Folks, We've had a number of requests from customers to allow bulk upload of images and various content types (Open Office documents, etc.) into a Zope/Plone Content Management System. There doesn't seem to be any standard way of doing this built into Zope. The question I have is "Why?" Has the Zope Corporation ever considered building this functionality into their FTP or WebDAV server? I'd like to see something like the following: 1. User has a folder on his Linux/Windows file system with one or more content types (images, OO docs,Word docs, etc.) 2. User does a drag and drop to a WebDAV folder which appears to the client to be just another folder on the disk. 3. The webDav server automatically determines the content type and creates it in the selected target folder using the appropriate factory when it receives the file, and uses the "file" factory if it can't automatically determine the file type... Is there something I'm missing on this? Thanks, Braun Brelin

Moving from Linux to FreeBSD - problems with old Zope instances

Hello, I'm about to migrate a server from Linux (Mandrake 9.2) to FreeBSD-5.2.1. I have moved my Zope-2.7 instances without a problem. Now ... my 2.6.1 instances are not migrated very well. Some of them runs like a charm. Others core dumps when you access the sites for the first time. The same goes for one of my two 2.5 instances. It just crashes when the site is accessed for the first time. Now I suspect python to be the problem here. With Zope-2.7 you needed to compile python with bigger thread size on BSD in order for it to work. Do I need to compile python with anything special to make them work with older Zope instances (I'm using python 2.1.3 for this). I really don't get this but I'm sure there is some reasonable explanation once I figure out what is happening :-) Greetings, Gitte Wange

Zope Error

Hello, I have installed Zope 2.6 on my prior server and setup my setting and it works successfully. However, I am currently migrated to another server which is having Zope 2.7.2 OR 2.6 and have uploaded by Data.fs. The problem I encounter: 1. It seems to be working fine when browsing http://ip_address:8080 <http://ip_address:8080/> 2. I tried to browse http://ip_address:8080/manage, but failed to login using the correct username and password. I have tested using the brand new Data.fs, it seems to be working fine. Temporary Folder Object Creation

Is it possible to create an object of type Temporary Folder at or below the root level? I tried doing this via the ZMI but it isn't one of the object types that appears in the list. Is there another way of doing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

ZODB connection pool (defined in ZODB/DB.py)

The size of the pool defaults to 7. Except for testing code, I do not believe that it is larger for any DB instance. What's the relationship between this pool size and the number of Zope threadsi, if any?

SSL and Session Data

Is there a difference in how Zope handles session data (i.e. anything stored within the SESSION attribute of the REQUEST object) when it is running with and without SSL? For some reason, when I access Zope securely (i.e. https://...) my session data is not retained as I access different pages of my application. This does not happen when I use http://... to access Zope. I was able to determine this by using <dtml-var "REQUEST.SESSION"> in my DTML documents. Any help would be greatly appreciated. local roles

Hello, Can local roles can be made appear somewhere but with acquisition? like, If I have two folders in zope root, test1 and test2, inside folder test1 is an object which holds local roles. /(zope root, folder, whatever) |-test1(folder, holds local roles) \-more folders&objects |-test2 \ folders&objects Now, being in folder test2, can I somehow make zope go and look for roles from folder test1 Case isn't that simple, so, I can't use global roles, or move local roles from one place to another Or any other possible solutions? Somehow mirror roles from one place to another? Vahur

including arbitrary files in zope products

Hi, I am facing a basic problem with Zope that I'm unable to solve. I want to embed a java applet (jar) in my zope product. The jar file lives as "<Product Basedir>/www/foo.jar" on the filesystem. I want to make this available as "<Product Instance Dir>/foo.jar" inside zope. To include ZPT files, I'm able to do - from Products.PageTemplates.PageTemplateFile import PageTemplateFile ... class Foo(Folder): ... index_html = PageTemplateFile('zpt/index_html', globals()) and make zpt files available inside zope. How can I do the same for arbitrary files such as java archives and others? I don't know how to use the "File" object for this purpose. Can someone please help? Thanks in advance. - Raja

Mounting secondary ZEO storages

I tried deleting session_folder and restarting before re-adding the folder, to no avail. The "sessions" storage is mounted - it appears in the control panel. It just doesn't get used. Any hints? Newbie Zope Question

I am trying to build a table of properties for each object located in a folder. I can get the objects OK, but it doesn't seem to be able to pick the user-defined properties (although it does pick up the title property just fine). Here is the code.
