Using Stylesheets

I'm trying to use a stylesheet in a Zope html header. It keeps choking on it. If I transfer the html as it works in my current system, it doesn't work. It also doesn't work if I import the file and use dtml-var base.css in the appropriate place. Is there something obvious I'm missing? I was checking out Confera, I just did some very lite mods to the DTML's and when I was testing it out and when replying to a message I get this. I know it has something to do with splitting the index_html to see the thead. Any help would be great, I am just learnig Python and don't know what is error is all about. btw I have Python 1.5.2 and Zope 2.1.1 . Amos, Good show so far. I agree with other respondents that a bit of 'flash' might promote a more professional image. I think in addition that some way of seeing more of what people are doing with Zope would be helpful. Make it more personal and less 'faceless.' One way to do this would be to put additional optional hooks into member information: * photo * occupation * links to, or screenshots of, zope-based websites the member has put up, with type of site (commercial, corporate, educational, personal, porn??? etc...) Perhaps, if enough members have this information available, the front page could feature a "Zopista profile" (in the manner of "Dewars profile") of a random or periodically selected member? Just brainstorming... But I usually wonder, when I see a site promoting a product, "What kind of weirdoes use the product, and for what?" "Am I that kind of weirdo?" Beginner's permissions problem

I am mystified by my inability to open permissions to anonymous and to enable login for my testuser, so I suppose I have a fundamental blindspot somewhere about setting up Zope (2.1.1 on NT, completely new default setup). My problem is that my test pages are correctly visible when I login as superuser and only partially visible as anonymous (for example I don't get my style sheet, and I can't post a form at all). I can't login as another user at all either. I have set all permissions at the top level to be open to anonymous. I have my testuser setup at the top level as a manager. What should I be looking at to get past this currently-insurmountable hurdle? Documentation seems to assume that permissions just work and give no hint that problems could be encountered. Thank you in advance, even though I expect I shall be embarassed when I discover the answer. Geoff

time formats

don't i feel like an idiot. i have read over the docs for date formats but can't find a way to return a single number day. so i have: <dtml-var "_.DateTime(issuedate)" fmt="%B %d, %Y"> issuedate, in this case, equals 1999-12-09 and it returns: December 09, 1999 but i want: December 9, 1999 i know this has to be so simpe. what am i missing? thanks, kyle

Scheduled tasks in Zope?

Hi, How does one set up scheduled tasks in Zope (like automatically backing up files, automatically uploading newer versions of HTML files onto ZODB once a day, etc.)? I searched a little bit and found someone (Martijn Pieters) mentioning about ZScheduler... How is that coming along? Is it OK just to launch another Python thread from an external method to take care of scheduled tasks? Or is a performance hit? RDF Use cases

Hello Zopatistas, Digital Creations is in the process of extending the Zope architecture towards new emerging standards, and a new interface based on Mozilla. See: http://www.digicool.com/News/mozilla http://www.zope.org/Resources/Mozilla One of these standards is RDF, the Resource Description Format. This is a foundation for processing metadata and for interoperability. With it, you can describe content and content relationships, rate content, define the structure of a website, and much, much more. All this in a machine readable format. More information about RDF can be found at the W3 Consortium website: http://www.w3c.com/Metadata/RDF Before we dive in and start writing code, however, DC will first try and define what we are up against. One thing we do, is define Use Cases. Use Cases describe ways in which people would use RDF. A few examples: - RDF Sitemaps. The browser of visitor of a Zope generated website can retrieve a RDF Sitemap of the website, for presentation to the visitor. For a preliminary specification of RDF Sitemaps, see: http://rudolf.opensource.ac.uk/about/specs/sitemap.html - Content syndication. A website administrator makes some of its content available via a RDF datasource. - Metadata embedded in HTML. HTML pages returned from Zope have embedded in their header an RDF description of the document, including information on author, language, publisher, etc. This could be based on the Dublin Core metadata proposal. - Advanced management of Zope objects. When describing the contents of a ZODB database in RDF, RDF clients like Mozilla can query and manipulate these contents with alternate interfaces. This is your opportunity to help in this process. We want to know from you all what your ideas are for using RDF in Zope. Nothing is too crazy or inventive! For general DTML methods, you may want to pass the "this()" object, or the "_['id']" string when calling a method that needs to know its caller. Coming back to the basics, if you need a different header functionality for index_html, I guess it's better just to create a dedicated header, something like an index_html_header, somewhere in the root folder of your interest.
