Ok I figured it out. If you want to go even further, you could write a python script to make sure the IP address is valid and make that your if condition: <dtml-if "validIpAddress(ipAddress)">insert... zsql method question

I am trying to do an insert but I do not want the insert to occur if the value of "ipAddress" was not entered in the form. So far I have this: insert into NetInt(IPAddress, SystemNetName) Values( '<dtml-var name="ipAddress" sql_quote>', '<dtml-var name="HostName" sql_quote>' ) I am thinking that I have to put a conditional statement such as <dtml-if ipAddress> insert into NetInt(IPAddress, SystemNetName) Values( '<dtml-var name="ipAddress" sql_quote>', '<dtml-var name="HostName" sql_quote>' ) </dtml-if> Any suggestions? refreshing the content

Hi all. Maybe it's mostly the Plone question, but I think that Zope-only users can have the same question. My configuration: instance of Plone 2.0.2 on Zope 2.7. I have portlets on my site. So the question: is there any problem to refresh the piece of the content (in my case - the content of one portlet) without the refreshing of the whole page? Persistent Dictionary

Hi When a user ask to my system for some data I "construct" a dictionary with all relevant data that I need (for example python scripts, Page Templates, etc) I a part of the precess I need to make these dictionary persists between calls I'm trying PersistentDict from http://www.zope.org/Members/AndrewWilcox/PersistentListDict and works fine (I can see the dictionary) but when I try to access to these dictionary keys I have these error: Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access 'key in the dictionary I'm try to access' in this context My question will be: How can I create a persistent dictionary with some Zope objects references? Yes, this is my biggest problem, how do I call a simple xml-rpc method from javascript? The xml-rpc server is not a zope server it is a perl script that is running on my local computer. Ideally this is what I what to do, I want to click on a link and onclick will call a javascript function and that function will call a xml-rpc method, this will all occur in my zope page template. Sounds basic, but I don't know where to start. I just started learning xml-rpc so I don't know all of the technicalities behind it, so I am so sorry for not explaining myself correctly before. A Zope Page Template (or a Python Script or a DTML method, etc) is capable of *generating* JavaScript code in rendered output. However this is about as much integration as there is between Zope and Javascript. Javascript operates completely within the browser and Zope really knows nothing about it. Are you trying to access an XML-RPC server via JavaScript? Is that XML-RPC server a Zope server? Or is it some other system? It might be advantageous to serve up the JavaScript and HTML from a system other than Zope to get a better understanding of what's going on here. You should be able to set up a static piece of HTML (maybe served up by Apache) with JavaScript in it to access an XML-RPC server (Zope or otherwise). That will make clear one source of potential confusion temporarily while you get the solution worked out. Zope will provide very little on top of whatever you devise to facilitate XML-RPC communications between the browser (in JavaScript) and whatever server you're trying to talk to.
