Unusual 2.7 runzope fail message!

Without apparent incident I have built Zope2.7 from the tarball, using Python 2.3.3 (threaded) on this fairly current NetBSD system. I create an instance under /usr/local and in etc/zope.conf set an 'effective user', one that I've used for months now with my Zope2.6 installation on this machine. And, I don't see the errant behaviour on an OpenBSD 3.5 system in my possession, using a similarly hand-rolled-from-tarball Zope2.7. querying on a ZCTextIndex (need an example)

Folks, I notice that the documentation asks that ZCTextIndex be used in place of TextIndex. Does anyone have any examples of python code for querying a ZCTextIndex field in a ZCatalog, and presenting the results and their weights? Thanks in advance for any insight. manipulating catalog brains directly?

hi, i'm trying to migrate a group of CMFCollectors from a Zope-2.6.2, Plone-1.0.5 site to a Zope-2.7, Plone-2.0 site. they're coming through mostly okay, but the Collector Catalog shows up on the destination site with 2 catalog entries for each issue, instead of just one. this wouldn't be so bad, except that NONE of the catalog entries are actually correct. one set of entries is mostly correct, except that they contain the wrong path to the collector issues (the location of the portal within the Zope site has changed). the other set of catalog entries has the correct paths, but are lacking all of the OTHER pertinent pieces of data, such as review_state, assigned_to, etc. what i'm trying to do is to copy the information from the old catalog entries to the ones with the correct path, so that i can run "catalog update" to purge the old entries. in an external method i've got some code like this: def fixCollectorCatalog(self): import string catalog = self.get_internal_catalog() oldbrain = catalog.search(query_request={'path':'/old/path', 'id':'42'})[0] newbrain = catalog.search(query_request={'path':'/new/path', 'id':'42'})[0] out = "%s: %s" % (newbrain.id, str(newbrain.assigned_to)) newbrain.assigned_to = ('testuser1', 'testuser2',) out += '\n\n%s: %s' % (newbrain.id, str(newbrain.assigned_to)) return out when i run this code, the output shows that the second access of 'newbrain.assigned_to' DOES actually contain the tuple that i hardcoded. this only lasts for the duration of the current request, though; the value returns to its original value on subsequent searches. how do i make my edits stick? or is there some other way to bring my catalog into sync with my collector's new location? many thanks for any help, -r

re: images in plone

I just downloaded and installed zope and plone 2 my question is regarding how i could go about having directories of images uploaded to the plone database, basically i want to have entire directories of images (and other files) available to the public and formatted nice and uniformly as plone allows me to do, but not to have to add one image or file at a time. if anyone can help me out please let me know... my email address is jabber(a)ihateblinktags.com Thanks in advance -Ryan

Large DTML Document

I have reached the maximum size of a DTML document(around 30-31 KB) that Zope will allow(perhaps this is browser specific?). Everything in my DTML document is being used to display data(the data processing occurs inside DTML methods that are called from this document). However, I have more code to add to the document for display purposes but cannot because I have reached the maximum size that Zope will allow. What are my options at this point? Does Zope allow the use of includes similar to Java Server Pages? If not, what can I do? Embedding this presentation logic inside DTML methods and then calling these methods from the DTML document using <dtml-var> is something I thought of but I am not certain this will work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

Hi all, I'm a newbie to plone just installed plone 2, well problems with documentation most of it first of all is talkin about plone 1, then secondly can anyone point me to a good startup doc/FAQ that can quickly kick start me on portal type, portal skines slots and the likes can just connect them i'm a bit stuck, also maybe this can also be specific to plone 2. ZEO on Win2k

Hello, I want to setup Zope-2.7 with ZEO on a Win2k machine. I have everything running. Now I want that the ZEO Server and the Client server start automatically on Windows startup as service. BTW: The services are on the same computer. Is there any way how I can accomplish this? With kind regards Florian Reiser
