Emailing user password
by Brian Sullivan 23 Apr '04

I am trying to set up code to email a forgotten password to a user. I have a handle on the email process -- what I seem to be having a problem with is given the userID determining user's password in a Python script. Anybody have sample code or url describing a method to do this.

Are u using CMF? If so there are already scripts to do this. I was trying to look it up for you but my dev server is down. Its probably in the Generic or Control folders and i think they are called email_password_form (DTML Method) and email_password (Script (Python)) > > On Fri, 23 Apr 2004 10:27:37 -0400, Brian Sullivan > > <brians(a)meetingbywire.com> wrote: > > > > I am trying to set up code to email a forgotten password to a user. > > > > I have a handle on the email process -- what I seem to be having a problem > > with is given the userID determining user's password in a Python script. > > Anybody have sample code or url describing a method to do this. > > > > _______________________________________________ > > Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org > > http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope > > ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** > > (Related lists - > > http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce > > http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ) > > >

Re: [Zope] Any Ad Hoc Query Tools
by Ed Crewe 23 Apr '04

Hi Aaron, I have a written a product to do what you describe - unfortunately it isn't quite finished yet and is currently just designed to work with Postgres and Oracle. Called sqlizer - when added as a it gives you a an object that has a data dictionary interface with more details than the standard DCConnection browse and the ability to edit column comments. However the main features are that it has methods for edit tables that don't require sql specification. ie. sqlizer.table(self, table,REQUEST,action, args*) where table is the table to be acted upon and action= update or insert. args* is optional listing of fields if you don't want all form fields that are in the table updated (and obviously REQUEST could be subsitituted by any dictionary of data against fieldname keys). There is also a multiedit function which includes a foreign_key_name argument for bulk updates of related data. The inputs are all validated against what is allowable according to the data description of the tables fields. For simple db work it doesn't give you many advantages but when you are dealing with tables that often have more than thirty fields, and db schemas that are liable to changes (as they all are!) it is invaluable. Extra features that I will probably include (since I already have them as external methods) are date time drop down generator / input handler functions, basic ZPT web form generation from a tablename. I am afraid I cannot say when I may get this done but since I have one Postgres and one Oracle project that could do with this being implemented as a product, and both projects with deadlines of early summer. I would hope that I can at least move sqlizer to external CVS by then. Re: [Zope] dtml parent folder

Thanks once again, but again I got no joy. Using <dtml-with ac_parent>, I got a Key Error, with value "ac_parent". Using <dtml-with ac_parent()>, I got a Key Error, with value "ac_parent()". Using <dtml-with "ac_parent">, I got a Name Error, with value "global name 'ac_parent' is not defined". Using <dtml-with "ac_parent()">, I got a Name Error, with value "global name 'ac_parent' is not defined". It may be worth mentioning that this is done within Plone, but its done in a dtml-method, so that shouldn't affect it, should it .. ? Anyway, sorry for forgetting to mention it. Thanks very much for your reply. Unfortunately, with both of these, I get a Key Error, with error value "root". >Try: > ><dtml-with root> > <dtml-with pdf> > <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('varName',scriptName(args))"> > </dtml-with> ></dtml-with> > >or > ><dtml-with "restrictedTraverse('root/pdf')"> > <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('varName',scriptName(args))"> ></dtml-with> > > >HTH > >Jonathan > _________________________________________________________________ Sign-up for a FREE BT Broadband connection today! http://www.msn.co.uk/specials/btbroadband

dtml parent folder
by Ashley Lloyd 23 Apr '04

I feel incredibly stupid asking this, but I just cannot seem to find the answer, so I apologise in advance for my ignorance! I have a folder structure, say, like this root - pdf - web - pdf I am in a dtml-method in the web folder, and want to access a python script in the root/pdf folder. I tried initially: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('varName',pdf.scriptName(args))"> I get an Attribute Error with value scriptName. (scriptName does not exist in the web/pdf folder) I have tried various ways of calling the script in the pdf folder that is straight from root, but I can't seem to access it. I know there must be a really simple answer to this (other than cheating and copying the method), but I just can't seem to find it. Request & has_key
by Philip Kilner 23 Apr '04

23 Apr '04

Hi List, I'm having problems with testing for the existence of a key in my request. I've had similar problems in the past, and asked the list in the past, but always managed to fumble my way out of them - now I seem to be 100% stuck! I'm working on a page template which calls a python script. This script needs to: - - Test for the existence of a counter called "job_step". - If it does not exist, initialise it as one (it's an integer). - If it does exist, perform conditional tasks based on it's value. My script reads, in part: - req = context.REQUEST if req.has_key('job_step'): if req.job_step == 1: do that... else: do the other... else: container.REQUEST.set('job_step', 1) do this... ...and that's where my problem lies - the test /always/ fails! If I throw the whole request into the page template, I can see that the key "job_step" is listed, with a value of one. Subsequently, a second script called by the same template increments it to two, which I can also see, if I comment out the line which sets it to one - but when the whole page is thrown for "step 2", the test fails and the value is reset to one. So: - - Can anyone help me understand what I'm doing wrong? - I've been advised in the past that "REQUEST", although it "acts" like a dictionary is not actually a dictionary. Is this so? - Is there a way of testing that "req" is a dictionary? - If it isn't, shouldn't "has_key" barf? This feels like a basic, stupid, question, but I'm stuck and - apart from reminding me that I've been here before, Google is apparently /not/ my friend today... TIA Cheers, PhilK
