problem with read only zope. Does not load some products (Archetypes)
by robert rottermann 15 Mar '04

Hi there, I am creating a CD with the copy of a site. The idea is, that the CD could be used in places where there is no internet access. No my problem is, that on of the products (Archetypes) is not initialized correctly at startup. And therefor all dependent products are not initialized neither. After Zope has been loaded, I can go to the control panel and load archetypes and the dependent products manually. Unfortunately this is not something I can ask the users "in the field" to do. Has anybody an Idea what I could do, to have Archetypes loaded the "official" way. thanks Robert

Keeping data throughout a session
by Michael.Rinner＠cellzome.com 15 Mar '04

15 Mar '04

Hi, I've got the following problem: I want to keep several choices users make during a site visit persistent in memory during their session. Not all of those fields appear on each page or are needed, but the values should still be available all the time so they can be used for various selections. Now I could simply use hidden input fields and carry the values over and over from one page to another, but that seems quite an awkward way to do this. So I store them as Session data, which works fine so far except for if a user opens several browser windows, which however happens quite often. In that case, changes done in one window affect the selection in another window, as there is only one shared session object obviously. Does anyone have an idea what the best way would be to handle this? I'd like to automatically keep values valid that are selected at random times for seperate windows and their subwindows, without affecting values stored for other windows. And all of that hopefully without major changes to various places in the DTML and script files... Thanks in advance, Michael Rinner

What I'd suggest is getting WebDrive (http://www.webdrive.com/products/webdrive/index.html) on their client machines and connecting to Zope via WebDAV. Much smoother all round... cheers, Chris -- Simplistix - Content Management, Zope & Python Consulting - http://www.simplistix.co.uk

TAL and quotes
by Andrew Veitch 15 Mar '04

15 Mar '04

Anyone got an idea for who to work round quotes not being escaped in TAL? I've got a line: <input tal:attributes="value here/mystring" /> mystring may contain a quote that needs to be escaped to " It's not automatically escaped by the TAL engine, unfortunately if I write code to escape it myself then I end up with &quot; because although TAL fails to escape " it does escape &! Also, I can't turn escaping off completely with structure as that doesn't work with attributes. I put this in the Collector but I really need something sooner. Thanks for any ideas. Andrew

manage_afterAdd

In the following example I expected 'dbConnection' to be instantiated as a child of 'foo', but it instead is instantiated as a sibling to 'foo'. Could someone please explain what mistake I'm making or how this process works? class myClass(mxmObjectManager.mxmObjectManager): 'This is the doc string' meta_type='My New Class' def __init__(self, id='foo'): mxmObjectManager.mxmObjectManager.__init__(self, id) def manage_afterAdd(self, containter=None, content=None): self.manage_addZMySQLConnection( id='dbConnection', title = 'dbConnection', connection_string = configFile.DbConnString) Poor Yorick zope.org(a)pooryorick.com

product & external method synchronizer
by Sakesun Roykiattisak 15 Mar '04

15 Mar '04

Hi, I'm planning to deploy Zope within my company intranet. We have 6 intranet sites. I've found ZSyncer to be very useful to synchronize ZODB objects to the development site's. However, I still need some tools to synchronize our customized zope-products and external methods. Any suggestion will be appreciate.

rendering graphics from an external product
by Henny van der Linde 15 Mar '04

15 Mar '04

Hi, I have this class (with subclasses) in an external product: class Elem_base_item(ObjectManager,Implicit,Persistent,SimpleItem.SimpleItem): "Eba item" meta_type="eba_item" def __init__(self,id,kop,tekst,volgorde,auteur,status,slot,type, kopstijl,tekststijl,auto_br,datum): self.id=id self.kop=kop etc.... The whole thing works great but I need to possibility to add images to the Elem_base_item class. I came up with this: def addImg(self,f_file,REQUEST=None): "voegt een afbeelding toe" self.manage_addImage('afbeelding',title='afbeelding',file=f_file) self._p_changed = 1 This works in one respect: that it adds an object to Elem_base_item class. But it won't render it as an image. I get an broken image in the browser while using this dtml: <dtml-if afbeelding> <dtml-var afbeelding> </dtml-if> Clearly I'm missing something. Can someone enlighten me? Henny I came up with this:

LocalFS 1.2-andreas released
by Andreas Heckel 14 Mar '04

14 Mar '04

I read about a LocalFS patch by SmileyChris on Zope.org. Unfortunately I got a AttributeError when I tried to contact the author of this patch. I had to do some patches too to get it working with Zope2.7.0 and with my product PloneLocalFS. Nearly all changes from SmileyChris are applyed to my version. Please grep by "Andreas" and "SmileyChris" in my sources to see what was done. You can get it from www.easyleading.org Andreas Heckel
