Hi all, I am trying to install plone. I installed an older version of Zope which I got to run. When I try starting Zope 2.6.2 now I get the following errors: ---------------------------------snip------------------------------- 2004-04-21T03:12:02 ERROR(200) Zope Could not import Products.CMFPlone Traceback (innermost last): File /home/aamehl/Zope-2.6.2-linux2-x86/lib/python/OFS/Application.py, line 522, in import_product File /home/aamehl/Zope-2.6.2-linux2-x86/lib/python/Products/CMFPlone/__init__.py, line 7, in ? self.move()
by Shane Hathaway 23 Apr '04

23 Apr '04

Just to let the community know, my family is about to move to a new home near my extended family. As part of this move, I will no longer be a full-time employee of Zope Corporation, but I will continue to use Zope and will do some part-time work for ZC. In particular, I plan to fix some problems on zope.org. I am going to work on advancing the state of the art in genealogy software at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm excited about the new position, but I'm sad to leave ZC. I have truly enjoyed working at Zope Corporation. The top-notch engineers and managers have stretched my understanding through innovative solutions to tough problems. Zope Corporation has a bright future. Shane

Separation of the Management Interface from Application
by Jas Amidzic 22 Apr '04

22 Apr '04

Hi, Separation of Zope Management Interface (MI) from other applications supported by the server is something that I would like to implement if possible. All applications currently supported by the server are accessible through HTTP (on port 80) and running MI over HTTPS only (port 443) would allow me to control access to the Zope Management Interface. I have an Apache server sitting in front of the Zope providing necessary SSL support and two SiteRoots on the Zope server; one in the RootFolder and other one in a custom created application folder located just bellow the RootFolder. RootFolder's SiteRoot contains base parameter that looks like this "https://www.fightclub.org/" and the application's SiteRoot created in the application folder has the base parameter set to "http://www.fightclub.org/Application/". This creates two virtual server one that is accessible over HTTPS and other over HTTP, which is exactly what I was hopping to achieve. However there is a small problem. The problem is that Application has to be managed over HTTP as all 'manage_worksplace' URLs are also rewritten by the Applications SiteRoot to HTTP. Is it possible to leave the Application SiteRoot as it is and introduce another URL mapping which would only translate application's 'manage_worksplace' URLs to HTTPs? I've tried using Rewriter but without success. Are there any other techniques that would allow separation of MI from the applications? Thanks ----------------------------------------------- ABS Web Site: www.abs.gov.au

Hi ya, has anyone yet seen/done Zope adapter for cx_Oracle python module? If there is none ready, what is the best place to begin to implement it. Since DCOracle and cxOracle implement same Python DB api should / could DCOracle's implementation be used as a base or is some other adaptor a better one to begin with? -huima

The easiest thing to do may just be to export the entire database from the production system and import it into your new one. Cheers, Tom p

On Thu, 22 Apr 2004 15:57:27 -0400 GMT Igor Gritsayuk asked the Zope-DB mailinglist about the following: Moved to the Zope-mailinglist .. :) > I have stupid question - but your advise needed very much. > We have Linux box running Zope 2.6beta with production web site. > I wanted to create a local version of the web site to be able to play with > it. > I installed another Linux box and compiled same version of Zope on it. > Then created new instance - with another superuser name and password - (It > was installed before I came - and the original password is lost - but > inituser file is available) > Tested it with default Data.fs. - I could get into management console and > see all the products etc. > Then I copied over Data.fs from production box and stuck with access: > You are not authorized to access this resource. The user-data is stored in the Data.fs as well, so you have to use the passords and usernames from the original site. That should work.. You *did* restart your Zope after replacing the Data.fs ? :) -- __________________________________________________________________ Geir Bækholt · Interaction Architect · Plone Solutions Development · Training · Support · http://www.plonesolutions.com __________________________________________________________________

Anyone know of a framework or tool for dealing with ad hoc queries against a star-schema database for zope? After scratching around the zope and plone sites, I wasn't able to find anything; any leads would be great. -Aaron
