Is there any way to align text of multiple lines in a Z PDF document? The indent property does not work because it only indents the first line of text. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

NT authentication
by Erik Myllymaki 14 May '04

14 May '04

I am trying to use NT Domain authentication with a Zope 2.7 install on win2k. My old situation was Zope 2.3.2 installed on a Windows NT 4.0 BDC, with LoginManager and my own login methods to authenticate to the host machine. The performance was fine. On the install I am hoping to migrate to, exUserFolder and the smbAuthSource works but it is _really_ slow. I am now authenticating to a remote BDC as opposed to the same machine, but by remote I mean on the same 10/100/1000 LAN, so that really shouldn't be a performance bottleneck. Looking at the code, there is no caching that I am aware of and so it uses some of the calls to the PDC once for every object. Pages below the exUserFolder take 4-5 seconds to load, where those not going through it load in <1 second (same page used for testing). I am thinking of maybe using one of the other user folders out there that use caching (MySQLUserFOlder, LDAPUserFolder) as a template to make my own, but if someone has a better idea... thanks.

How did I know that this construction would work? It's one of the nice things about Python syntax (you can do nearly the same thing in javascript, too). Cheers, Tom P

question regarding starting zope 2.7.0 as a non root user
by glams＠itcilo.org 14 May '04

14 May '04

Hi All I've installed zope 2.7.0 (on SuSe 9.0) and succeeded in configuring rewrite rules and virtual host with apache 2 For the time being I'm starting it as root and setuid it as zope (using etc/zope.conf) I would like to start it directly as zope (I don't need to bind to port/1024) but it's not clear to me how to do it. With the previous version there was the -u switch that allowed you to specify which user to use. I search for some similar option, read the startup script and search the web but I'm not able to find it. Any pointer to some documentation would appreciated Thanks Gael

Refresh problem
by hawelek_tlen 14 May '04

14 May '04

Hi, I think my problem don't depend direct on Zope, but I think, I can here find solution, I have problem with refreshing page (DTML Method), I have page where content come from database, and after change some dates in database content on the page is the same, I have to use refresh-button from browser, and after that I see the changes, under ZMI everything works fine, so it is depending on browser, I know I can use for example: <meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache"></meta> and after that it should works, but it don't, so I ask for a help, regards Adam

RE: Leaking HTTP requests (was: RE: [Zope] LeakingAcquisition.Imp licitAcquirerWrapper)

Chris, Thanks for the insight. I'm quite sure I don't have any folders with such security settings however. I was looking for a security audit script of some kind but the only I found didn't seem to work :( But if I understand correctly, the leak would come from the raising of an error by SimpleItem.raise_standardErrorMessage, which could be anything really, not just security related? If so, I should maybe be able to detect a pattern between things appearing in the error_log and the incrementing of refcounts for HTTP request related classes. This idea sounds like it may have potential for me now that you mention it actually, I'm going to go look at that right now! I'll see what happens to my site when I remove standard_error_message as well, to see if that's a viable option ... Thanks again for all the insights! Holek; Jean-Francois.Doyon(a)CCRS.NRCan.gc.ca; zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: Leaking HTTP requests (was: RE: [Zope] LeakingAcquisition.ImplicitAcquirerWrapper) Tres and me were playing around with this a little and the easiest way to provoke a REQUEST leak is to do an anonymous request to a resource inside a subfolder where the subfolder has all permission acquisition turned off (and only "authenticated" granted view access). It will turn around and try to run "standard_error_message", which will fail due to security (and leak in the process). The code responsible for this is SimpleItem.raise_standardErrorMessage, which does some funky passing around/munging of traceback objects. However, "raise_standardErrorMessage" never gets called if "standard_error_message" doesn't exist in the acquisition path. If it never gets called, the leak does not occur. The simplest way to rid yourself of the leak temporarily is to remove "standard_error_message". Brian, Thanks for this, I'll give a try today ... J.F. -----Original Message----- From: Brian Lloyd [mailto:brian@zope.com] Sent: May 13, 2004 5:41 PM To: Stefan H. Holek Cc: Jean-Francois.Doyon(a)CCRS.NRCan.gc.ca; zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: Leaking HTTP requests (was: RE: [Zope] LeakingAcquisition.ImplicitAcquirerWrapper) Zope.org doesn't use Localizer (or Archetypes - another thing that has come up in this thread). In our experience, this sort of thing has almost always turned out to be a wrapped object ending up in the REQUEST or a wrapped object holding onto a request for some reason. I've attached a quick product you can drop in to test that theory on your own instance (just make a directory Products/LeakBGone and drop this __init__.py into it and restart). If it fixes the leak, we can extend it to do some logging and try to figure out the root cause. I'll try it out on zope.org as soon as I'm able. Brian Lloyd brian(a)zope.com V.P. Page (object) transfer in/from FreeZope.org
by fowlertrainer＠anonym.hu 14 May '04

Hi ! My problem is that: I want to use same site structure/code in freezope.org, and in my hungarian zope site. Because I cannot export/import in freezope.org, I don't do that. Only way to copy all of the object to create objects with same name/type in another server, and ftp copy them all. If I use only the FTP without object creation in another server, the server is copy only "file typed" object set, and the original types of objects are missed. I try it, so it is not working with ftp, because the Zope is set the object type with only creation. Example: my "controller" python script is copied by ftp, it is created in another site as controller FILE not PYTHON SCRIPT. Have the freezope.org with a site copy tool to I easily synchronize my sites ? Or have anybody an idea to do that ? Thanx for every help. Rewrite problem
by Sam Bright 14 May '04

14 May '04

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. I'm trying to setup zope to work with apache. I want apache to answer everything except when an url goes to /blog, then I want zope to take over for that directory. I have my rewrite rule setup as: NameVirtualHost * <VirtualHost *> ServerName myservername Rewrite Engine On RewriteLog "/var/log/apache/rewrite.log RewriteLogLevel 1 RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/myservername:80/blog/VirtualHost… [L,P] </VirtualHost> Whenever I try to access my server I get: Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. I've tried many combinations from the tutorials and I either get this or nothing gets passed to zope. I turned mod_proxy on with: <IfModule mod_proxy.c> ProxyRequests On <Directory proxy:"> Order deny, allow Allow from myservername Deny from all </Directory> </IfModule> Any ideas?
