Q: How to check if Image exists (inside REQUEST object)?

I have another (for me) tought nut to crack and would appreciate any help: I'm handling a submit-form (now in multi-part/formdata :) with a method called postit (from KMNetNews). I'm trying to detect within postit whether an image was included in the image1 property of the submit form (i.e. did the user decide to upload an image with the <input type=file name=image1> button): I.e. my hierarchy: ../../uniqueID - folderish article object edit - the submit form postit - the method that receives submit form data Inside postit I check: <dtml-if "image1"> The above always returns true, regardless of whether I've submitted an image via the edit-form or not. Same for: <dtml-if image1> <dtml-if "REQUEST.image1"> <dtml-if "_.str(REQUEST.image1)"> <dtml-if "_.str(REQUEST['image1'])"> <dtml-if "not _.str(image1)==''"> they always return TRUE regardless of whether I submitted an image via the submit's form image1 property. Furthermore: *<dtml-var image1>* returns: ** i.e. a null/empty/none contents! I tried to get the get_size, size and getSize methods to work with the image object*, but I always got an AttributeError, so I couldn't do the checking via size either. * as a matter of fact, I'm not sure image1 is an image object, if no image was included in the submit form? I also tried forcing the image1-property to an actual data type through HTML, in case no image was specified for uploading: <input type=file name="image1:boolean" value="off"> ... and tried to check with that too, but that didn't help either. I always get TRUE, whatever I do. So, how can I check whether an image was submitted or not? I'm beginning to sucpect I've misunderstood something gravely. How to pass parameters to a DTML Method from within another DTML method?

I'm trying to pass parameters to a DTML method when calling it from another DTML method. I've tried stuff like <dtml-var "anotherMethod(foo='blah')"> but it seems to totally screw up the namespaces. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks, Hunter

Tree tag

Hi everybody! I'm having a problem with the tree tag. I have a page where I want to show all postings of 7 Confera Topics. So far I can show the different trees of the Topics but the page raises an error message when I want to expand any of the trees. Therefore I want to show the page with the trees already expanded. But whatever I tried, the trees aren't shown expanded. I've tried the following commands:   and I've tried to put expand-all or expand_all in the tree tag. But nothing worked. When I try to put expand-all in the tree tag, it says it's not a valid argument. Is there anyone who can tell me how to have the trees shown expanded? Thanks in advance Katrin

Actually I've seen the error about not having access to Z2.pid occur for reasons other than file permissions per se. It appears that the PCGI daemon still has the code in him that detects whether the zserver process is running and if not, he starts one. Nowadays zserver is started via ./start or /etc/rc.local but if it should fail for some other reason, or if the PCGI control file (Zope.cgi) is not correct, the PCGI daemon will spawn zserver, but with the -wrong- ownership/permissions. I tried to disable that part of PCGI when I built the RPMs but could not find an (easy) way. I figure it won't matter soon when FastCGI is released and we move away from PCGI. I swear though, that the Z2.pic problem is the -most- commonly reported failure w/Zope that I in my email box, and made worse that often it is a red herring. The other one I see, for the same reasons is: ImportError: (<class exceptions.IOError at 80a3008>, "[Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/zope/var/Data.fs.lock'") To demonstrate the problem, run Zope in PCGI+ZServer mode, start up Zope and show that it works fine. Now, kill -9 both the zdaemon and zserver processes, and tell your browser to display a Zope page. Wait 15-60 seconds, while PCGI starts a new zserver process, and whamo, one of the above error messages will appear in your browser window, with a traceback in the HTML source as usual. I didn't *touch* the file/dir permission settings between the successful and unsuccessful test. Hotmetal Pro 6 as Zope design tool

I've been evaluating WYSIWYG HTML editors at work and consequently downloaded an eval version of HotMetal Pro 6.0. In preliminary testing, I found it works quite compatibly with Zope. It includes bidirectional FTP, so I can navigate to a folder in Zope, edit the raw DTML documents or methods, and save it back into Zope. I haven't had the chance to do much more than a few quick edits, so can't swear that it won't mess things up, but so far looks good. Other tools seem to want to use HTML to grab content, and Zope obligingly renders the content - not what I had in mind. Anyone else taken a look at this, and any reactions? Remnants of previous version of Python-based product "stuck" in Zope?

Executive Summary: Zope and Win98 have some really, really wierd buffering problems. This one is wierd. First, I made a simple WebLog product in Python. I was pretty happy when it worked. Then I converted it to use Zope 2 style initialization. That worked too, eventually. So then I started making a Boring Product as a demonstration piece for a HowTo on Zope 2 style products. I had a few mis-starts where I left WebLog somewhere instead of Boring, but I cleaned them all out. Searching for the string "web" in my product's directory gives no results.Cool. For some reason, though, I kept getting errors like this when trying to add a Boring: Debugging Notice Zope has encountered a problem publishing your object. Cannot locate object at: http://127.0.0.1:8080/manage_addProduct/Boring/manage_addWebLog I got RID of that. There's no "web" anywhere in the bloody directory. So I tried: * delete both WebLog and Boring from Control Panel / Products. * compact the database (9.7k!) * shut down and restart Zope * go to add a Boring... Eh? The title is "Add WebLog", and indeed this manage_addProduct/Boring/boringAdd has all the content intended for weblogAdd, even after compacting the database. No wonder I got that previous error. Anyhow, next I tried: * delete both WebLog and Boring from Control Panel / Products. * compact the database (9.7k!) * remove both their directories * shut down and restart Zope * compact the database (9.7k!) * flush the cache * shut down Zope * put ONLY the Boring directory back * restart Zope * go to add a Boring... ... and I was back where we were before. Frustrating. Putting the Boring directory in another Zope instance (same version, NT instead of Win98) worked just fine. Anyhow, rebooting Win98 fixed it somehow. Updating ZClass instance properties

Hello, I'm trying to update the properties of a ZClass instance based on information entered in a form. The form calls a method where the updating is carried out. The updating code looks like this: <dtml-with "myObject"> <dtml-call "propertysheets.InstanceConstants.manage_changeProperties(REQUEST)"> <dtml-call reindex_object> </dtml-with> If I hard-code the id of the instance ("myObject" here), everything works fine. However, if I tried to access the object id stored in the REQUEST object, I get an error on "InstanceConstants". Here is the code: <dtml-with "REQUEST.id"> <dtml-call "propertysheets.InstanceConstants.manage_changeProperties(REQUEST)"> <dtml-call reindex_object> </dtml-with> I tried many solutions, including <dtml-with "_[REQUEST.id]">, <dtml-with REQUEST><dtml-with id>, etc. with the same results. I think I need to access the object whose name is stored in REQUEST.id. How can I do it? Thanks. Alexandre
