Q: huge amounts of data in zope?

hello, has anyone done archiving of +500.000 documents (resulting in about 2gbyte of data) on a zope server? is it stable? how fast is it? what kind of setup / hardware would you recommend? the system would be under moderate load (~400k hits / day) thank you for your time, peter sabaini.

ZopeHTTPServer was allways just a quick hack, an experiment, a small tidbit with no real validity checking, and and oft-crashing littler tester type guy. It came in handy in a lot of situations, but it was never suggested to be used in any type of production environment. zope on virtual www servers

problems uploading files with internet explorer

hello, i have problems uploading files with internet explorer, although it works perfectly fine with netscape. here is the code: def update(self, image=None, REQUEST=None): if image1 == None: items['image'] = '' else: headers = hasattr(image, "headers") and image1.headers or None items['image'] = (headers is None) and image or image.read() when a file is uploaded items['image'] contains it's name, instead of it's contents. i hope someone can help me solve this problem. regards, pawel PS: the whole thing does not work when stripping of the part with "headers"

Augmenting aquired DTML-Method's in subfolders

Hi all. I've found a question like this in the Archives but no answer :-( The Problem: At the root-level I definde standard_html_header (and some other's). In a subfolder I now would like to extend the definition of standard_html_header, that is, I would like to write something like  (some DTML-Code) Now, how do I write ''? At the moment I use  But I don't like this construct. It work's as long as the acquired Version is the one in the root document, but what, if I have already augmented standard_html_header in some other PARENT? Hmm... I would like some construct opposite to 'with', like 'temporarily pop the topmost n Namespaces' or something like this. This would be handy in other situations to. Any possibility? Other construct's I'd like are things like 'Pop me to the place, where <foo> was acquired from', or 'give me the PARENT, where <foo> was acquired from'. How do I answer questions like this effectively. I'm pretty new to Zope, so maybe there's a better Zope-isch solution to my problem, but ... Stefan.

'Cannot Locate' errors from Bobo using pcgi...

Hi, I've recently shifted to the pcgi variant of Zope and it's working fine...usually. However, if I mis-type a URL or the system can't find a resource, I get this message (in the example I looked for http://server.net/wip/squishdo ) Bobo has encountered a problem publishing your object. Cannot locate object at: http://server.net/wip/squishdo Traceback (innermost last): File lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 877, in publish_module File lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 420, in publish (Info: /wip/squishdo) File lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 270, in debugError NotFound: (see above) There's nothing at http://www.zope.org/Collector about this. Am I doing something daft? It's not quite as friendly as the 9673 'cannot locate' message :) Details: You are running Zope version: Zope 1.10.2 (binary release, python 1.5.1, solaris-2.5.1-sparc), on Python 1.5.1 (#1, Feb 16 1999, 18:37:21) [GCC 2.7.2] on sunos5.6 I'm using the standard Rewrite rules as well. cheers tone.
