[Warning] Potential serious Session/TemporaryStorage problem
by Dieter Maurer 03 Sep '04

03 Sep '04

Recently, strange session related "Conflict Errors" have been reported. The strange thing about these conflicts is that the timestamp when the object was read from the ZODB is *AFTER* the timestamp the object has at commit time. Apparently, the object state jumped backward in time. When the object is modified, this results in a "ConflictError". However, when the object is only read, then old data is used -- probably without anyone noticing this. This might be a reason for the many inconsistencies Zope's Session implementation is plagued with. Here is the respective collector entry: http://collector.zope.org/Zope/1488 I will try to localize the place where this jumping backward in time happens. -- Dieter

Perhaps you should try what Max suggested. > I also suspect that some of these products might be of help: > > http://sourceforge.net/projects/localfs > > http://zope.org/Members/shh/ExtFile I think this would be a good solution for you. You could perhaps add a localfs folder or an ExtFile calling the manage_add method of such classes. I also considered them for my solution, but actually I didn't use them because I don't want to add more extra dependencies to my Product and my applet doesn't change. In case it changes some day, then I will have to think about an update method, but I think it isn't difficult to do it.

Hi Raja, some few month ago, I was trying to do the same: Store a java applet class on the file system and load it dynamically from each instance of my product, but I didn't succeeded. You can see my attempt on: http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2004-May/149813.html Anyway, I solved it storing the java applet on the Zope DB when initializing my product. The code is attached to the message. After adding the file to the Zope DB, then you can use its path on the <applet> tag and it should work. Adding to Zsql method result object
by Peter Millar 03 Sep '04

03 Sep '04

I have a query returning data from the zsql method. How can I append to the results object that I receive. Lets say I select a,b,c from mytable I get a results object . from my use/reading of this it is a list of dictionaries ... I thought that I could do this to append a new row myrow = dict([('a','1'),('b','2'),('c','3')]) aData=aData, myrow But alas I get an error: AttributeError: 'tuple' object has no attribute 'dictionaries' Could anyone shed some light on this please, not so much the error as I understand that ... But how I can do append a row to this data structure. ____________________________________________ Peter Millar

Ops, I realiced that the function called is missing. You have to call it on the initialize method like this: _createFileInFolder(appContext,absolutePath,'yourFile.jar', '/your/zope/path',title='utils') > Josef Meile wrote: > >> Hi Raja, >> >> some few month ago, I was trying to do the same: Store a java applet >> class on the file system and load it dynamically from each instance of >> my product, but I didn't succeeded. Need to programmatically change image content
by John Schinnerer 03 Sep '04

03 Sep '04

Hello, I need to programmatically replace the 'content' (e.g. the image file data, if I grok correctly) of an Image object with new data via file upload from web form. I imagine I could just delete the existing object and then add the new one... Is that the best/easiest way, or is there some slick way to replace the image file data for a given Image object? thanks, John S. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Lost the path to my DTMLFile in my product
by Jonathan Cyr 02 Sep '04

Hello, I've written a python product that loads DTML pages from a /dtml folder in my product... works fine. When I moved my environment to Linux, Zope is still looking on my old heirarchy. Error Log Snippet: 2004-08-31T07:23:24 PROBLEM(100) ZPublisher DTML file 'C:\Apollo1-Zope-271\Products\WWWedding\dtml/index_html.dtml' could not be read ------ 2004-08-31T07:29:29 PROBLEM(100) ZPublisher DTML file 'C:\Apollo1-Zope-271\Products\WWWedding\dtml/wwroot.dtml' could not be read ------ 2004-08-31T07:29:42 PROBLEM(100) ZPublisher DTML file 'C:\Apollo1-Zope-271\Products\WWWedding\dtml/wwroot.dtml' could not be read ------ 2004-08-31T07:29:53 PROBLEM(100) ZPublisher DTML file 'C:\Apollo1-Zope-271\Products\WWWedding\dtml/wwroot.dtml' could not be read Old instances of my product have this problem, in my code it seems to be a relative call... how do I get Zope to find the linux products resources. get_transaction().commit() exceptions
by Tim Edwards 02 Sep '04

02 Sep '04

Hi, We are using MailManager from logicalware (http://mailmanager.sourceforge.net/) This application stores its data as objects in the ZODB. A seperate thread checks the email server and saves new tickets (emails) to the ZODB. This mail-checking thread somtimes gets ConflictError at the call to get_transaction().commit(). This exception goes unhandled and the mail-checking thread dies. This means that the product will still work - it just won't retreive any email messages. Is it a good idea to try and catch this exception? If so what should we do with it? will catching it stop the mail-checking thread from dying? Thanks Tim Edwards Analyst Programmer Henry Walker Eltin Phone: 02 9887 6393 Email: tim.edwards(a)hwe.com.au
