- Zope - Zope lists

Newbie question

Hi, all, I know this isn't a Plone list, but I have what I think is a general question that also relates to Zope. I'm trying to intercept the 404 error in a Plone website and redirect the user to another page/website . I have already tried to put something like this <tal:block tal:define="dummy python:request.RESPONSE.redirect('http://www.google.be')"/> in /portal_skins/custom/default_error_message but it seems that won't work because at that point it's too late to send a redirect. What can I do to achieve a redirect ? Thanks in advance Bert De Ridder

Re: [Zope] Setting the accept-language header from zpt fails
by Josef Meile 08 Sep '04

Hi Vahur, you forgot to post your solution to the list. I think it is worth to be posted, so here it's: > Hello! > For me it's working with > <html i18n:domain="myDomain" > tal:define="x python:request.set('HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE', > context.giveLanguage())"> It worked for me too and it's easier than what I was trying to do: Setting programatically the html header. Please note that you don't need the "i18n:domain="myDomain" part, only setting the language is enough. Thanks for your useful reply, Josef

calling a DTML Method from a DTML MEthod from a Python PRoduct...
by Bill Hewitt 08 Sep '04

08 Sep '04

Ive got a need to call a DTML Method from a DTML Method I call in a Python Product: In the Python File, I use to call the Creation Form (a DTML Method): manage_addCampusForm = HTMLFile('campus_dtml/CampusAddForm',globals()) manage_addCampusForm needs to call: tableSubmitButtons = HTMLFile('campus_dtml/tableSubmitButtons',globals()) Which is in the same directory as "manage_addCampusForm". Where do I put the second method above so that the Python Product/first DTML method finds it? so far I have tried to just add it to the bottom of the file and in the Class Definition - but I get an error that the "tableSubmitButtons" method cant be found.... What am I doing wrong here? TIA WPH

cookie problem with dtml-tree
by Ruediger Wolff 08 Sep '04

08 Sep '04

Hello! In the documentation of dtml is mentioned that the <dtml-tree> is using cookies for storing the state of the tree. According to my expierience this works with a Mozilla-browser but not with MS Internet Explorer. I think I tried the most -if not all- Security/Privacy-settings of the IE. So my question is: How can I convince the IE to accept the Zope - tree cookies? or How can I convince Zope to create tree-s cookies that work with somehow average cookie-settings of the IE? I would be happy about any hint or idea! Ruediger Wolff ________________________________________ http://www.epost.de - das Kommunikationsportal der Deutschen Post

Product or Custom for Auth.
by Jason Leach 07 Sep '04

07 Sep '04

Zope: If I need to authentication agains a SQL db, is it worth using a product like PluggableUserFolder or can I just whip up a form, query and PythonScript to do this? I don't need to add or manage users, just authenticate them? Check user/passwd. Jason.

Setting the accept-language header from zpt fails
by Josef Meile 07 Sep '04

07 Sep '04

Hi, I'm trying to set the accept-language from zpt in order to force PlacelessTranslationService to use other language than the one set on my browser. I have an index_html template with I call like this: http://myurl/index_html?lang=de Theorically the template should check if lang exist, then set the accept-language header, but it doesn't work. It seems like either PlacelessTranslationService takes always the 'accept-language' from the browser, or I'm doing something else wrong. Here is the code: <div tal:define="global lang python:request.get('lang',0)" tal:omit-tag=""></div> <div tal:condition="lang" tal:omit-tag="" tal:define="dummy python:request.RESPONSE.setHeader('Accept-Language',lang)"></div> <html> <body> <h4 i18n:translate="" i18n:domain="JMColorPicker">Please choose a color</h4> Language: <div tal:replace="lang"></div> </body> </html> When calling the template with the "lang" parameter, the language will be printed correctly (ie: it will print de), but the message "Please choose a color" will be translated to the language of my browser (ie: es) and not to the language specified by "lang" (ie: de). I even added: <head> <meta tal:condition="lang" http-equiv="Accept-Language" content="en" tal:attributes="content lang"> </head> But it didn't work either. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this not possible with PlacelessTranslationService? Thanks in advanced, Josef

memory-leak, would the chrism-setrlimit "patch" help?
by Sascha Ottolski 07 Sep '04

07 Sep '04

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone knows why this way of restarting zope in case of memory leaks never made it to the HEAD? http://cvs.zope.org/Zope/Attic/z2.py.diff?r1=1.56&r2=1.55.10.1&only_with_ta… AutoLance used to work nice, but seems not to be updatead any more, so it's no option for Zope-2.7 and linux-2.6. I've seen some suggestions for external tests, like http://www.zopewiki.org/CheckZopeMem, but chris' way seems to be so much simpler. Does anyone know if the setrlimit solution has problems? Thanks, Sascha

Zope, Excel, CookieCrumbler and MS Internet Explorer
by Ausum Studio 07 Sep '04

07 Sep '04

I tried this Zopelab's tip: http://www.zopelabs.com/cookbook/1075841024 .. with the idea of allowing my clients to open simple tables within their Excel spreadsheets. Using IE (our primary target browser) tt works fine sometimes, but most of the time they get an error message from IE itself that tells it can't download the file, after having showed the dialog Open|Save|Cancel. No relevant error message appears in the event log neither in the site error log object. Curious thing is that in that dialog box ( Open|Save|Cancel ), sometimes the file type appears and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, it means the problem is about to happen. So after digging a little with Shane's Tcpwatch I've noticed that the file would open only whether a basic authentication header was sent, in despite of the cookie information (that is always sent). This problem only happens in IE. Using Opera or Firefox won't show any problem. Also I'm using CookieCrumbler, so after I removed the "login" object at the root of my app, IE is no longuer showing problems. Has anyone had this same experience and eventually come up with a workaround that still uses cookies authentication? Thanks in advance, Ausum
