Re: Zope on cygwin incredibly slow?

On the same hardware Zope runs atleast 10 times > faster while booted on linux and a little bit faster if I am running > Zope's windows-binaries. What's about this: http://www.mingw.org/index.shtml it is a minimal version of unix. It has also a gnu c compiler and it is easier to install than cygwin. I don't know if it has some restriction, but you could give it a try. I have already compiled a package with it (SWIG to be more specific) and it worked as expected. Perhaps you could try to compile zope on it and try to run it from its minimal shell. Ah, and short time ago, somebody on the list already mentioned psyco (http://psyco.sourceforge.net/) to speed up the excecution of python code. Perhaps you could also take a look at it. Here is how to integrate it to zope: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.web.zope.plone.user/6468/match=psyco According to that article, it seems to work; however, I will bet that it was tested on a linux system and not under cygwin. (The author neither specify the system nor the zope version). Regards, Josef

cannot change property of type lines permanently
by Marcus Bergmann 19 Jan '04

19 Jan '04

Hi, I'm trying this: <dtml-call "calendar.mailaddresses.remove(REQUEST.mailaddress)"> where 'calendar' is a folder, 'mailaddresses' is a property of it (type is lines) and 'mailaddress' is a variable the DTML method received via an HTML form. After the request, the removed line entry seems to be gone. It's not shown in the ZMI or in my HTML site which shows me the mailaddresses. But if I restart Zope the removed line is there again. Also if I copy the folder, then the copy shows me the removed entry in its properties. Any suggestions? Thank you, Marcus

Checking dynamic permissions
by Gilles Lenfant 19 Jan '04

19 Jan '04

Hi, I need a fine grained permisssion for a certain category of (authenticated) users. Defining a role/permissions mapping is not enough : Each authenticated user is granted to proceed operations up to a certain amount, depending on his/her supposed skills. When the user attempts to proceed an operation that exceeds that amount, the permission for some objects/methods must be denied. Of course, I need to make my own user folder for this (exUserFolder based ?) Many thanks for any pointer that may help me to achieve this while keeping as "standard" as possible within the Zope security standards (using the roles/permissions ... stuff) Cheers -- Gilles Lenfant Pilot Systems - 66, rue de Provence - 75009 Paris Tel : +33 1 44 53 05 55 - www.pilotsystems.net Hébergement Zope et Plone gratuit - http://www.objectis.org

DateTime and propertysheets
by David Sumner 19 Jan '04

19 Jan '04

Hello, I have created a Product with a ZClass. The ZClass has a propertysheet with a date property. When creating an instance of this product I try to call the manage_editProperties method and modify the value of another non date property and I receive an Invalid Date-Time String. Now, I am not attempting to modify a date property but am still getting this error whenever I tried to change a value on the same propertysheet as a date property. If I try to change the date value to a valid date time value, I still receive the same error. Thanks

Re: Re: [Zope] NTLM authentication

you can obtain info on the user logon id, domain and hostname from the ntlm string passed by the browser. we tried that previously using java servlets on weblogic sitting behind IIS. you can search for more info by typing "ntlm servlet authentication" in google, e.g. http://www.jguru.com/faq/view.jsp?EID=1045412 > > From: "Bobb" <rawbobb(a)hotmail.com> > Date: Mon 19/01/2004 3:8 AM GMT+08:00 > To: "Matt Hamilton" <matth(a)netsight.co.uk>, > <zope(a)zope.org> > Subject: Re: [Zope] NTLM authentication > > My 2cents... > > NTLM support is non-existant from m$ as of 12/2003. nt4 also.
