UserDB or Generic User Folder HOW-TO??

I am having horrible problems trying to use either of these packages and can't seem to find any documentation on them good enough to fix my problem. Are there some how-to's I am missing? -- Never trust anyone who says money is no object.

It's rpm -e apache(version) (no .rpm) However, you don't need to uninstall apache unless you're short on disk space. You might decide later you need it. Instead, you can turn off the firing up of the httpd daemon. Read /etc/inittab to confirm your default runlevel (3 or 5). >From the shell: % /bin/su - % cd /etc/rc.d/rc3.d % ls % mv S85httpd K85httpd (or whatever number httpd has) and/or: % cd ../rc5.d and do the same thing When you reboot, Apache will be dormant. Or else, you can: % /sbin/init 1 % /sbin/init 3 (or 5)

Authentication with IIS --> Zope through REMOTE_USER: at last!

[my english is broken, but you may read the entire message anyway. it is very interesting] Hello, I asked some days ago how to make IIS handle authentication and pass the information back to Zope through REMOTE_USER. Rob Page said that if IIS doesn't pass REMOTE_USER, I could write an ISAPI filter to stuff the value in the request. He's right: it is easy to do (I wrote the filter in 10mn !) *but* I then realized that IIS in fact passes REMOTE_USER.... *after* the authentication process. here is how it works in challenge/response authentication mode: - if the cgi program (for instance, Zope through pcgi-wrapper) says 401 Unauthorized *OR* the NT user (including the anonymous user set in IIS) has not the read/execute permission on the ressource, neither the current user (identified with the challenge/response protocol) has the proper rights, the browser triggers the 'identify yourself sucker' dialog box. - the chat is beetween the browser and IIS for the moment, and the browser keep asking for a username and a password until IIS realize that the user identified by the browser has the read/execute permission on the ressource. - *then* it calls the cgi program with either AUTH_USER or LOGON_USER environment variable set (it is still unclear what variable is set and when. And voila! IIS handles authentication and passes it back to Zope. You favorite user folder must support remote user mode though. I plan to review NTUserFolder and if it doesn't support remote user mode, I want to integrate the feature in it. That way, I don't even need to manually add user to any user folder! more Zope image overwriting weirdness

I am still struggling along with trying to get Zope (2.01 on Linux) to properly manage image *overwriting* for a web application that I am developing. I previously posted about this (http://www.egroups.com/list/zope/md534753122.html) here is some simple code to illustrate my problem : I have a form that prompts users for <input type="text" name="id" size="20"> <input type="file" name="image"> i.e. id is the name of image, and file is the file to be uploaded from the local file system to Zope. the action of this form is the added_new_staff method below : <dtml-with REQUEST> <dtml-with "_[id]"> <dtml-call "manage_upload(REQUEST['image'])"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> Zope executes the above without complaint, but when I try to use the image in other methods, I get the *old* image. *BUT* when I try to view /image/image I see the new uploaded image......what is going on here ? It seems that I am running into a side effect of acquisition here, but I also notice that when you use Zope's builtin image uploading and updating through the management interface, I get the same behavior. Is this a bug or a feature ? hi all, we got a news based site, and would like to offer customization of news. the way we figured it is to let users become members, and give them their index_html page when they login. however, if we do that, how can we get the news which resides on another dir? /member /news |-Pub1 |-Sec1 |-Article(s) |-Sec(n) |-Pub2 |Sec1 i know this is where inheritence comes in, but it still eludes this brain of mine. anybody has any suggestion on how we can go about this? tia -- ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.kedai.com.my/kk Am I Evil?

calling methods in differing folders

Hi, Here's another one of those questions that has probably been asked a thousand times: I have a structure that looks like this ROOT /FWF_Scale /Categories CategorySelectQuery(SQL Method) /Grades GradeForm(DTML Method) I would like to write some DTML that will call CategorySelectQuery() from withing GradeForm. I have tried: <dtml-call FWF_Scale.Categories.CategorySelectQuery()> <dtml-call FWF_Scale/Categories/CategorySelectQuery()> <dtml-call /FWF_Scale/Categories/CategorySelectQuery()> all to no avail, what am I missing here? Newbie question

You do not need to remove apache to use ZServer. ZServer runs on another port than the webserver. Look into z2.py for the address. You can get to the server with: http://localhost:8080 which is a different server than http://localhost HTH __Janko

ZDiscussions

so has anyone had a problem with the default properites available in zdiscusions? more specifically, the names of the default properties? my problems is this: in zdiscussions you have a property "author." but title does not have the some meaning as it does for me throughout the rest of our site. in the case of zdiscussions it really is the author for the thread. but throughout rest of the site it is the author of the story - and in this case, the story that is cause for the thread. so now i have two "author"s on the same page. one for the story and one for the thread. so it would make more sense for it, and the other properties, to be called something more inline with how i will use them. is this something i can change without cause a whole lot of grief come upgrade time? thanks for any help (or links to docs that would help me out), kyle http://www.newtimes.com?zope

about the new site design

Hello, You asked for comments on the new layout: you got it! I admit it is useful for the new folks to have the new layout. But for the zealots, it is useful to have the old layout, with all the news *and* the summary for each news.
