FTP Gateway/Proxy for Zope
by Florian Schulze 14 May '04

14 May '04

Hi! I have the following wishes and can't find a tool which can do it for me. 1. Virtual Hosts 2. Port Forwarding 3. Path rewriting for different roots depending on host and/or user 4. Active FTP -> Passive FTP and Passive FTP -> Active FTP 5. All of this transparently 6. Has to work under Linux An example: Client connects with active FTP to ftp://www.myhost.com which is redirected to ftp://localhost:8021/www_myhost_com with passive FTP (Zope). Another host might be redirected to another FTP server on localhost with another port and root directory. Could someone recommend a tool for this? If not, then I have to write it myself. I thought about doing it with twisted. On which other newsgroups could I post this? Thanks and regards, Florian Schulze

Writing a python script
by Laura McCord 14 May '04

14 May '04

This is my first time writing a python script. So, I need a little help getting kick started. In a folder called Test I have three PloneExternalFiles much like the Zope version of ExtFile. I am writing a python script to delete those files that are over 5 days old. I am trying to start small so for right now I don't want to worry about a scheduler, I just want to get started writing the script. I have some pseudocode that I have written and I am slowly tranferring it to the python script. So for example I want to pass the ploneexternalfile id's to the python script. So would I just put ## parameters=id ? Additionally, how would I compare the system date to the modification date of the file? I know in the PloneExternalFile.py they use getFileModDate method would I use this or do I need something else while id: mod_date = ? sys_date = ? cmp(mod_date, sys_date) if mod_date > 5 ?.manage_delObjects(id) Any ideas would help me. I have been stuck on this too long. Thanks.

a question

Dear Sir, I have installed the "Zope-2.7.0.rpm" on my Linux computer(RedHat). I want to connect with MySQL system and I have the database adapter. For this I have selected the next "zope-ZMySQLDA-2.0.8-1ogger00.noarch.rpm" package. I have installed this package without any problem but I can't use the "ZMySQL" method. One of the reseans is that the path of "Zope-2.7.0.rpm" package is: "/usr/lib/zope2.7/lib/python/Products" whereas the path of ZMySQL package is: "/usr/lib/zope/lib/python/Products" . Thus the differences is between "zope" and "zope2.7" in this case. Would you like to help me to solve this problem or any other advise? Best regards Nader -------------------------------------------------------------- Zie ook/see also: http://www.knmi.nl/maildisclaimer.html

Rewrite problem
by Sam Bright 14 May '04

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. I'm trying to setup zope to work with apache. I want apache to answer everything except when an url goes to /blog, then I want zope to take over for that directory. I have my rewrite rule setup as: NameVirtualHost * <VirtualHost *> ServerName myservername Rewrite Engine On RewriteLog "/var/log/apache/rewrite.log RewriteLogLevel 1 RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/myservername:80/blog/VirtualHost… [L,P] </VirtualHost> Whenever I try to access my server I get: Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. I've tried many combinations from the tutorials and I either get this or nothing gets passed to zope. I turned mod_proxy on with: <IfModule mod_proxy.c> ProxyRequests On <Directory proxy:"> Order deny, allow Allow from myservername Deny from all </Directory> </IfModule> Any ideas?

RE: Leaking HTTP requests

Brian, Yup, I think I've noticed that as well ... No more wrapper leaking, but DateTime still seems high, and the request related classes still grow. I don't use Plone however, just standard CMF. Right now I'm trying out recipe 14.10 from the Python Cookbook: Tracking Instances of Particular Classes. Hopefully with the ability to "attach" to instances left around through the monitor I can inspect them and find out what's so special about them :) No eureka moment from me yet! :P J.F. -----Original Message----- From: Brian Lloyd [mailto:brian@zope.com] Sent: May 14, 2004 2:56 PM To: Jean-Francois.Doyon(a)CCRS.NRCan.gc.ca; chrism(a)plope.com Cc: stefan(a)epy.co.at; zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: Leaking HTTP requests Interesting - I applied LeakBGone to zope.org, and while it did not fix the problem, it did seem to change it in an interesting way. Before, there were far more ImplicitAcquirerWrappers than anything else. Now, I'm consistently seeing ~100,000 DateTimes and ~36,000 PloneFolders after running for about 90 min., and the wrappers stay stable at around 250. Not a clue what it means yet, but I thought I'd share another data point in case it makes someone say "eureka"... Brian Lloyd brian(a)zope.com V.P. Bug in Ordered Folder of Zope 2.7
by Andreas Tille 14 May '04

14 May '04

Hello, I'm happy that the ordered Folder feature is implemented now in Zope 2.7 because I wanted to use it as kind of a "Mind-Mapper" for developing a menu structure. I found out that the Folder objects are ordered nicely in the right management window of the ZMI but if you look at the tree on the left side all folders are ordered alphabetically. I wuld consider it as a bug that the order which I created with ordered Folders on the right is not regarded on the left. Please convince me that this is a feature. ;-) Kind regards Andreas.

RE: Leaking HTTP requests (was: RE: [Zope] LeakingAcquisition.Imp licitAcquirerWrapper)

G'Day, Preliminary information seems to suggest the patch isn't helping either. So right now I've both removed the standard_error_message AND applied the LeakBGone monkey patch. I'll leave my production site in this state through the week-end and see what the numbers look like on monday. In the mean time, I'll try to dig deeper ... Thanks, J.F. -----Original Message----- From: Chris McDonough [mailto:chrism@plope.com] Sent: May 13, 2004 5:50 PM To: Brian Lloyd Cc: Stefan H. Holek; Jean-Francois.Doyon(a)CCRS.NRCan.gc.ca; zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: Leaking HTTP requests (was: RE: [Zope] LeakingAcquisition.ImplicitAcquirerWrapper) Tres and me were playing around with this a little and the easiest way to provoke a REQUEST leak is to do an anonymous request to a resource inside a subfolder where the subfolder has all permission acquisition turned off (and only "authenticated" granted view access). It will turn around and try to run "standard_error_message", which will fail due to security (and leak in the process). The code responsible for this is SimpleItem.raise_standardErrorMessage, which does some funky passing around/munging of traceback objects. However, "raise_standardErrorMessage" never gets called if "standard_error_message" doesn't exist in the acquisition path. If it never gets called, the leak does not occur. The simplest way to rid yourself of the leak temporarily is to remove "standard_error_message".
