Broken or fixed?: Zclass, manage_changeProperties or zclass tute

Summary: -------- instance.manage_changeProperties is broken (with no ERROR!) or changed to the more 'obvious': instance.propertysheets.cd_info.manage_changeProperties The tutorial on zclasses doesnt work either the class or the documentation needs a change. Longer: ------- I have been trying to get zclass instances to be changed by dtml methods as outlined in the tutorials for a couple of days now with no luck. Now I know why....... zclassinstance.manage_changeProperties({'phone':'666'}) attempts to make the change to the FOLDER containing the zclass instance, not the instance itself. zclassinstance.propertysheets.cd_info.manage_changeProperties({'phone':'1.5'}) works as you would want (it changed the instance value of phone). Is there any reason why manage_changeProperties isnt defined for the namespace of zclassinstance? (This used to work I recall from a few zope's back). (I found this out by adding a phone property to everything on the tree down to my instance and looking at what changed, so I assume the folder is the next thing 'up' that contained manage_changeProperties :). So... ----- I dont know enough Zope internals to know how to fix it. While we are at it, is there doc on the namespace that zope uses for the various dtml things such as foo, "foo" and "_.foo"? permissions weirdness with the tree tag

The short question: Shouldn't a user created in the acl_users folder at the root with Manager be able to do all the things that the user created in ZOPE_ROOT/access? If not, what is the difference? The long explanation: If I create an index_html in / that just does:  <dtml-tree> <dtml-var id> </dtml-tree>  It will pop up a login when I go to it. If I log in as the user in my access file it works, if I login as the user created in in /acl_users with Manager - it get authorization failed. However, I can go to http://localhost/manage and login with the user in /acl_users and everything seems to work fine (except viewing /index_html.) I've written a product that lets you browse LDAP servers via the tree tag but I can' seem to make it so Anonymous can view the page. Please help! ^Roman

Can't put Zope 2 to work in an AIX 4.1.4. HELP!!!

I've been developing in my personal linux machine in Zope 2, while my production site were still working with Zope 1.10.1. Today was the day to publish some new features. But I couldn't put Zope 2.0.1 to work in an AIX 4.1.4 machine!:-(( Zope spent *minutes* to present the default screen. Couldn't go further. I've already had installed python 1.5.2 (Zope1 was installed with 1.5.1). After linking some configuration files (as told in PLATAFORM/AIX.txt) everything compiled fine, except for some warnings in zlib module. I've deleted the zlib since I already have it with my python. The problem? I run the start script and everything looks fine. When I try to connect server:8080/ the browser contacts the server but no answer. After more than 5 *minutes* zopes default home page appears. If I try to go to the manage page just after a lot of time I get the login dialog. Even after waiting a lot the management screen doesn't appear. When I go to lib/python/ and try to "import Zope" I get : >>> import Zope Traceback (innermost last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in ? Mime tag not flexible enough

I needed the ability to be able to conditionally include attachments to a mail message. Unfortunately the mime tag syntax made this impossible. I've updated it by splitting the tag into two tags. I've submitted it to the bug collector. Anyone have any constructive criticism? Is there a way of protecting your zope source

Hello all, I have an oppurtunity to create a web site for a customer. As far as I know the zope folder I export can be imported into the zope environment at the customer site. But the source will also be accessible. Is there any way of protecting my source code such that the customer will not be able to work on the source. Thanks sathya

Zcatalog confusion

I have a Zcatalog called newscatalog in my news-folder to index my news (Zclass). The newsdocs are catalog-aware, and i use reindex-object in the function that makes and modifies them. Still, they do not get cataloged.. Not even when i use the 'update catalog'-button in the catalog management.. - i have to go through the whole 'add items to zcatalog' routine to make my new instances show up in the catalog... Does this have anything to do with my catlog not being in the root folder ??

ZClass autofilling parent ZClass properties?

I'm trying to create a ZClass that inherits from another ZClass and automatically generates some of the creation properties for the parent, including 'id'.
