Just an FYI...yesterday (obviously due to Bruce taunting the Slashdot crowd :^) was our biggest day yet for website activity. I'm currently only counting non-image requests, even though images are served up by Zope. Yesterday we got: 62,415 non-image hits, 13,549 pageviews, 2,290 sessions, 1.425 Gb sent. For the month: 649,373 non-image hits, 289,028 pageviews, 30,780 sessions, 19.80 Gb sent. The max yesterday was 62,415 non-image hits in one hour, which works out to around 2.5 non-image hits/sec. I don't provide these stats with any interpretation, as I know that logfile stats are unreliable and controversial. Also, I realize that this indicates that the zope.org site is pretty small compared to even Moderately Big Sites, which easily do our entire month in one day. It's possible that our month is a slow day for, say, php.net. But it's nice to see the rate of change. June was the previous high-water mark at 552k hits, with May at 451k and April at just 275k. Hi there, See the recent discussions on this - eg, Chris Petrilli's post yesterday pointing at http://www.zope.org/Download/DAStatus I've played with ZOracleDA a small amount with my Zope2 test installation, and rapidly decided it just wasn't worth the pain. For now my Zope2 test installation is DA-less, and all DB work is on my good ol' hacked-to-within- an-inch-of-it's-life 1.10.3ish installation. (It's 1.10.3, with various patches from CVS back-ported when I needed the fix/feature). Is anyone planning to do the magic for ZSybaseDA? I know DC have a Sybase DA that they're not releasing, but what about the free one? Anthony

Two things to note here: first, if you have defined 'MatchPattern' in the 'arguments' list of the SQLMethod, you can pass it directly as a keyword argument:  The reason that SQLMethods don't respect the entire namespace is mostly to prevent unintended things from happenning (by the SQL Method picking up and using a name from the namespace that you really didn't intend for it to use). SQLMethods _intentionally_ force you to be a little more explicit about what variables can be used in them - more so than DTML Methods/Documents, because if you have a variable collision in DTML, no real harm is done. At worst, the client sees a rendered document that doesn't make much sense. For SQLMethods the consequences of such a thing are are a bit worse, since you could end up inserting bad data into your database... Hope this helps! ZOracleDA Null Columns and Authorisation

I've done some more investigation of my original problem and my troubles are definitely related to null values. It seems that Zope is insisting on authentication if any of the values returned from a query are null. If I wrap the possibly null columns in an nvl function they work fine. I notice that there have been several other threads relating to Zope b1 and null objects and anuthentication problems. Perhaps this is another example. Also I get occasional errors from Zope when executing my Oracle queries. Could this be a problem of the ZOracleDA not being compatible with Zope b1? Is anybody else using Oracle with b1? What are your experiences? Any light that you Zope experts could shed on this would be very welcome. I have several projects that I would like to use Zope for, but its hard to push them forward with these kind of unsolved problems hanging over them. I know it's only _beta_ software, but its such _wonderful_ beta software. importing data to mysql from zope

Well, it's easy to pass variables to ZSQL Methods and create new records in this way in database. The question is: Is there any way to pass whole data files to be imported to the database? I know "LOAD DATA bla bla bla" stuff but this is done from the mysql client. The whole point would be doing this from browser. Any ideas?

'creating' a variable from sequence-item

Hi, I've got a page where 'n' radio button sets are displayed and the use has to select a correct answer from each of the groups. Dumping the data out is easy: (questions is a lines property with a single entry 'Is the sky blue?' type question. Note the last piece to tell the form how many questions where on the screen. Answers please::<br> <dtml-in questions> <dtml-var sequence-item>:: <input type=radio name=answer<dtml-var sequence-index> value="1"> (true) <input type=radio name=answer<dtml-var sequence-index> value="-1"> (false) <input type=radio name=answer<dtml-var sequence-index> value="0" checked> (dunno) <br> <dtml-if sequence-end> <input type=hidden name=numquestions:int value=<dtml-var sequence-index>> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> Notes: 1) checked means the radio button is set, that stops problems with variables such as 'answern' not being defined. Pedagogically, it's an open call whether you should assume the student doesn't know to begin with :) 2) numquestions:int stops problems with the numquestions+1 code a bit later on. I've got a db table that's essentially storing a tree of objects - ( obj_id int, parent_id int, name varchar ) I've got this working with the #tree display fine, with the help of the previous discussions on zope-list (thank god I index my mail spool) The next question is a bit trickier - Given an obj_id, I want to display (in zope) the list of parent_ids of it back to the root object - any ideas on the best way to do this loop? I can always just do it in an external method, but this seems like cheating to me. Anthony
