hello, I got a problem with copy container support. I'm trying to use manage_copyObjects() and manage_pasteObjects() to migrate my old Zope member folders into new folders. I copied all content of the old folder, I created a new folder and I pasted the clipboard in. but my problem is, zope duplicate the object in the new folder : for example if i got a file object with 'zz' id in the first folder , Zope give me in the new folder : 'zz' .. and 'copy_of_zz'. Here is the script: types_containers = { 'News Item':'News','File':'Documents','Link':'Bookmarks'} # because i classified objects in differents folders names_containers = types_containers.values() for n in names_containers: rep = '%s-new' % n old = getattr(homeFolder, n) new = getattr(homeFolder, rep) items = [n for n, o in old.objectItems()] cp = old.manage_copyObjects(ids=items) new.manage_pasteObjects(cp) in fact, if I use the cookie and the request, I got the right result... but, I want to understand what on earth going bad ... I would not want to apply this migrate script and later realize I get lot of problems or i have lost some objects ... ! help please

Hi Thanks for the reply but PLEASE read the entire original post :) I don't want to import the zexp files , but to upload them as files in Zope to make them available for download ... Oracle Describe SQL Statement

Dear List, Is it possible to issue a 'describe' sql statement to an Oracle database? I am getting the following error : Error, dco2.DatabaseError: (900, 'ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement') I have no problem with other SQL statements. Any help, much appreciated, Rob

External Method Help - Rendered HTML to Disk

Hello All, I'm experiencing a mental block on this, hoping someone can help with some pointers, resources to get me started on the right path. I'd like to have a generic DTML method (or preferably a python script), call it write2FS, that can be called as, e.g. http://my-zope-site//somefolder/index_html/write2FS?filename=somepath%2Fsome file and this will create a file called {ZOPEPATH}/var/somepath/somefile.html containing the rendered version of index_html. Optionally, 1. if a filename is not supplied to the method above, the script/method will render & write index_html to file {ZOPEPATH}/var/someFolder/index_html.html. 2. if the method is invoked as http://my-zope-site//someFolder/index_html/write2FS?filename=somepath%2Fsome file&link=someOtherFolder%2FZopeObj it will write a file named {ZOPEPATH}/var/somepath/somefile.html containing the rendered elements of http://my-zope-site//someOtherFolder/ZopeObj I hope the above is intelligible. My motivation for the above is that I'm dealing with a lot of dynamic financial time series data, up to a point. Once the data is published, e.g. at the end of a week/month, it is static. Therefore, instead of performing a DB query each time a report is requested, I'd like to save the canned reports as static pages once data is published and have apache handle them. Later, perhaps I'll consider saving the reports in a DB as text BLOBs. Thanks in advance. Samir.

ZMI very slow on Win 2000 server

Hi, I'm running the binary release of Zope 2.6.1 (python 2.1.3) and Plone 1.4 on a Windows 2000 sp4 server on the local network. Recently, I've noticed that the ZMI has slowed almost to a crawl while viewing the contents of most folders (empty ones open quickly). I can't think of anything that has been changed recently in our config. Things I've tried: clearing the cache, compacting the database, restarting the server. I'm just getting started with Zope, so I would appreciate some pointers on other troubleshooting things I can try. Thanks, Michael

mysql-python and zope - problem with python.exe version

I have been trying to install ZMySQLDA on Zope version 2.6.2 on Win2k. To do this you need MySQL-Python installed over the same Python interpreter that Zope uses. I have Python 2.3 installed, as well as Zope (which has its own Python 2.1 interpreter). So I had the option of installing MySQL-Python over the 2.1 Zope interpreter, or putting it in the 2.3 directory and having the 2.3 version of Python.exe run Zope. However, I can't seem to do either. The MySQL-Python installation requires at least a Python 2.3 installation, so I can't install it over the Zope version, and if I start Zope with the 2.3 interpreter I get an error saying "Module use of Python21.dll conflicts with this version of Python". Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks. how to change ftp server data connection range?

I'm running my zope behind a firewall and i want to configure the ftp server so that it opens data connections on ports 20000+ the client is connectin with PASSIVE mode so the server initiates the data connection. normally zope opens ports starting from 2000 (i guess). This doesn't work for me since the firewall is closed below 20000. Of course the easy way would be te open up the firewal but the server is at our hosting company and i can't admin the firewall :( I've tried editing ftpserver.py but i can't get it to work. any suggestions? How to implement timeouts in Zope external proceures or ???

ooops... How do I implement a timeout in an external procedure? s I just hacked out a procedure using the usual technique: I use SIGALRM, set an alarm and catch the signal. But, I forgot that signals only work in the main thread so it won't do the job.
