[ANN] mxmDynamicPage 2.1.0 upgrade released
by Max M 17 Mar '04

17 Mar '04

*What's new in this version* - Due to changes in how Catalog queries are performed in Zope 2.7.0, no lists would show up in mxmDynamicPage 2.0.0. That is fixed now. - An option has been added, so that Dynamic lists can consist of content that is collected either from the entire site or a folder with subfolders.. - Minor usability & bug fixes *What is it?* The mxm Dynamic Page product for Plone makes it easy for end-users to make dynamic pages that aggregates lists of content from a part of a Plone site, or from the entire site. In short, it makes it easy to add dynamic lists to a document. It is especially usefull as an "index_html" in a member folder, where the member then has the option to make dynamic lists of his content. But it can also be used to make custom versions of the common "news" page, or pages similar to that. http://www.mxm.dk/products/public/mxmDynamicPage/ -- hilsen/regards Max M, Denmark http://www.mxm.dk/ IT's Mad Science

I want to create class which will allow adds objects of any class through my own interface. For example: user click on button "Add Min_all" on dtml form, and manage_addMin_allForm is shown. User input data in manage_addMin_allForm and click "Add" button on manage_addMin_allForm. After that object of Min_all with necessary values of attributes will be added to ZODB.

TextIndexNG 2.06 released
by Andreas Jung 17 Mar '04

17 Mar '04

I am pleased to announce the release of TextIndexNG V 2.06. This version fixes a problem with disappearing documents that have been reindexed. It also makes the usage of external converters more safe (see release notes). There is also a new official hook for thrid-party products to expose indexable content for TextIndexNG2. Changes since 2.05 - removed MD5 cache introduced in V 2.03 because of misc reindexing problems - Converters: - TextIndexNG now checks at startup of Zope if the configured external converters are available (using the 'which' command). A converter will not be registered if this check fails - The converter API introduces a new convert2() method to provide a better control over mimetypes and encodings - Indexing: Objects can define a hook 'txng_get(attr_list)' to return a tuple '(source, mimetype, encoding)' for better control over the data to be indexed. 'attr_list' is the list of attribute names configure for this particular index Download it from http://www.zope.org/Members/ajung/TextIndexNG -aj Andreas Jung -------------------------------- www.zopyx.com Software-Entwicklung und Consulting Andreas Jung

I have trival class on Python: manage_addMin_allForm=DTMLFile('dtml\manage_addMin_allForm',globals()) class min_all(SimpleItem.SimpleItem): ... How I can show & exec manage_addMin_allForm on external Python script? I can use RESPONSE.redirect('manage_addProduct/Minimal/manage_addMin_allForm'). But I want to do some like this: self.manage_addMin_allForm(). Regard, Serg.

Syntax problem
by Jeff Nielsen 17 Mar '04

17 Mar '04

All, I'm having a silly syntax problem again, and I can't get it right. I'm try to update a value in a list DetailBodyHeader at Index DetailEditSection with the value in the variable BodyText. The following statement executes without error, but doesn't update the value: dtml-call "REQUEST.set('DetailBodyHeader[DetailEditSection]',BodyHeader)" Can someone point me in the right direction? Many thanks, Jeff

This tutorial is brilliant . as a python/zope/plone newbie it is brilliant . I was happily working away until .. Arrrrrrrrrrr I could scream. http://zope.org/Members/adytumsolutions/HowToLoveZODB_PartI/HowToLoveZOD B_PartIV At the bottom of this page is a link to page 5 . I click on it .. It asks me for registration details . I didn't have a registration so I created one and logged in then I clicked on page 5 and now I get an error message asking me to email webmaster(a)zope.org. Insufficient Privileges You do not have sufficient privileges to view this page. If you are getting this message when trying to edit your own zope.org content, remember that you must retract published items before you may edit them. To retract an item, click on the State link to view the publishing status form and select "retract" from the publishing options. classes in external methods
by nwingfield＠dixon-hughes.com 17 Mar '04

17 Mar '04

Since Zope's Python Scripts will not allow me to import the csv module, I wrote my own little class within an External Method. My class opens a CSV file and returns a dictionary representation of each line, one at a time. Now Zope pops up an authentication dialog when I try to call my External Method. Is there some way around this? Can someone also explain why Zope does this? I thought an External Methods was a failsafe way to write unrestricted Zope code without going all out and writing a product (which just doesn't make sense in this instance). Nathaniel

Using python script within Zopeto build basic document repository
by Chris Hughes 17 Mar '04

