Problems with buildout and zope.interface

Hi there! I am trying right now to convince people to use buildout and ZCA for the Open Grid Protocol project but it turns out that it's not working as expected. So maybe somebody on here can help me :-) The setup is Mac OSX 10.5.4 with Python 2.5.1 installed and apparently a zope.interface egg inside the standard install of Python of version 3.3.0. (you can see the contents of the lib dir her: http://pastebin.com/d3f5fb455) On some machines it now seems that this version is used instead of using a newer one the system wide installed one is used (for some reason not on my own machine), so the for instance the testrunner script looks like this: http://pastebin.com/d1a1024d2 (as you can see the standard lib is put into the path but not a separate zope.interface egg). Now my question is: How can I solve this problem. I think I tried to put zope.interface>=3.4 into all sorts of places but one outcomes only seemed to be a version conflict saying that 3.3.0 is installed already (unfortunately I also cannot test this myself as in my case it's working). I suspect though that it also fixed some other bugs as people here constantly seemed to have problems with buildout which now seems to be reason enough to move away from buildout and the Zope Component Architecture). Zope 3 Skins - Virtual/Minneapolis Design Sprint for E-Democracy.Org

Would you like to put your mark on the next Mailman/Google Groups/etc.? E-Democracy.Org is plotting a design sprint for its use of the GPL open source GroupServer - http://groupserver.org - tool that we use to host local and neighborhood issues forums - http://forums.e-democracy.org - in the U.S., England, and New Zealand. Zope-based, GroupServer uses Zope 3 style skins (about which our non-profit has limited understanding ... hence an opportunity to make a difference with your skills). Permission for archetype products

Hi, How to make a archetype products available for member so that it available to member type user like plone native content type. By its default behaviors it is only accessible to admin/ manager type of user. I am using zope 2.9.3 and plone 2.5. regards, Kedar

urllib2 timeout problem inside Zope thread

Hi, I'm currently using urllib2 to get an external URL from an internal "cron like" Zope thread. The loaded page has to manage administrative tasks before I can start other tasks into Zope internal database ; it returns partial chunks of data, but globally takes more than 20 minutes to run. Problem : when loading the page via a simple Python console, I set socket.setdefaulttimeout() and everything is OK ; but when launching the same command from inside Zope thread, I get a socket.timeout error. So my question : as I'd really prefer to keep this method call inside an internal Zope thread, how can I prevent this timeout ? Unrestricted threads

Hi, I use Zope-2.9.9. I need to create custom "cron like" threads in an application to handle administrative tasks. Global setup of these threads is already OK. So my question is : how can I setup these threads so that they can handle database objects in an unrestricted way (eventually throught an authentication mecanism) ? How to ensure modified script in external Methods come into use...

hi, I have modified the external medthod. I want to know how to test whether the modified method is being used,,,, Is it by default that the modified script is used or i have to do something to see that the changed script is being used .. I mean the external method is in the Zope/Extensions directory .. wishes, suhail

zexp import fails from linux to windows due to image file paths

Hi, I have an old zope based site that was hosted on a linux machine that was exported to a zexp. i am trying to import it onto a windows machine to fix up and upgrade the site. the windows machine is setup wth the identical products etc. The problem is the image file paths for linux within the zexp do not match the new windows setup. I dont need the images imported, i'm wanting to access the main site content and users. I dont have access to a linux machine anymore, so i'm stuck with windows for development. Is there a way of getting the import procedure to ignore the errors and continue the import (i.e. any hints on how to modify the zope code)? Or is there a way to edit the zexp to do a search & remove/replace of the file path names so the import completes with no file path details? Any ideas greatly appreciated as I have searched around with no luck on answering this myself. Thanks
