Location of ZOPE_HOME
by John Poltorak 09 Mar '04

What is the recommended location of ZOPE_HOME? I have built it under /tmp and would like it's home directory to be somewhere else. Can I safely move the directory struture to a new location after building Zope? -- John

Hello. I've published some external methods in Zope and I'm accessing them using xml-rpc. The problem is the performance. It is very slow (I use it locally) Is there something I can do to speed it up? Thanks in advance, Geir Arne Evjen

RE: [Zope] Quoting Text to valid HTML
by Samir Mishra 09 Mar '04

Thanks all for all the responses. I kind of have what I was looking for, but it's not a perfect fit. Suggestions so far: 1. StripoGram - no good, this strips HTML tags, it doesn't fix invalid characters in text to be included in HTML 2. uTidy - great product, unfortunately it doesn't expose all its internals, so it's overkill, and doesn't work for snippets of HTML code 3. html_quote from Products.PythonScripts.standard- exactly what I want, but this is taking me back full circle. What I'm looking for is html_quote without having to install Zope. I could lift the code from the source for html_quote to allow my product to be self-contained (users will not have Zope) but this doesn't sit well with me. Also, as mentioned, it doesn't "replace åäöé etc." 4. Use zope - see above. Thanks for all the help. Samir. -----Original Message----- From: Samir Mishra [mailto:SamirMishra@cbuae.gov.ae] Sent: Monday, March 08, 2004 13:33 To: 'The Count' Cc: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: RE: [Zope] Quoting Text to valid HTML Thanks, I saw this earlier, but it's not what I need. Catalog without a Z
by Andre Meyer 09 Mar '04

09 Mar '04

Dear Zopers The Zope Book explains the use of ZCatalog for indexing and searching (http://zope.org/Documentation/Books/ZopeBook/2_6Edition/SearchingZCatalog.s…) However, I want to use Catalog (and not ZCatalog) in my file-system-based product. I use a Folder object to which I add custom objects using self._setObject(id, item). Does anybody have a good example of what is needed for this purpose? What are the preconditions for indexing/searching in this context? thanks a lot for your help Andre

Memory Leaks, an Observation
by Jim Washington 09 Mar '04

09 Mar '04

Just an observation that I have not heard of yet. I have a filesystem product that until recently relied on some TTW Script(Python)s to do interfacing with some ZSQL Methods. What happened in that configuration was refcounts of those python scripts and their associated containers (in cache extreme detail) incrementing and never going away, a substantial memory leak that necessitated restarting the server regularly. They showed up on the main Debug page in the Top Refcounts listbox as lots of Acquisition.ImplicitAcquirerWrapper-s. So, just to see if it was the Script(Python)s or the code itself, I put identically the same code as methods in the filesystem product. Result: No more runaway memory usage. :) YMMV. -- Jim Washington
