Last I looked, there was no way to circumvent NSE's internal handling of HTTP methods using the nsapi, which means _no_one_ will be able to implement a WebDAV-enabled _anything_ under that server until Netscape makes it possible... :( FWIW, NSE understands its own set of "extended" HTTP methods which are similar to (but not compatible with) the new HTTP methods defined in DAV. These extensions and their semantics were created by NS to add value to their servers and make them work with their proprietary authoring tools, so I don't know how motivated NS would be to change the current situation. If WebDAV takes off, they may be motivated to support it, but it's quite possible that they would just map DAV methods to their own internal code (just as they do now) and still prevent back-end app servers from handling these methods directly. Zope on BSDI

I've just gotten Zope running on a BSDI system. The installation's a pain, but it seems to run well enough once installed. The trick, as usual, is to link all the necessary Python modules into a custom interpreter. This involves some hand-hacking of the Zope and Python builds. I'll write up more detailed documentation as soon as my current project is done. My client will need to run Zope with a statically-linked Python for some time to come. Would anybody at DC be interested in supporting this configuration better? If so, I can budget a day to work on this aspect of Zope. Cheers, Eric

referencing individual variables

The resulting output comes out thus: ['var1','var2','var3'] how do i go about referencing these 3 different variables individually??? Please help me.... While I can't talk about how to do it *now*, I can talk about what's coming for Zope 1.11/2.0 and beyond. First, with the idea of "owner" introduced, you can turn over finer grained parts of an object system. Also, I believe we'll change the User objects to be Z Classes, meaning you can easily extend them via the Control Panel. For instance, you could theoretically move the password to a separate Property Sheet where the Owner has the permission to edit stuff on the Property Sheet, leaving Roles on a Property Sheet where they don't have permission.