17 Mar '04

Hi! I am new to Zope and learning! I am trying to build a very basic online document repository, that members can upload documents to. Zope will need to add extra properties to each document such as who uploaded it, when, and what section of work it falls into. (Users should be able to add sections if it is a new section of work). The users then need to be able to order the documents by author, part of project, or date to find the documents that they are looking for. Firstly is there an example of a similar system available anywhere? Secondly - I am trying to code and learn! How can I create a context which is in a folder that is different to the script? The following code stores the file: folder=container['documents'] folder.manage_addFile('', file=file, title=title) Then I need some magic line which sets a context up as the file called 'file' in the folder documents newFile= context[file] And then I will be able to write the extra properties somehow: newFile.manage_addProperty('test', 'test', 'text') Thirdly - How can I write a page which displays all of the documents in the folder in order of different properties. Ie the user can list the files in order of date, or only show the files on project1! Thank you for your time! Chris Hughes

RE: [Zope] Newbie Q: Error creating LocalFS
by Samir Mishra 17 Mar '04

17 Mar '04

I'm getting something similar. Horrible errors with Python 2.3.3/Zope 2.7/latest LocalFS & LocalFS_Patched on a Linux system with 2.6 kernel, gcc 3.3.3, etc. I don't have this problem on As soon as I install a LocalFS object within a Zope folder, the folder becomes inaccessible. It generates some sort of gibberish error, and the error log indicates a "Not Found" error type. I can't access the folder through the management interface, but have to use the manage_UndoForm URL extension to get into the folder and undo the installation of the LocalFS object. Just tried this on my Win32 machine, with the same error - ============================ Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Resource not found Sorry, the requested resource does not exist. Check the URL and try again. Resource: sequence-odd Troubleshooting Suggestions * The URL may be incorrect. * The parameters passed to this resource may be incorrect. * A resource that this resource relies on may be encountering an error. For more detailed information about the error, please refer to error log. If the error persists please contact the site maintainer. Thank you for your patience. ============================ SOLUTION: perhaps - Did a search on this issue, saw http://www.my-zope.org/Members/kedai/News_Item.2003-12-30.2242 Tried LocalFS 1.1 and it seems to work on my Win32 machine. Don't have access to the Linux box so can't comment. Now the problem I'm having is that when I specify path as "." (ie, current directory) LocalFS doesn't map it to the $INSTANCE/var directory any longer. This is a bother, since all my previous path definition have been relative. Any way to fix this? Think I'll post it as a separate question on the list. Samir. -----Original Message----- From: Jock Coats [mailto:jock.coats@jcsolutions.co.uk] Sent: Tuesday, March 16, 2004 00:54 To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Newbie Q: Error creating LocalFS Hi, I'm new hereabouts, and though I have found a few references to similar problems in the archives and so on, still nothing is working for me. I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this, or point me in a different direction. I am really new to Zope, so forgive me if I'm doing something really obvious, or perhaps impossible. I want to use ZServer as a DAV server to my users' OS filestores (/home/user - FreeBSD 5.2). In the root of my Zope (2.7) I add a folder called dav, and I point my virtualhostmonster at it as 'dav.domain.com/dav/' (but I'm not getting this far so that shouldn't matter). Then in the dav folder I create a Local File System object (downloaded today from http://zope.org/Members/SmileyChris/LocalFS_Patched/0.3) called 'username' with a base of '/home/username/dav/' (a directory I just created and gave my Zserver process user ownership of). And when I click 'Add', it all goes horribly wrong and I get the error: "Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Resource not found Sorry, the requested resource does not exist. Check the URL and try again. Resource: __replaceable__ Troubleshooting Suggestions • The URL may be incorrect. • The parameters passed to this resource may be incorrect. • A resource that this resource relies on may be encountering an error. For more detailed information about the error, please refer to error log. If the error persists please contact the site maintainer. Thank you for your patience." And from then on whenever I try to access the dav folder from the root I get a similar error. (Note, I tried adding the self.isAnObjectManager=1 test as detailed in a post of Thu Jan 8 12:26:24 EST 2004 to this list, but unless I have missed some step in editing a .py file, it hasn't had any effect) Help!!! Create objects of MyClass
by Serg 17 Mar '04

17 Mar '04

I have trivial class: <file MyClass.py>: from OFS import SimpleItem from Globals import DTMLFile def manage_addMyClass(self, id, REQUEST): "add" a=MyClass(id) self._setObject(id,a) if REQUEST: return self.manage_main(self, REQUEST) manage_addMyClassForm=DTMLFile('dtml\manage_addMyClassForm',globals()) class MyClass(SimpleItem.SimpleItem): "minimal object" meta_type='MyClass' def __init__(self, id): "init" self.id=id I can add objects of MyClass through ZMI. How can I add some object through my own interface: for example, on button click on DTML form? Regards, Serg.
