Hello, i'm somewhat new to ZOPE, so forgive me if these are trival questions. 1) Suppose ZOPE is configured as an intranet web server. If client request's an external URL (say www.zope.org) I wan't to redirect the response to specific frame in the clients browser. In this scheme zope work's as webserver but also as an intellegent proxy. How can this be accomplished? 2) Simple question ! I wan't to list the content of a directory ( say /temp) and provide a formatted view. The dtml skeleton would like the following: <dtml ... list directory> <dtml for each item > do some formatting ..... How can I list the content of a directory using DTML. How can I read the content of a file using DTML? Thanks Alfons

Adding properties to a ZClass with existing instances

This has got to be an obvious question with an obvious answer, or I'm doing something obvious wrong, but I couldn't find anything searching the Zope site. The question is too generic to get a good hit searching the mailing list archives... I've created a ZClass. I created a couple of instances. Now I've added some new properties to the ZClass, but when I try to get to the manage screen for the existing instances I get an error that one of the new properties is not defined. How do I get the new properties to be propagated to the old instances? I would have thought that that would be automatic, so I'm figuring I did something wrong. I'm running 2.0.1 (about to upgrade). --RDM

Can Zope create simple HTML-Code?

We want to use ZOPE as an internal Tool for WebDevelopment, but we have to publish our work on a simple Apache-Web-Server. Is it possible to use ZOPE in that way ? That means: Is it possible to create pure HTML-Code from within ZOPE, that can be published to any WebServer you choose? How can we do that? Bye, Anatol

ZMySQLda make failure

I can query mysql and get results from within the python command line. So that works ok. When I perfomr the make -f Makefile.pre.in boot there is no error. Evaluating dtml from python

I have a string that I want to evaluate as dtml from within a python method. How do I send the namespace to the HTML object so that it understands the <dtml-var> tags? <<<Example>>> from Globals import HTML def myproc mystring = "<dtml-in mysqlselect><dtml-var id>, <dtml-var value></dtml-in>" mydtml = HTML(mystring, globals()) return HTML.__call__() <<<End of Example>>> Right now when I call this from Zope, it will interpret standard HTML tags just fine. Zope appears to parse the dtml tags, but I'm getting a KeyError on 'mysqlselect' which leads me to think that the HTML object does is not inheriting (or otherwise receiving) the current namespace. How do I pass the namespace? Is there a better way to do what I want? SiteAccess and virtualizing FTP access to a virtual hosted site

SiteAccess works wonderfully for virtual web hosting with ZServer. (Kudos Evan!) As FTP doesn't have the necessary headers/handshake to distinguish "virtual named sites" as HTTP/1.1 does, there are only two other methods to accomplish this: IP bound virtual hosting and user-bound "default folders" with appropriate security to lock them into that 'jail'. The goal here is to allow users to FTP *only* into their virtually hosted websites. Ideally, I don't want them to see the rest of the ZODB heirarchy. The more transparent this is to the user, the better. Is there any hope of virtualizing FTP access to these same virtual web sites? Tagging Zope users with a "starting folder" for FTP is what I'm looking for barring the ability to do IP bound virtual hosting with ZServer. Thanks! - Ian C. Blenke <icblenke(a)2c2.com>

Swedish characters and XMLDocument-1.0a4

Hi. I just read Amos great article at http://www.xml.com/pub/1999/12/zope/index.html I downloaded Sample.zexp and XMLDocument-1.0a4.tgz, and started to create some sample pages of my own. Maybe I'm wrong, because I don't know much xml, but XMLDocument-1.0a4.tgz seems to have problems handling the swedish characters åäö. This document: <?xml version="1.0"?> <faq> <entry> <test>Långt svårt öppningshål</test> </entry> </faq> displays this error : XML Parsing Error: not well-formed at line 4 when I try to save it in Zope. Change the text to "Långt svårt oppningshål" and it says: XML Parsing Error: mismatched tag at line 5 "Långt svårt oppningshal" saves just ok... /Magnus Heino

A while back I sent the following information to Scott Robertson but haven't heard anything either way. It looks like a problem with Zope/FCGI as opposed to mod_fcgi or Apache. #2 looks like some important information, but I'm new to Zope and Python, so what do I know. :-) ================================== After further research, I have the following info from the FastCGI mailing list and from a debug output from Zope. 1) The FastCGI mailing list has this to offer: "Errors about an invalid version usually means the app printed something to stdout (or maybe even stderr) when it shouldn't, and/or without the FCGI wrapper functions in place.
