Handling results from <select> tag

Consider a form: <form action="Post"> <select name="Values" multiple> <option value="A">A</option> <option value="B">B</option> <option value="C">C</option> </select> ... I have the request handling stuff working 100%, except for the case when the user selects only a single value. This seems to be because Zope converts result values to a list. So, if the user selects multiple values, form.Values becomes a list, like: ['A', 'B', 'C'] But if the user selects a single value, form.Values becomes a single value, like 'A' How do I effectively and foolproofly handle this sort of case? Although the solution ought to be indepedent of my specific code, I ought to explain a bit. Basically, my code aims to join two lists: one gotten from a <select>, the other from a simple <input>. It looks like this:     Yeah, not very pretty. Anyway, if select is ['A', 'B'] and input is 'C, D', the resulting string should because 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D'. Easy as pie, and it works fine, except if select isn't a list. In Python, you can simply check the type of variable: if type(select) == type([]): ... But this won't work in Zope. Any suggestions? Hi, very small note, just to let you know : In install docs of ZServer is written that FTP server is default on port 8021. Although that port 9221 is assigned for this task (see start.py) Thus, I think docs mean port 9221 instead of 8021. Regards, Tom.

I often go to Experts-Exchange : www.experts-exchange.com I find it a great place. This is how it works : People can log in (everything is free :-)) They can ask a question. On a question a comments can be given Or the question can be answered (and comments can still be given) The person evaluates the q'n and then can reject the answer (so somebody else can answer it) or he can grade the answer. ... E-E works with giving points per grading etc (to make it a sort of compitition). But that isn't really needed. When you enter the site (and choosen a topic) you see the following rows : Your ask questions Questions awaiting answer Questions answered, waiting for grading And answered questions. The beauty of this method is : 1. All questions are solved in seperate threads. If you haven't said, 'I want to follow the thread', you don't get a mail saying, new comment in thread Y. However, if you want to follow a thread, you add a comment (or an empty comment) to the thread and then you can follow the q'n. 2. If a question is solved, you can search it through the solved q'ns 3. If a q'n is answered, you know that somebody is already helping this person. So you can decide to help somebody else, or you can follow the thread. 4 gives also a good overview... Regards, Tom.

integer to string?

I have two questions about strings. How do I convert an integer to a string? I want to concatinate it with a string as such:  where sequence-item is an integer. This got me looking at the "Alternate Python String Format Syntax" (page 4, DTML user guide). It seems like it should do what I want but I can't make it work. Where do these get put? Can they be in expr=""? or are they loose in the HTML? Thanks, Phil A

Installation ZServer on Win95 SOLVED!!!!!

Hi, Ok, to get ZServer working on Win95 : Thanks to the guys who've helped me out! In ZServer\medusa\FTP-Server.py : comment out IP-ADDRESS and set HOSTNAME to the name of your host so line 57 and 58 look like : #IP-ADRESS=...... HOSTNAME='localhost' or HOSTNAME='' In ZServer\start.py Change SOFTWARE_HOME to the directory in which Zope is installed, e.g. : SOFTWARE_HOME = 'D:\WebSite' Regards, Tom. You get following warnings on screen : Warning: computing default hostname Warning: cannot do revers lookup 1. With ZServer my Zope is much faster than with ZopeHTTPServer 2. I had no Time outs like I had with ZopeHTTPServer.

Q : Is ftp_server.py the ftp module? commenting out 57,58 gives a NameError: HOSTNAME and IP_ADRESS setting IP-ADDRESS='192.168.1.2' HOSTNAME='solamnic' gives : can't assign to operator in line 60. So I'm probable doing something wrong with the IP-ADDRESS and HOSTNAME setting Ugh, I feel myself very dumb. I neglected to pay enough attention to one issue about gateing the zope mailing list with a zope newsgroup - instigating the newsgroup. In the good old days, when i was familiar with such things, you needed a proposal, a gestation time, and then a vote, where the number of yea votes had to exceed the nays by a certain number (or was it percent, and there had to be at least so many yeas?) Anyway, i have heard rumors that the procedure has changed - could someone who has the scoop lay it out for us?
