I'm running Debian sarge and I've just installed zope and plone, but I can't seam to login to the zope management area. zope is running, I can see it at http://localhost:9673/ but I can login using 'cmsuser' and 'password' I've used zope-zpasswd -u james -p password /var/lib/zope/access to set up another user and then restarted zope but I still can't login. Can any one tell me what I'm doing wrong and where I can find some debian specific instructions. Thanks James

Zsyncer
by Brian Sullivan 15 Feb '04

15 Feb '04

I am attempting to find a solution to my problem -- synchronizing a Zope production server to a Zope development server at controlled intervals. I have been doing it by hand but the process has just gotten too unwieldy. Zsyncer seems like a product that does this. I am however having a problem trying to determine if it supports this scenario: 1) Development server is web based 2) Production server is intranet based What I want to do is from the intranet trigger the synchronization. The problem I seem to be running into in playing with it is that it seems is the server that you are synching from(in the internet cloud in my case) needs to have tcp/ip access to the server that it is synching (not true in my case -- and I can't make this possible). The server in question though does have outgoing access to the internet. Is my assumption/interpretation of the Zsyncer process correct? Is there a strategy that will allow me to what I want to do? A secondary issue -- I want also to be able to synch security settings/roles -- does Zsyncer help me here? Brian Sullivan Courses by Wire (www.coursesbywire.com)

by bobby and alex 15 Feb '04

15 Feb '04

I feel like i'm hitting my head up against a wall, and need a sanity check. on an external method, def main(self): print "this is a test" return printed doesn't work. what is printed does display on my console, but my zmi comes back with Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'printed' is not defined I'm using default python 2.1 installation (jnot from zope) and zope 2.6.0... on w2k. return printed does work as expected from inside a script/python, however. Thanks alot for any response, like i said it's about time to put a helmet on.

Proxy Error
by John Poltorak 15 Feb '04

15 Feb '04

I have suddenly started getting a 'Proxy Error' msg when accessing my Zope site which uses Apache to redirect specific requests to Zope. I can access other virtual hosts running hosted by Apache, and I can get to my Zope site if I specify port 8080, but for some reason just http://www.myzopesite.org/ returns a 500 Proxy Error reason: Host not found Can anyone suggest what is wrong? It would appear to be an Apache error. Can anyone suggest where I look for the source of the problem? -- John

Can two Zope installations interact?
by Ryan T. Bard 15 Feb '04

15 Feb '04

I have two sites that really need to be on seperate servers for both load balancing and security purposes. However, it would be a great benefit to myself and my users if I can have one Zope installation interact with the other installation so that I can automate some user processes. I still want these machines to be seperate and their users to maintain server-exclusive permissions. I just want the Zope A system to have access to some resouces on the Zope B system when dynamically generating some pages so that I can automate these processes in the background. To make the question more specific--if that helps--I would like to have one server run a script that accesses ExtFile objects in one particular Folder on the other server and create copies of those objects on the calling server on a timed basis using something like the Xron product. Should/could this be done with an external method somehow? I figure this is the most likely avenue available, if at all. Or will I need to wait for ZEO before I can pursue a solution for this situation? Thanks for any help offered! -- Ryan T. I am running 2.6.2 with python 2.1.3 on this new Debian box we brought two days ago. I have another server running this setup perfectly and for some reason I cannot get passed this error. Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/Zope-2.6.2-src/lib/python/OFS/Application.py", line 522, in import_product product=__import__(pname, global_dict, global_dict, silly) File "/usr/local/zope/lib/python/Products/ZPsycopgDA/__init__.py", line 92, in ? import DA File "/usr/local/zope/lib/python/Products/ZPsycopgDA/DA.py", line 93, in ? from db import DB File "/usr/local/zope/lib/python/Products/ZPsycopgDA/db.py", line 99, in ? import psycopg AttributeError: 'DateTime' module has no attribute 'mxDateTimeAPI' I have been reading through mailing lists, the FAQ, etc. and nothing is solving this problem. I only have 1 python installed on the system and I compiled it by hand. Zope starts just fine and I can get a python shell without issue. request object not including querystring args
by Justin Robertson 15 Feb '04

15 Feb '04

Can anyone tell me why the first script is returning None for request.get('argClsRecId')? Script: request = container.REQUEST response = request.RESPONSE print request.QUERY_STRING print request.get('argClsRecId') return printed Request URL: http://localhost:8080/scripts/actAddSubjectReport?argClsRecId=159&argStuRec… Output: argClsRecId=159&argStuRecId=2288 None But if you try this script: request = container.REQUEST response = request.RESPONSE for x in request.items(): print x[0], x[1] return printed argClsRecId and argStuRecId are there (along with all the other things).
