Left without any clue and completely stumped, I would appreciate any comments to set me off in the right direction. I'm setting up a departemental server running Windows 2000 Server, configured with IIS 5.0 for serving an intranetsite with WebDAV enabled by default. The server is a domain member of subdomain CLASS, and also functions as a backup Domain Controller for this Active Directory domain. Connected to this subdomain are a couple of clients, most of them: - configured with Win2K Pro/SP2 or- SP4, and IE 5.5 SP2, - some with WinXP Pro/SP1 and IE 6 SP1, All desktops have Office 2000 installed, updated with SR-1a & SP-3. Users logon to the CLASS domain, so that their permissions can be set domain-wide. After testing, I plan to change IIS authentication to IWA (Integrated Windows Authentication) and configure IE 5.5 accordingly for transparant authentication. ALL clients support adding WebFolders in My Network Places on the desktop. Doubleclicking the WebFolder opens up a window, showing Office documents. Doubleclicking documents fires up Excel, Word, etc. and opens up the document Read-Write for update, as long as not already reviewed by someone else. This indicates that basic WebDAV functionality is in place. The intranetsite uses Anonymous Authentication against the IUSR_computername account. The WebDAV folder serving the Office documents on the IIS 5.0 server, is actually a virtual folder with Basic Authentication enabled for testing purposes. Because this folder has Read/Write/DirectoryBrowsing enabled, users can also browse with IE to the documentfolder and fireup the Office application by doubleclicking a document of their choice. And here the magic happens: ALL clients fireup Excel, Word, etc. with the clicked document opened READ-ONLY. But heh, all but ONE: one client opens up the document Read-Write, and there- fore allows saving it directly on the server. As I dont have ANY clue to why documents are opened Read-Write on that particular machine, I checked versions of any installed software. Operating System, Internet Explorer, MS Office, DLLs, etc. Without a clue. pdf on-the-fly (again)

Hi, I'm using html2pdf external ( http://zope.org/Members/mjablonski/howtoPDF) script to generate on-the-fly pdf. I usually add the URL /html2pdf to the document I want to be converted into pdf. The problem comes when I pass a parameter to the URL I want to convert (i.e. detail?param=myvalue), the corrisponding pdf URL is detail?param=myvalue/html2pdf , but it does not work since "param=myvalue/html2pdf" is evaluated as QUERY_STRING and then the html2pdf script is never called. how can I force the html2pdf script to work? thks in advance Alex

It seems there are some missing headers in zopectl that chkconfig needs to register as a service: I added them, but zope 2.7 will still not start on boot. Here's what I have done so far: As root First edited zopectl directly and added the lines: # chkconfig: - 80 20 # description: Zope 2.7 ( I have no idea what - 80 20 means.) Calling command line code from DTML or Python script?

Hi all Just trying to find how do you call a Command line function (something like a shell script in Unix or a cmd file on Windows env) through zope. How can you call a shell script / cmd script using DTML ? Any ideas? A python script would do but calling thru DTML is the preferred objective right now! Darshan

Win2k Pro SP4, Zope 2.7.0, WebDAV, web folders, and local tools

zope(a)zope.org: I am evaluating Zope for building collaborative web sites. My background is HTML, CGI, and Linux-Apache-MySQL-Perl (LAMP), mostly using ssh/vi. I have downloaded and installed Zope-2.7.0-win32.exe on Win2k Pro SP4, gone through the Zope tutorial, and am now trying to figure out how to edit Zope source documents using WebDAV via Windows web folders. I have successfully created a web folder for http://localhost:8080/ using Windows Explorer and can browse around my Zope instance. Mozilla 1.6 is configured as my default browser and HTML editor. If I double-click on a page template, the rendered page opens in the Mozilla HTML editor. I can make changes. I can also carry out a save operation, and it appears to work. However, when I look at the same object using ZMI, my edits are not there. If I close Mozilla and double-click on the template again, Windows Explorer complains that the file does not exist. If I open a template by Send To -> Microsoft Word, it also opens the rendered page. Word adds a whole bunch of XML stuff at the top. Saves do get posted to the Zope instance, but because Word opened the rendered page this only serves to destroy functionality. If I attempt to open a Python script by Send To -> Notepad, nothing happens. This also seems to break Mozilla's ability to open a template until I open a template using Word. I would like to be able to create/edit/move/delete Zope objects using local text editors, WYSIWYG editors, and/or command-line utilities. WebDAV sounds like a nice idea, but I can't get it to work. I tried creating a web folders for http://localhost:8021/ and http://localhost:9800/, but this just hangs Windows Explorer. WS_FTP works fine connecting to localhost port 8021. In my RTFM and STFW efforts, I did see statements about WebDAV being broken on Windows. I was just wondering if this has been fixed and/or somebody knows of a work-around. Any comments or suggestions? TIA, David

Hi, I have several external methods. These are files in the map Extensions. How can I edit these files with zope's FTP? I also want to edit the files in the Product map. How can I do this with FTP? I can go to the server and edit the files, but I want to do it with Zope's FTP or any other method.
