Plone Calendar on Zope 2.7?

Hi all, I set-up a new server with Zope 2.7, Plone 2.0.2 and one of our developper would like to use Plone-Calendar. On the installation guide it's written that Plone-Calendar was developped using Zope 2.6.1 and Plone 1.0.5. I would like to know whether someone already used it on Zope 2.7 and whether I should pay attention to something particularly. Thanks Gaël

:method mechanism

Hi all has anyone a manual or a tutorial describing these mechanism? <input class="form-element" type="submit" name="some_method:method" value="Add" /> I try to use it in my product but I have some really surprising result: If some_method is a python script it works perfectly but if I put it in my class definition it doesn't work any idea? TIA

CSVTool, how to use?

I found a new product called CSVTool which exploits the CSV module for Python. http://zope.org/Members/mojix/CSVTool/0.1release I installed the product but to make it run on my Zope (2.6.4rc2) I had to download Win32 Python 2.1 binary: csv.pyd from: http://www.object-craft.com.au/projects/csv/download.html I put this module here: C:\Program Files\zope\bin\lib\win32 Zope started normally and the product was available so I made a test instance along with its usage example script. however, when I went to the Test tab for the script I got this error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: 'csv' module has no attribute 'QUOTE_MINIMAL' what's the deal here? is the python 2.1 version too different from the 2.3 version? documentation is as skimpy as it could get, is there any other info on using this product? Zope, SOAP, and WSDL

Hello, I'm looking for tips from anyone who is using Zope to publish web services. I have made the modifications so that Zope can publish SOAP responses, using SOAPpy. Then, using SOAPpy and ZSI clients, I can call the service (which is merely a Python script sending back a list, but sent back in a SOAP envelope by SOAPpy). This is without using WSDL. When trying with WSDL, it fails. I created a file in my site containing the WSDL definitions of my available service. Then, (outside of Zope), when I create my proxy with the client, I can get the name of the service method back. But when I make a request to the service, it just hangs (I'm using a Python interactive session to test - and it never returns to a prompt). Anyone have ideas? I think I figured it out. All I did was in my <form> I used action="My External Method" However, I still need to put the external method into something so that it will give the user a confiramtion page instead of just running the script without any acknowledgement to the user. Unable to locate object by ID

I'm a fairly experienced programmer/admin, but relatively new to zope (have been forced to pick it up to manage a legacy system written in v 2.3). I'm having a very confusing problem. Essentially I have some dtml code which is used to remove certain objects. The code is as follows: <dtml-var manage_page_header> <dtml-var manage_tabs> <h2><dtml-var document_title></h2> <dtml-call "_.getitem('lhCatalog').uncatalog_object(REQUEST['hoursid'])"> <dtml-call "manage_delObjects(REQUEST['hoursid'],REQUEST)"> Hours entry has been removed. <dtml-var manage_page_footer> When pages are rendered, they look in the catalog and find the object fine. When I call this method, however, it tells me the objects do not exist (using what appears to be the same id). Is it possible that there are two versions of the catalog, or that the catalog is caching objects in some way? Any help on where to start debuggin this is much appreciated. (I'm using v2.4).

DirectoryStorage and UFS2

Howdy: I'd have a Zope/Zeo site that I'd like to set up to use DirectoryStorage. Platform is FreeBSD5.2.1 using UFS2 w/softupdates. Probably will also mirror with vinum. DirectoryStorage docs state: bushy: If you are using a filesystem that is inefficient with directories containing larger than a few hundred items. This is optimal for most conventional filesystems, such as ext2 on linux. In this format each object is given its own directory nested inside 8 levels of subdirectory. Each revision of an object has its own file in that directory. chunky: If you are using a filesystem that is most efficient with directories containing tens of thousands of subdirectories, or hundreds of thousands of files. This is optimal for filesystems such as reiser3 or JFS on linux. In this format, one subdirectory is shared by up to 65000 objects. That subdirectory is nested inside 4 levels of subdirectory. I am unsure whether UFS2 would best utilize the "chunky" or "busy" options. The 64 bit pointers allow for up to 65K subdirs w/in a dir, correct? So the large number of subdirs under chunky format could be handled. Dirhash and dirpref can deal can cope with large numbers of files per directory, correct. But then doesn't UFS2 still use more linear model? Hello ! I want to use a thing like "nonstopped", forever existing cookie. My site has two languages. When the user change the language, I must change it forever. I must store this value, example in cookie, and when he/she is return, I get back to his/her choosen language. But in Zope how to I create a cookie with no time limit ??? Zope X3 3.0.0 alpha 1 released

Dear Zope community, The Zope 3 development team is proud to announce the first alpha release of Zope X3 3.0.0. Zope X3 is the next major Zope release and has been written from scratch based on the latest software design patterns and the experiences of Zope 2. The "X" in the name stands for "experimental", since this release does not try to provide any backward-compatibility to Zope 2. Download http://zope.org/Products/ZopeX3 Distribution This release only requires Python 2.3.3 to run. Here are the steps envolved to get the tarball release working (will be later added to a readme file): - Unpack the release using:: tar xozf ZopeX3-3.0.0a1.tgz - Enter the new, unpacked directory and configure it:: ./configure --prefix=zope You might also need the '--with-python=<Python executable>', if your Python is not in a standard path. - Execute 'make' and 'make install'. - Enter the 'zope' directory and create an instance:: bin/mkzopeinstance -d<instance dir> -u<username>:<password> - Enter the instance directory and try to run zope using 'bin/runzope'. Features Some of the new features include: - Zope 3 uses now ZODB 3.3. - Implementation of multi-adapters and multi-views. Instead of adapting only from one interface to another, one can now adapt many interfaces to another. - Preconditions and constraints on methods are supported now. This allows one to specify the type of objects a container can contain, for example. - Broken objects are now supported, when a particular class of an object is not found anymore. - An API documentation tool was added to provide full online documentation of the public APIs and ZCML. Once Zope 3 has been started, it is accessible under: http://localhost:8080/++apidoc++/ - A stateful tree implementation was added.
