances of a browser, one as one window as a user in the system with one login and set of session variables, and the other as another user (usually a manager) to manipulate the system through the ZMI. Likewise, sometime is is useful to open two instances of the system so that you can look in one place with one window, and in another place in the other. Most current browsers believe they are the only show in town run multiple instances as separate threads (or so it appear) happily sharing data. This causes problems when, as we do, naviagation information is saved in session variables. The precise behavior depends upon the browser. I guess I am looking for a way to enable the desired behavior by hacking Zope since it's unlikely that I can change the way browsers with an installed base behave. Anyone else encountered this issue or solved the problem.

by default, you can't use urllib.quote inside Zope, only in external methods. Is the CVS to SVN migration complete

It looks like the source code repository has moved to svn.zope.org from cvs.zope.org, but I've seen no announcement. Has the migration been completed? The old cvs site looks gutted and deprecated but there's no announcement pointing to the new svn.zope.org site. Panic for one of my collegues about to download the latest CVS of Zope 2.7.X
