If you don't run ZServer, there is no process to listen on port 9221. Zope does not listen on ports, the servers that use Zope do. FTP and apache?

I'm using Zope 2 (a2) + apache, on port 9673. FTP starts up fine on port 9221 if I use ZServer, but if I use apache (I'm using the prebuilt Zap, copied from my Zope1 installation) FTP doesn't start up. What might I be doing wrong? dmd

I didn't say I didn't _understand_, I just uttered my disputably subjective opinion that the rationale is utter bollocks. I accept that the statistical minority and the apparently devaluated authority of my opinion makes the difference of a pebble on a beach in this forum, and will forthwith resign to the fact that I'm obviously the newbie that you imply, and that I, as a sometime user, have no business talking about user-friendliness. Saying I've dismissed the article and the opinions of many savvy email folk (and I suppose you're assuming I'm not one of them?) is presumptuous. If the expressing of opinions on the subject is taboo, this list has bigger trouble than any technical misunderstandings.
