I did with Postgres (I am using Postgres on Sun and PyGres and ZPygres DA). When I compiled PyGreSQL I add -R linker switch - this is the path where to find .so library. It is not recommended by some people, but I think it is better than setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment. So you have two approaches to choose from. You may set LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment for Zope (do it in start script) and restart Zope. Or you may recompiile ZMySQL DA and use -R option. -R path must point to a directory where you have installed MySQL libraries: -R /usr/local/lib And again, restart Zope after compilation. Because at the time the ZClass is created, it doesn't have any propertysheets to populate. Having the ZClass_add automatically change when a propertysheet is added is not necessarily desirable... Once you've created a propertysheet, and possibly updated the ZClass_addForm method to include additional fields, you should go into the constructor (ZClass_add). In there, there is a commented section that you should uncomment that includes the line; <dtml-call "propertysheets.Basic.manage_changeProperties(REQUEST)"> Change this line from Basic to whatever the name of your propertysheet is. Yes, I think that was what Michel was saying could be handled a little smarter. Basically, your ZClass_add method needs to ensure that dates, floats and ints all have legal values. Thanks, Amos, just what I asked for. But not (drats!) what I was really looking for. My users, who can edit pages in a specific folder only, will typically approach �their� pages as Anonymous users. Seem to me a passive test for AUTHENTICATED_USER will fail. Should there be a separate Log-in page before they approach their folder? Or perhaps a link visible to everyone that says something like� Page owner click <a href="force_login">here</a> to edit. �and then run your code?? (Does force_login exist?) While I'll never rule out the possibility that I'm doing something wrong, every time I've tried just "manage_changeProperties" for ZClass instance, nothing happens. When I do "propertysheets.Whatever.manage_changePropertes" it works just fine... So, AFAIK, yes. That's the way to go for changing properties on a ZClass instance. Therefore, the changed to the Drafted property has not actually been committed yet. The easiest thing to do might be to do a changeProperties on the new object after cloning. Or maybe it's possible to write an external method to commit the transaction (I don't know much about the transaction machinery though). Good luck! Kevin

ZClass wierdness

I've been experimenting with Zope, for a few days now. I have been writing a fantasy basketball tracking site for a friend of mine. I am having a few problems with Zclasses. I am trying to change a property of a ZClass then clone it. Everything works, except the cloned copy does not have the latest changed value. Here is my code :  <dtml-with "_.getattr(AllPlayers,player)"> <dtml-call "setAttr('Drafted',_.getattr(AllPlayers,'draft_round'))"> </dtml-with> <dtml-with "_.getattr(Teams,AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName())"> <dtml-call "manage_clone(_.getattr(AllPlayers,player),_['player'], REQUEST)"> </dtml-with>  The setAttr method is an external method I wrote for setting attributes, since I can't seem to get the manage_changeProperties to work for a ZClass. (I've heard others are having the same problem) The Drafted property is set on the original object and unset on the cloned one. I can't figure this out. ZClass and ZCatalog

I created a ZClass which is inherited from CatalogAware & Object Manager, it's structure is like this: MyClass bodycopy_html index_html Propertysheets Basic ClassName Now, if I find this object using a ZCatalog object, bodycopy_html will become a separate object. This is not what I want, I want the content of bodycopy_html to be indexed as part of a MyClass object. What I am doing now is to hack it on the report, link the result to the MyClass object instead of the bodycopy_html whenever data_record_id_'s parent is a MyClass object. However, is there a better way of handling this? What a ZCatalog looks for when it indexes an object? Does it call a specific method on that object? Can I override it? Kam
