Security for objects being called

Hello all, I'm trying to figure out how to prevent certain zope objects from being called directly but allow them to be called from another object. Here is an example: You have a ZPT page, let's originally call it 'test' test calls a Script(Python) 'script' I want any anonymous user to be able to call 'test' from the web but not 'script'. However, I want 'test' to call 'script' and render the contents of 'script' to anonymous users through 'test'. I tested this out by making the 'script' View permission only available for Authenticated users, and as anonymous I can neither hit 'test' nor 'script'. Based on my understanding of the Zope security framework I don't think this is possible... hopefully someone can tell me I'm wrong though and show me how to do it :) Thanks very much for your time, - Thibaud

i18n from a python script or external method

Hi I have installed and set up the PlacelessTranslationService product and it works correctly from Zope Page Templates. However, I have failed to get it to work from a python script or external python method. I have found several different methods via google however none of them work (ie none will translate a msg). Can someone please give me a valid method to do this for Zope 2.10 .3 or later. Thanks Adam

Displaying PIL Images in Zope Templates

Hi there Is it possible to show several PIL.Image.Image instances in a Zope Page without creating a temporary Zope image object? I have an external method that creates a list of PIL.Image.Image instances, e.g. [<PIL.Image.Image instance at 0x711fc60>, <PIL.Image.Image instance at 0x711fc70> ] How can I display all images in a Zope page template? I tried <tal:rep tal:repeat="item"> <span tal:replace="item" /> </tal:rep> The <span> renders "<PIL.Image.Image instance at 0x23b97500>". How can I show the image? Thanks in advance Nico

Dear all, I create logout page in my site when user want to logout it will submit the page of page submit i called "manage_zmi_logout" function . which promt me for again login user name password window i want redirect user to login page but if redirect whiout calling "manage_zmi_logout" function user not actualy logout from zope is any other way to kill user session please tell me. Hi Is there any in-depth documentation anywhere on the Zope search facility the ZCatalog, how to build indexes and access these. I find that the Zope Book online is ok but not quite enough to really get to grips with it. Thanks michael

effectiveRange GET URL search syntax...

Hi I want to search inside a range set by two dates and have an effectiveRange index set up to do this. The since field is effective and the until field is expires. The fields are both set as searchable. What is the syntax to send through in the URL search query after &effectiveRange= ? I don't see that many examples of this being used Thanks michael

Hi guys, Hope this is the right list, if not please correct me. Currently I'm running a Zope cluster which consists of 3 servers, one with squid and the other 2, which have quad core processors and 4GB RAM,have 4 zeo instances running over DRBD and each Zope instance has 4 clients (2 on each box). The problem started when I ran Squid on the same box as the Zeo's (the Zeo's live on one box, but migrate when one of the servers fail) and for some reason Squid ended up sending requests on the box it was running on and the other box remained idle. My first move was to set weights to try and get Squid to see the servers as equal, but that didn't help either. Next I noticed the site would hang as Squid was sending requests to a client that was either unreachable due to high load and wasn't handling HTTP requests, but it seemed like ICP was still answering which didn't help the situation. I removed ICP and the problem still persisted, weights set to 1 on the box running Squid and the Zeo's and 100 on the other box. The next move was to put Squid on its own box, but I'm still experiencing problems where Squid sends requests to only one box and eventually one of the clients becomes unresponsive, but ICP still answers. My next step was to put Pound behind squid and let Squid forward all requests to Pound which in turn did the load balancing, but this morning I noticed 500 errors coming from Pound. 2 of the instances, one on each box, kept timing out. I restarted all 4 clients in question, reloaded Squid and restarted Pound, but Pound kept timing out when sending requests to 2 of the instances. The strange thing is that Pound was still able to forward requests to 4 of the other clients serving another instance, but this one was under less load. Any advice? Thanks, Gareth

Best place to rewrite webdav GET requests?

Hi In our homegrown cms system the lmages lives in /img/ and css directly on / while templates gets split into a main template, and a "content type" template that lives in /some/elaborate/structure/ Now when you open the template in /some/elaborate/structure/ with dreamweaver by webdav, of course it can not find the images and css it expects. I have toyed with various ideas to work around this, and allow our "non-emacs developers" to edit templates in a more convenient way. This is after all one of the promises of TAL templates. The idea here is simply to recognize the wysiwyg clients, and rewrite the requests to make the template prerequisites appear where expected. Now I notice that in WebDAVSrcHandler.py there is already a rewriting of GET requests based on user agent going on. Before I dive in I wan to ask the opinion of more experienced zopeistas here, is this the "correct" place to do it? Or would it perhaps be better to route webdav through apache, and try to handle it with rewriterules? Regards Gaute Amundsen

HAI list, I am developing a zope product composed of a bunch of python classes, some which are instanciated in the ZODB, like plone's tools, and some that are just helper classes, they do not need to be instanciated in the ZODB. UserManager is a class that is in the ZODB. UserManager retrieves users from MySQL, and create User objects. User is a classic python class (that is not instanciated in the ZODB). For every user, i wish to display its profile on the site using a Page Template. hii, i am using zope-2.8.1,i just want to know that in which module zope sessions have been created and when i try to login into zope which module is called first... if u have any idea please help me ...... thank you.. milind
