Webdav and mimetypes
by Kirk Strauser 09 Aug '04

Is there any way to persuade a "vanilla" Zope 2.7.0 installation (read: no Plone, CMF, etc.) to send reasonable mimetypes for things like Python scripts or DTML methods or documents? -- Kirk Strauser The Day Companies

It would be most helpful if you: - posted the exact code that is not working (omitting superfluous bits if necessary) - provided a traceback for the error you are experiencing. Otherwise it is doubtful anyone will be able to see the problem. -Casey On Mon, 9 Aug 2004 15:40:56 -0500 "Laura McCord" <Laura.McCord(a)doucet-austin.com> wrote: > I have <div tal:define="resString python:here.increment()"> > and I want the value of resString to be passed through the following > code: > > <div onClick="expandcontent(resString)"..... > > and I need to use it here too: > > <div id=resString class=.... > > This is not working. Make os.popen() available to scripts
by Simon Forster 09 Aug '04

09 Aug '04

I would like to make os.popen() available to python scripts added via the Zope management interface [1]. Following a previous posting, people pointed me to zope/lib/python/Products/PythonScripts/README.txt and Paul Winkler added to that a URL <http://www.zopelabs.com/cookbook/1074897091>. Following the README all I need do is create an __init__.py file with the content: from Products.PythonScripts.Utility import allow_module allow_module('os.popen') in an appropriate products folder. As this got me nowhere I dug around and found that "# These have been relocated, and should be imported from AccessControl" so I modified this to: from AccessControl import allow_module allow_module('os.popen') This I've done and indeed, I have the appropriate product listed in the Control Panel. When I call my testScript, it all works fine up to: return popen(cmd_str).read() Where cmd_str is a valid string which has been run in a standalone python environment. When I uncomment this line I get endless requests for a username:password pair from the browser. Quite obviously I'm doing something wrong. At this point in time I do not understand Zope at all and the more I read, the more confused I get :-( Can someone point me in the right direction? Many thanks Simon Forster _____________________________________________________ LDML Ltd, 62 Pall Mall, London, SW1Y 5HZ, UK Tel: +44 (0)70 9230 5244 Fax: +44 (0)70 9230 5247 _____________________________________________________ [1] Actually, I don't care where I call os.popen() from. I've played with external scripts and started down the road of futzing with a product to do this. However, the simplest approach seems to be the one I following at the moment. Once I can get this working, hopefully I can progress in other areas.

local file system & external editor
by VIGNAUX Philippe 09 Aug '04

Hi all ! My zope config : Zope 2.6.4 (binary release, python 2.1, win32-x86), python 2.1.3, win32 My problem : I'm using a < local file system > containing some picture (jpg). Its name is PHVFS Im' also using < external editor > I also have some picture (jpg) contained in a common zope folder (named TST_FOLDER) (nb : PHVFS & TST_FOLDER are at the same level in the tree of my zope server) I have configured ZopeEdit.ini so that all < jpg > pictures are open with MS Photo Editor (and all < txt > must be opened under MS WORD). I have a page template showing some URL : - when i'm editing a < jpg > from TST_FOLDER, Photo Editor comes ; I update the picture and I can save it. - when i'm editing a < txt > from TST_FOLDER (eg : a python script), MS WORD comes ; I update the file and I can save it - when i'm editing a < jpg > from PHVFS, Photo Editor comes ; I update the picture and I CANNOT save it. - when i'm editing a < txt > from PHVFS (eg : a notepad file), MS WORD comes ; I update the file and I CANNOT save it. By < cannot save it > I mean that the application agrees to close normally, but when I open the file again, the changes have not been registered. Can anybody tells me what happen ? I need to make it work with a local file system. Thanks in advance. Phil ########################################### This message has been scanned by ICT - Africa Museum

SystemError: NULL object passed to Py_BuildValue
by Olivier Laurent 09 Aug '04

I have this weird error comming up at random intervals: SystemError: NULL object passed to Py_BuildValue It occurs in a Plone site but I don't think it's related to Plone. I have no access to some error log or to the Control Panel since it's showing me the Plone login form whenever I want to access to restricted information. Re-3: [Zope] Problem with zope and long strings - SOS
by jens.walte＠kk.net 09 Aug '04

09 Aug '04

Hi, Zope/Python does not break long strings. This little PythonScript show's it: ----------------------------------------------- longstring = "" x = "1234567890 " for i in range(1000): longstring+=x print """<script language="JavaScript">""" print "alert('%s');" % longstring print """</script>""" return printed ----------------------------------------------- But DTML produces many breaks.. It's nearly unpossible to produce fine DTML-sourcecode without line breaks. so use python! ;) otherwise you can use a visible/hidden <div> to show your error-message. regards Jens Walte -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: Re: [Zope] Problem with zope and long strings - SOS (09-Aug-2004 13:07) From: fowlertrainer(a)anonym.hu To: jw(a)obelix.bb.kk.net > kepes.krisztian wrote at 2004-8-6 14:41 +0200: > > >>My problem is that: > >>I want to js.alert with long strings. > >>I create these strings, and the complete js code. > >>But zope is wrapping my strings like that: > >> > >><script> > >>function aaa{ > >>jscode... > >>s="xxxxxxx ........ > >>"; > >>jscode... > >>}; > >></script> > > > > >Usually, Zope does not break lines even when they get long. > > > >Note, however, that in some cases you must prevent newlines > >around DTML constructs as they may end up in the generated code. > >You can do something like: > > > > <dtml-XXXX ... > > ><dtml-YYYY...> > > > >I.e., you put the newline into the DTML construct. > >The DTML parser does not allow newlines at all places > >but before the ">" is at least possible. > > Sorry, but you are misundertanding me. > My problem is that: > I have a webpage that is show the data in table (grid). > Every data that have error is get a sign with error message. > Sometimes this message is more than 255 character, so the <img title> is > cannot show all chars in message. > > This is cause that I need to show the error in other format. Sorry, but you are misundertanding me. My problem is that: I have a webpage that is show the data in table (grid). Every data that have error is get a sign with error message. Sometimes this message is more than 255 character, so the <img title> is cannot show all chars in message. This is cause that I need to show the error in other format. So I want to alert it with javascript (img onclick). And this time I crashed in zope's "string handling speciality": When I write this: jsscript="alert('a long string with many spaces');" context.page(param=jsscript) that zope is separate the lines in ending ' sign like that: jsscript=alert('a long string with many spaces '); In this time the js interpeter is makes errors. How to I prevent this "wrong working mode" of zope ? I'm not sure, but I think that short strings are showed/generated also like the example. The only solution that I find to I create hidden items without form, and the items are containing the long strings. The JS is get the item that I need, and get the .value, and show it with alert. But with zope js generating the zope is wrap the lines in ending ' sign. So that is the problem. Regards: FT
