Sorting a list of nested lists
by Asad Habib 12 Feb '04

Hello. Does anyone know what happens when you apply the list sort operation to a list that contains lists? In this case, what does Python use as the sort criteria? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

Accessing Basic Zope Objects
by D. Bickle 12 Feb '04

12 Feb '04

Hi All, I am having trouble accessing Zope Objects (importing them into my Python scripts). I am setting the PYTHONPATH INSTANCE_HOME environment variables in my startup scripts. While I can load these modules into Python at the command line I can't import them through Zope. Questions: How and where do you set Zope/Python environment variables so they can be able to find the Zope APIs? If I have other versions of Python (not included with Zope) running on the system can this cause the interpreter to become confused? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I think I was using the wrong version for 2.7 also, should we be using 2.7 and moving away form 2.6.4? RE: [Zope] Persistence Module Confustion

Your problem could be related to the allow_class ... allow_module take a string parameter which is the parameter NAME. To use allow_class however you need to first import it and pass the class itself to the call. Again: NOT a string, but the class itself. For instance here's how I do it with a third-party module I have: from Projection import Projection allow_module('Projection') allow_class(Projection) Hope this helps! I didn't realize there was a MailHost option in the pull down menu ;| As far as loading modules go I have been able to solve this problem by creating my own custom Product and setting the security declarations in __init__.py. I am still having a problem importing a Python module I created containing some class objects. I placed the module in the Products directory and modified the __init__.py module accordingly. I've tried adding both allow_module(<module_name>) and allow_class(<class_name>) to the __init__ file. Both don't seem to work even after restarting zope. Any ideas? ZCatalog query example without _usage
by Kevin Carlson 12 Feb '04

12 Feb '04

Can someone point me to an example of querying a ZCatalog index without using the deprecated term "_usage" ? In a current application, I am querying a catalog based on a date range and using something like {'date_usage' : "range:max"} in the dictionary I am passing to the query. I have searched Zope.org for things and have read the README.txt file in the PluginIndexes product but have failed to find an example. Any help is greatly appreciated. Kevin

Session variables
by Dennis Allison 12 Feb '04

12 Feb '04

Zope: 2.6.2b3, Python: 2.1.3 I make extensive use of session variables in our site. As our load has increased I find occasional site errors where an active session fails to find a session variable and reports a KeyError. This, as you'd expect, causes problems (-: The behavior I'm seeing is similar to that reported in issue 848 (pending) in the collector. Is there a workaround? solution? -d

Persistence Module Confustion
by D. Bickle 12 Feb '04

12 Feb '04

I am trying to import the MailHost module that has dependencies with the Persistence module. The interpreter complains that it cannot load the Persistence modules When I examine the package there is no content or modules. How can I fix my code to resolve these dependencies? Have the Persistence modules been deprecated? Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. I'll try 2.7, as I just started and have only two sql apps written using DTML. I managed to get MySQL to work in 2.7, but had to remove a line of python code from db.py Regards, Frank Rocco farocco(a)hotmail.com >From: Casey Duncan <casey(a)zope.com> >To: "Frank Rocco" <farocco(a)hotmail.com> >CC: zope(a)zope.org >Subject: Re: [Zope] Does Zope 2.7 support MySQL? >Date: Thu, 12 Feb 2004 09:43:14 -0500 > >On Thu, 12 Feb 2004 08:49:39 -0500 >"Frank Rocco" <farocco(a)hotmail.com> wrote: > > > Thanks, I think I was using the wrong version for 2.7 > > > > also, should we be using 2.7 and moving away form 2.6.4? > >There's no right answer to this question.
