Objects have properties (this is where you store most of your database type of data), and can contain other objects (such as Images, etc). You'll want to figure out what kind of objects can give you a view of your data that you're comfortable with. Though you'll want to play around with the basic Zope objects and get a bit of a feel for DTML, you should check out ZClasses. They provide a relatively simple way to create and maintain objects through the web. Use ZClasses with ZCatalog and you can do all sorts of database-y things. You definitely don't *have* to use SQL and a separate database if you don't want to. The ZClasses tutorial information is now built into one of the main Zope docs. Kevin

newbie zclass-subclassing problem

I'm having problems making zclasses that are subclasses of existing classes. I want something like a folder with a few properties and some methods to display its contents in a particular format. If I make a zclass as a subclass of Object Manager, put in some properties (title, blurb, author... all short text), and an index_html method, all goes well. The problem comes when I try to add another method, for example a dtml document object. If I try to refer to the document in any way that I can think of, I get challenged for authorization for Zope (no valid user name works, not even superuser) and I get this error: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Unauthorized You are not authorized to access mydoc. Hi! Is there any way to provide individual user logins for relational databases through ZOPE. So a user can access his own database account with his rights controlled by the databaserather by a fixed database connection? Tanks for some help. Frank.

Image not loading

Hi! I am experiencing something rather strange in the 2.0.1 NT (stable?) version. I have an image 'AdmHeader' which I call on each DTML Doc see example below.   <h2></h2> This is the  Document.  When I view this side I get exactly as expected with my image at the top of the page. Does this help at all: I have an app where every page has various edit links like <dtml-if "AUTHENTICATED_USER.has_role(['Manager'])"> <a href="manage_main">edit</a> </dtml-if> and, in the page footer I have <dtml-if expr="AUTHENTICATED_USER.name == 'Anonymous User'"> <a href="login">login/edit..</a> <dtml-else> Logged in as:  </dtml-if> Ie if they are anonymous, they see a login link; once logged in they see edit links. Or, just make the edit link always visible and it will force a login if it needs to.

Zope + Web Folder

Hi, I have Zope installed on Win98 and tried to access different object from a Web Folder. I have no problem to log in. I also can see the different folders and documents. But there is no way to copy any document from/to my Zope site to/from my local machine. I have a message like "Error while trying to copy one or some of the selected files" (the actual message is in French). However, I'm able to delete the files on Zope site using the same Web Folder. I tried to do the same with another site not powered by Zope and it works perfectly fine. Any idea, pointers?
